So, I’m really surprised that this one blew up! Honestly it’s still making my head spin, but I’m happy this project started to gain some traction. Usually community posts have more info on future projects, and even though they aren't Souls related, I appreciate it if you check them out regardless! Second, Elden Ring! If you're curious about my thoughts on Elden Ring, look no further th-cam.com/video/jkHLZjXJld0/w-d-xo.html And this is the DLC follow up, and likely the last Souls video until I get more ideas! th-cam.com/video/-7qnKsy8Ijc/w-d-xo.html (Also I'm aware I died to Pinwheel and Mist Noble, that's the joke. Why do you think I even included those clips in the first place?? Bloodborne was my first. I didn't even know what a perry was so yarnam was the hardest level in any game ever for me. I rage deleted it but couldn't stop thinking about it. Now fromsoftware has destroyed all other games for me. Nothing touches them.
Dude same my first run i had stopped playing because of the snake forest after that I had seen a walkthrough video that really helped me understand souls games and loved every bit of bloodborne (except chalice dungeons)
@@jimb0072 I once lost over 100k souls in that area and I was so livid. It was funny in hindsight since I was looking down at the pit of snakes and I thought "jeez that would suck to go down to" and then i fell down in that area bc an enemy hit me in the back knocking me all the way down.
The final boss of Sekiro is one of the only bosses that I immediately wanted to challenge again after I beat them, even though it took me like 30 tries to win. Such an amazingly fun and satisfying game.
@@ViviVariety Makes sense why Sekiro never got DLC. Elden ring and Sekiro where made alongside one another. I bet as soon as Sekiro released it was all hands on deck to finish Elden ring since it was amore complex and larger.
I know exactly what you mean, I think I remember reading an interview about that. It's understandable considering the scope of Elden Ring, and my hope is that Sekiro concepts return in some way in future titles.
@@specialknees6798 I got to his second (third, counting Genichiro) phase on my first try because I went in just loose and expecting to lose so I could learn his moveset, and then it took me thirty more tries to get back there consistently! I made it to his final phase about six or seven times before I got him on a really lucky, smooth run. It’s an incredible boss fight. Super fun if you know what you’re doing!
Dude how does this not have more views, I can tell you put an immense amount of effort into this, if this got out there I'm sure people would love it. Keep up the good work dude I hope you get recognized for it soon! Gonna keep watching your content from now on :)
Thanks! That means a lot to me, I genuinely appreciate the kind words. And I'm glad you're sticking around! I have a few more Fromsoft projects in mind, but they're in the very very early stages. My goal is to have a few more planned after some other projects, and finishing Elden Ring (man, some of these bosses got hands...)
My view on Sekiro regarding difficulty. It isn't easy but I think that its actually tougher for Fromsoft veterans because it took longer for us to adapt to the combat differences. I think lady butterfly was the point where I actually realize I needed to use posture and deflection (prior to that I was trying to play like it was DS). There are also a couple of spots that I think are designed to troll their fan-base which non-fromsoft players won't even notice.
I have a similar theory, I think later From games are designed to "trick" veterans. Bloodborne forces you to shun shield based combat, then Sekiro heavily punishes the roll-based combat that has been a series staple. In the end each game's difficulty is subjective but I think you're on to something for sure. I feel the same.
@@ViviVariety I would say they are adding variety. for example sekiro looks like a better entry point for action platformer players who want to get into souls series than dark souls 1.
I think with DoH the cheese is a little more tricky to learn, you might as well just play the fight normally. Or maybe it was a skill issue on my end lol I always seem to have trouble getting the cheese down compared to just fighting him.
Bloodborne was my first souls game. I remember not even being able to finish the first level I would stuck in there for hours, but once I did beat it the amount of satisfaction I got was unbelievable 3 weeks later I finally beat the game. All I could say was, this game is a masterpiece.
