The saddest part about Israel "Iz" Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole's version of this song (where he includes Wonderful World as well) is that he got the inspiration at about 3am, called the recording studio, went in and did it in one take. Some time later the company who own the rights to the song contacted his record company saying they loved how he did the song but would Iz consider re-recording it with the 'correct' words. They were told that unfortunately Iz had passed away in the meantime. This is a beautiful rendition of his version, Cat.
Great job on the song and great job on the video Darren - you should submit it to Apple for one of those 'shot on iphone' commercials, they would love it, ha ha.Magic hour is truly magical. I like the way Cat sings 'chi-mo - nee tops'
Another wonderful video and performance from the sweet CAT..loved it all the way..big like..you encouraged me to learn to play this amazing song by IZ and to play it along with you ..Peace and loved !
Wow. Amazing. Cannot wait to have you and Darrin out for a house concert sooner than later... this seems like a perfect one for the boat too! Look forward to more videos:)
Cat, you never disappoint. Your interpretation of Iz's interpretation is beautiful, as is the imagry. My rating: Ten stars out of five. Kudos to you and Darren, the production ninja.
I only had TWO favorite Vids on my desktop. One is Israel "Iz" Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole's Version, and the other is your version of, "If I only had a brain"... Now I have THREE favorites - Thanks!
Somewhere over the rainbow Way up high And the dreams that you dreamed of Once in a lullaby Somewhere over the rainbow Blue birds fly And the dreams that you dreamed of Dreams really do come true ooh oh Someday I'll wish upon a star Wake up where the clouds are far behind me Where trouble melts like lemon drops High above the chimney top That's where you'll find me Oh, somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly And the dream that you dare to, Oh why, oh why can't I? Well I see trees of green and red roses too, I'll watch them bloom for me and you And I think to myself What a wonderful world Well I see skies of blue And I see clouds of white And the brightness of day I like the dark And I think to myself What a wonderful world The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky Are also on the faces of people passing by I see friends shaking hands Singing, "How do you do?" They're really singing, "I, I love you." I hear babies cry and I watch them grow, They'll learn much more than we'll know And I think to myself What a wonderful world world Someday I'll wish upon a star Wake up where the clouds are far behind me Where trouble melts like lemon drops High above the chimney top That's where you'll find me Oh, somewhere over the rainbow way up high And the dream that you dare to, why oh, why can't I?
I was picking through a pile of debris one time, looking for things to recycle and I found a Kamaka ukulele from the 1950's, broken but unbowed. I sold it to a fella in Texas who planned to restore it. I like to imagine this song playing on it.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dreamed of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow

Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top
That's where you'll find me
Oh, somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly
And the dream that you dare to,
Oh why, oh why can't I?
Well I see trees of green and red roses too,

My razor aisle buddy!
By the way ,I loved your Ukulele the shape and the sound..I would like to know it's brand and I expect it was CONCERT ukulele.
