That was the most interesting build I have seen in a while. I have a brush hog type mower with two heavy flail blades that mount to a very heavy arm that do the cutting. I would love to be able to mount it to my front end loader and run it that way instead of looking back all the time. The loader has been converted to a Skid Steer Quick Attach system already. Thank you for sharing.

If you ask people and they say you can't do this or you can't do that, well I don't ask that way i don't get told you can't do it. Just do it and if it don't work just do something else. Thumbs up from me on that one! Some folks know what they can't do, and some just get it done.

It did not have a bypass, when you shut it down in the skid steer the blades came to a sudden stop (first time I used it I liked to have jumped out of the skid steer, LOL) hasn't hurt a thing You idle the engine down before shutting down the hydraulics
Thanks for looking. That's wierd, the factory one we used had a bypass built in. The blades slowed naturally. In addition, the Surplus Center guy definitely recommend one to avoid trouble down the road. They even provide a diagram online. Finally others I have seen on TH-cam put one in too. So better to be safe than sorry I guess. I'm no expert but I like the slow down over the stop.

Only thing I want to do differently is make a floating mount and have casters for mowing. If I had a rigid mount I would put rubber tired casters on the front so I could make turns without digging in. Then again with steel tracks on you don't have to worry as much about getting stuck or digging holes when you make turns.
cleatrampler Thanks for watching. We don't really have any problem with it digging in. I suppose if you're on really smooth ground cutting only grass, the casters would work out okay . But out here that wouldn't work at all, too many rocks, brush, and ditches. I will say the thing works even better than I expected. It is awesome my wife just loves it! Thanks again.
the pressure relief valve bypassing the overpressurized oil might cause the hydraulic oil to get hotter than usual , might want to keep an eye on that that contraption might actually work on small trees and stumps too as you can lift it up high enough with the bobcat (prolly duck out of the way of the chips that be flying though) another nice thing is that you can see wat youre doing without turning around in youre seat like you would need to do when driving a tractor with the bush hog atached

I am surprised people dont just use a prince pto pump slid onto where the shaft normally goes. Instant mounting. I plan to build one of these for my tractor. I have a pto hydro unit now that runs a front mount blower. Too easy to convert a hog to hydro. From my research, you can gain some use by cutting the front back a little to expose a few inches of the blades for larger brush

Thank you. We have a windshield for the Bobcat. So far, its not been a problem at all because the mower is well below the driver. In fact, it is MUCH better than when using the same mower on our tractors. Used to get debris hitting me all the time. So far none of that. Now that I've used it a while, I am in love with it. lol. Thats awesome. Have you ever tried it on blackberries? I know the stocks are a bit tougher than most brush and I have a ton of blackberries on my property I would look at building something like this to remove them if possible.

Ronnie Elliott thank you very much. It is an awesome machine. We use it a lot here on the farm. Unfortunately they are already on the market. The reason I built one, rather than by one, is just because they cost about 4,000 bucks or more.
@@RosaStringWorks my point is it could just float and follow whatever terrain and not gouge into the ground without adjusting it all the time as skidsteers bounce because of short wheelbase , you could still use it as you have been, just a friendly suggestion. :-)

What thickness attach plate did you use, you know they come in 1/4 5/16 3/8 and 1/2"
It was quite a while back. I haven't used it in a while, but I believe it's 1/2 inch. It does work really well.
Put wheels on it and place the arms in float
We don't use it as a regular brush hog will use it to cut down in ditches and small trees Etc so there's no need to put wheels on it
