    To better explain the ID and the FECO system - from the manual:
    The horizontal axis rates the target on its size/conductivity (CO), ranging from 1 to
    50, left to right. A CO value of 1 represents low conductivity (small alloy coins, foil,
    9 ct and fine jewelry) and 50 represents high conductivity (large silver coins, copper
    items).
    The vertical axis rates the extent of the target’s ferrous characteristics (FE), ranging
    from 1 to 35, top to bottom. An FE value of 1 represents low ferrous characteristics
    and a value of 35 represents high ferrous characteristics.
    As the coil passes over a target, the detector digitally processes the target signals.
    At the end of detection, the Detect screen will display a Target Cursor and a Target
    ID Panel showing the target’s FE and CO properties. The position of the cursor is
    relative to these properties.

    Good onya Xavier, you are not only generous and self-less for giving John the opportunity to use and review this machine, but also wise because, with no patronising or BS intended to John, the run-downs that he gives machines are 'to the point', and we are left in no doubts regarding the pros and cons of the metal detector in question. An excellent review as always. Awesome 'big' metal detector, in EVERY department.

    Great review GT!!! Screw the haters mate - they can piss right off. Your reviews are simply the best on TH-cam. I am not sure of any channel who has as many reviews as you do. As for the idiot who commented about you "telling people how to use it".....I never heard you say you MUST use these settings. Never heard you say DO THIS OR ELSE! Seems to me you are just reviewing it as a feather in your cap as you have said many times before. Seems to me you are just showing off the features and options. Seems to me you told us all to READ THE MANUAL right in the video. I did not hear you preaching about what we MUST do. Again - great job. Screw the haters mate - fabulous video.

      Thanks Steve. Not sure what he was prattling on about, as I certainly was not barking orders anywhere in this video. All just my opinion, to each their own. I did not have as much time as I wanted but felt good enough for a review video. As you noted, it is just a feather in the cap review. I enjoy making review videos, so will continue to do so. Almost 99.9999% of the haters do not have a single video on their channel. So yes, screw em! I honestly don't care about most negative comments. Takes them longer to type the drivel than it does for me to click a single button. Thanks for watching my friend!

    From my own personal experience with the CTX since the spring of 2016, this machine has something different going on in the processing. For it to find SO many deep coins in places which have obviously been SMOKED for 50 years by everybody running everything…the processor(s) and comparators are working in a different way. For ME the price of the machine is justified by the results it produces, period. I don’t much care about a nail board test, as all nails are different, even if by microns, and placed differently, even if by microns. EMI and something under the floor can skew a result, so it doesn’t steer me in a different direction. What I DO care about is an honest opinion of the machine from what the presenter has seen in the field, nice work there! The more you use it, the more you will get attached to it, it’s an incredible machine even in 2022. I can’t wait to hear more of your experiences if they are forthcoming…

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the comment. I agree 100% that these tests are just examples of...fluff. I have always admitted it. Real world is the only thing that counts - and this detector does that real world VERY well in my eyes. One of the best silver sniffers ever made. I would not personally pay the price for it - but that does not mean it is not worth it. My close friend owns it, so I might use it again someday. I am no longer a Minelab dealer in 2022...so maybe not.

    I watched the whole thing and I don't own one and am not going to buy one. In the end you talked about finding three merc's and four wheaties in a spot you've pounded before. My guess, is the 30 30 is that good. I heard one review where they said, the Deus II is gonna knock the 30 30 off the pedestal for deep silver. My guess is no. Good review, thanks.

    Nice review, thank you. Guess I am the “boomer” of metal detecting enthusiasts. It used to be “experience first” with the TRS & BFO detectors of yesteryear. It took many, many hours and countless holes to gain a good working knowledge of the detector signal you heard in your headphones coupled to “the sweep” of the detector in your hand. That short tiny sound just slightly different from those of each sweep made the difference between success and failure. Things have come a long way since my first detectors of a Whites TR80 and a Goldmaster, through today, a CTX 3030 & XP Deus. But each new detector came along with increases in recoveries so all in all, the ton or so of early F&I war through War of 1812 relics I have were worth the investment of time and love of the hobby. Thanks for a nice review, enjoyed it and piqued my enthusiasm to get out hunting a bit more.

      Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Being 46...I am right in the middle where I grew up during the analog to digital crossover in the 80's and 90's. While I was not metal detecting then, I was a tech nerd with computers, toys, audio equipment...etc. My first detector (and channel review) was the Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger. What a difference from something like this. Both are awesome all the same in my eyes.

    A bit of learning on this detector. But with patience and fine tuning it I bet this detector would smoke on the beach,.. Price wise I think it is a little out of my range.. But someday maybe I will have one to swing.. Thanks for showing the basics of how to nav around the menu ..

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a learning curve for sure - but it is not as bad as it seems. Remembering where the options are in the menu is what takes the most time. The menu itself is fairly intuitive and easy to navigate. I for sure did not master it in the 2 weeks I had it - but felt good enough for a review video. The GPS and Geohunt are actually the most complicated parts of it. Thanks for watching brother.

    It seems like a really cool machine, but I don’t think it would be a machine I would ever use. They would have to do something about the weight because I only weigh 125lbs I think it would be to heavy for me to swing for long. I love the mapping system several of the other features. Good luck to those who are capable of swinging it.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My pleasure - thanks for watching. I personally would not recommend this as a first detector. The learning curve is pretty high to master it - and there is no point paying the $2000+ price tag unless a person is truly dedicated to master it. I make zero assumptions about skill level or learning capabilities - I just would not personally choose this for a first detector as it is likely to cause more frustration than fun to a beginner in the hobby. I would start with a Simplex or Vanquish (reviews on this channel) as a starting point for a year - and then upgrade if you are still interested after a year or so. Feel free to email me at thehuntergt@gmail.com if you have more questions or want to talk shop.

      It would be very hard for me to imagine that Minelab is not in some mid-late stage of development of a multi-IQ flagship to run alongside the CTX-3030. I’m completely speculating, but I think it’s a pretty safe bet. I’m also speculating that it would not necessarily replace or discontinue the FBS platform, but exist as an alternative high end variant to it. The CTX still has its advantages as a stable, smooth and reliable machine. Multi-IQ is a sparky and sensitive platform designed to address complaints that FBS is slow and overlooks small gold and micro jewelry. Each platform makes necessary sacrifices to gain its strengths and to me anyway, fit like a lock and key if you have both. We’ll see though. I’ll be eating my words if multi-IQ sends FBS/CTX to the discontinued bin.

Even in its day It should’ve been made a little trimmer, but I’d never let weight or ergonomics stop me from taking advantage of what this platform offers as long as it’s reasonably balanced, which it is. When I say figured out, I mean I watched a video on how to program my detector for finding silver coins. That's what I hunt for most, and am happy. I'm still a retard, I just have one program on each of my detectors that work for me. Actually, I have both set up so when I pass the coil over a nickel, or over a copper penny, the machine is loud. Any other objects, it sounds more like a whisper. Of course, if a penny is loud, a dime, or quarter is even louder.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want deep silver with a revolutionary ID grid system - yes - it is worth the price difference in "my" opinion. I am not aware of any detector that can sniff deep silver with an accurate ID like a CTX can. The Nox 800 is bonkers deep...but the ID and tone can suffer on fringe depths - where this holds stability much greater.
