So your mom went into St. Peter’s Basilica to get to the Sistine Chapel but won’t be able to go around to see the Vatican Musuems? What an amazing experience for you and your family! Thank you for sharing your experience with navigating the wheelchair.
Thanks for watching! Us tourists can't get to the Vatican from the Basilica (from what I know), especially because the church is free, and the museums/Sistine Chapel requires tickets. I did find that the Basilica was great for her wheelchair, and the staff were amazingly helpful. We did take a tour of the Vatican on another day - th-cam.com/video/xitAjSx140E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Rjgop80UXiLjTay6 - It was off hours and we found out it wasn't wheelchair friendly (when we got there) but they accommodated us anyway.
The Vatican museum is a separate entity than the Basilica. It's the museum that will get you to the Sistine Chapel. In fact, the entrance is to the north of the Vatican city. You can get info and tickets here: www.museivaticani.va/content/museivaticani/en.html
No, not at all. They saw the wheelchair and let them pass. They were also letting in people with strollers. The security person did say he would limit how many people went in with my mom.

@@PortageurCa can you clarify what the cathedral is that you went through to get to the Sistine Chapel? Thank you!

You went inside the Cathedral; which is NOT the same as the vatican museum right?
Yes (two different places). But we did also go to the museum, and she could also go most places, but there were a few spots she had to skip.
