FDG’s accuracy is actually quite reasonable. I have little difficulty scoring good long range hits. I have not done the in-game testing for tier 9 bbs yet, but Death From Above’s research puts FDG’s dispersion at 68.8%. Not bad at all when one considers dispersion of other tier 9 bbs: Minnesota 68.0%, Musashi 64.4%, Iowa 65.4%, Izumo 69.3%, Alsace 46.5%, Georgia 74.3%.
It’s good to have a review since they will drop a black ship in the shipyard every now and then. One take that I have on the paper ships. While I do agree that there lots of historical ships that WG could use for this game, I do enjoy seeing the “What if” aspect of these ships.

I have the regular Freddie and I like it, it's a good ship, idk why people say it isn't
She dominates T9 battles. T10, it very much depends on which server you're playing. On NA, for example, it's quite doable. On Asia, 8 out of 10 games in T10 consists of Yamas, Vermonts and Shikis camping base, while Shimas run unchallenged, with the occasional Haku and Smolensk thrown in for good measure. A GK can preserve her HP for the later half of the battle, and get a breakthrough opportunity, with a Freddie, I generally expect to do maybe 30k damage and be either focused down or burned down halfway through. But the T9 games are usually worth it.

@@FunandGameswithTerry I recently started playing the PC version and the GK is my first tier 10 ship and the secondaries are nasty, they got nerfed and buffed again a few weeks ago but yeah, I'll be playing and my secondaries blasting and I won't be paying attention and look and see I've racked up 25 or 30k just in secondary hits, and the accuracy,or lack of isn't too bad on the mains, it's about timing your push at the right moment
This ship seems like a monster! I haven’t unlocked the Regular FDG yet. Well it’s mainly because I hear a lot of complaints about the FDG. Basically everyone says that she’s just an XL Bismarck which is kind of true. I have played the Bismarck quite a lot and she is a great tier 8 battleship! I racked up quite a lot XP on her, so maybe I’ll try to go for the FDG and try her out once I get enough experience with the Bismarck. I haven’t really gone for any of the tier 9 ships in general, since one they just become so dang expensive to unlock, and two tier 9 battles are just so wonky, and three most of them never existed. My only tier 9 battleship and one of only two tier 9 ships I have is the Iowa, and the other being the fletcher. In terms of historical significance Iowa is the only real tier 9 battleship. So I guess if I was to go for another one it would probably be the Freddy. She “kind of” existed like the Russian tier 9 the Soyuz being only a partially built hull in reality but none the less was “kind of” a real battleship.
I have to recognise I was wrong on stopping the line with the bismi.. the freddy is an underrated one and I think the kurfust to.. however the current meta is tuff for this ships in some way... but yes I ll end this line at all..
It can largely depend on what server you're playing as well. I find Asia to be tougher than NA for German BBs, since the top tier meta is very big-gun heavy and defensive. NA tends to be more fluent / aggressive. If you're happy to accept some meh games in T10 for some excellent ones in T9, Freddie isn't a bad choice. I'd almost say I'd probably prefer the tech tree one tbh, since the sonar can be quite indispensable for pushes.
In Eu server is the same story but definitely the tech tree one is in my opinion a better choice due to the precise aiming and sonar.. however t9 is always a pain lol due the current mm but I noticed some balance in the amongst of t10 game I match maked in the lasts weeks.. however good review as always bud
Terry, I kindly request you to change the commander voice to regional language, because sometimes it sounds weird to listen to a german captain speak English on his ship
The main line from the North Carolina to Montana focuses on speed and maneuverability. The alternative line from the Kansas to Vermont focuses on the stupendous amount of fire power you get with them. But other than that they are basically just glorified Colorados from tiers 8 to 10. They are the complete opposite of my play style.
@@wheels-n-tires1846 Yeah the Kansas, Minnesota, and Vermont are good ships for what they are, but they just do not match my play style at all. I’m a fast battleship, battlecruiser, and heavy cruiser kind of guy. Those ships suit my play style the most. Fast, maneuverable, and hard hitting! They can react quickly to fast changing battle situations, and make a difference with their heavy artillery, speed, and maneuverability. With the new US battleships they really can’t react quickly quickly changing battle situations, and that’s what I don’t like about them. They aren’t multi role ships.
Ouch, the stock black fdg has the same range as the secondary build tech tree fdg on the manual secondaries and even the auto secondaries is quite close. I guess I'll have to go with the accuracy build on my fdg if there is something better running around.
Quite honestly, I'm on The Blitz's side when it comes to gambling for ships. As long as it has some historical value, I'm willing. Napkin designs, not so much.
Well the Freddy or “H-39” does have some historical value. She was only a partially built hull. I think she something like 20% completed before she was ordered to be scrapped in 1942. In mid ‘42 was when most of the Kriegsmarine’s projects were canceled and scrapped. And from then on the Germans made due with what they already had, since Hitler couldn’t resist the urge the keep Blitzkrieging everything, which kept on taking more and more resources away from the ship building industry.
To be honest, the missing sonar really hurts imo. Being able to get early spots on torpedoes is super important for pushes, and denying DDs to smoke up nearby. The RR & better secondaries are nice, but the precise aim can be equally useful for mid-long range shots. Plus, the tech tree Freddie actually gets you ahead on the path to the GK, which is one of my absolute favourite ships, so yeah. If I was given the choice, I'd probably play the tech tree version as well.
No gamble for me but anyways, i never got any t9 premium/black.. worst tier imo so why bother.. if then black iowa or Missouri are strong .. but nice to see german bb‘s become more viable also with recent ship skill Also stopped at bismarck, great fun with hipper on her and prinz eitel but thats about it.. might give the normal freddy a spin to try out one day..the propulsion got buffed like 3-4 times now its agile xD 🤣 lol black bismy get aa and rr skill 2! Fun story, I citadeled a French cruiser with the secondaries on my Bismarck.
Absolutely possible. The 150mm AP is pretty good. Also, French cruisers - I've citadel'd an Algerie with Myoko HE shells :)
Yeah those frenchies are pretty weakly armored!
@@FunandGameswithTerry can Cleveland’s AP theoretically citadeled a Roma at 3km then? I’ve done it a few months ago, and still find it hard to believe