@@ViviVariety yep, can never go wrong with sekiro. Plus, if I ever struggle with anything, there's a ton of tools too that basically unlocks a slew of strategies and routes you can take to make fights more manageable. That's why whenever someone feels like the game is too hard and drops it, I always ask if they wanna know the locations of some useful tools they can nab to maybe help their experience. In any case, nice video and good takes all around. Subscribed. I read your pinned comment too and I just wanna say, if it's okay, just keep doing what you're doing. This video blew up for a reason. Don't be pressured to do "better". I personally abide by this message, "I'm at my best when I'm happy." Do content that makes you happy and I'm sure more people like us will get a welcome surprise in their recommended sections. Have a nice day!
@@Celatra got into actual games after 7 years of "gaming" through league. Lmao. That's why I'm late in trying out a good amount of the recommended [mostly] single player games. I'll give nioh a go to see how it is. If people are saying it's better than sekiro then Imma have to see this for myself.
Hi, I’m here from the future to let you know that Elden Ring is pretty amazing, but in a dark souls type of way! Sekiro still has the best and most satisfying combat for me! Great video dude! Watched it twice and I’m sure I’ll watch it more times! Looking forward to more content!
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words, I had a blast making this and I'm glad you enjoyed it! And I totally agree with you! I love Elden Ring so far, it's perhaps the best in the series at capturing that sense of discovery just like the original Dark Souls. I have an idea to do a more complete review on Elden Ring, but it won't be done for a little bit. I'm working on a larger project I've put on the backburner for too long, but in the meantime, I've been working on a second ER playthrough to capture footage and articulate my thoughts on it. I know it might not be done for a bit, but I'm looking forward to talkin about ER in time!
@@giancarlo1698 You should probably start with Elden RIng, its difficulty is very well-tuned and is much more open and your Bloodborne experience will carry over well. Then try Sekiro, Sekiro is an undoubtedly more rigid and harder game but has THE most satisfying learning curve just remember: keep trying, deflect don't dodge, keep very aggressive, and don't go hollow. TLDR; Elden ring is easier and more flexible and is great for a second entry, Skeiro is for those up for a rigid challenge.
This was such an awesome video. I’ve been playing souls since 2015. My order went: -Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 2, Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls 3, Elden Ring, and then I just beat Sekiro for the first time over Christmas. These games are amazing
Sekiro was my second game from FromSoft’s, Elden Ring being my first, but the quick gameplay and the ninja sword fighting aspect of it was just so badass. There’s so much about the game I love, the final boss (and the OTHER one near him) had me in a fit of rage for days but always had me wanting to come back again.
You're speaking my language! Bloodborne is my favorite overall, but Sekiro is easily my favorite to just pick up and play. No builds, no planning, just you and your sword.
A S tier video/analysis on an amazing game franchise. Keep up the great work. A well crafted video and you brought up many great points. It would be dope and I’d fully support if you want to make more videos on soulsborne games. Let’s see how the Elden Ring journey will be and where it will take us
Thanks! That honestly means a lot to me. I had an absolute blast making this, and if I can think of some creative FS projects in the future, there's gonna be more on the way!
@@ViviVariety the contents awesome already, but if you did a full break down on specifically what makes Sekiro awesome I think that would be great. You got into it in this video, an I think it would get a lot more people to try such a “daunting” game! (If you’re looking for suggestions!)
For me the love for the franchise came from the feeling of accomplishment each time a defeated a difficult boss and the intrigue of what’s next around the corner. Hands down the greatest games ever made
Honestly as someone whos played every single one of these except Bloodborn I'm intrigued and excited to watch this video, and I'm still in the intro section
people who never edited a video before really cant apreaciate how you made it that pretty much every time you talk, the gameplay is completely relevant to it. Keeping that up for 42 minutes. I was shocked to say the least when I saw you didnt at least have 50 thousand subs. This video really deserves to blow up
I started with ds2 long time ago, an ex girlfriend gift. I will always be thankful to her for this. Because I love ds2, even if I know that is not the best, is like my child, I have a story with it that will be never be repeated. That first time is special after all. The one I'm missing a lot is Bloodborne, but I don't have a console and won't for a long time probably but I already love the game a lot
That's interesting. I played DS2 first as well and I find that people who start with it have a much more favourable impression of it than people who started with DS1 and took what is mechanically a step backward to 2. 2 might be my most replayed. Do you have a preference between 2 and 3?
Sekiro was the first souls game i played, but bloodborne was the first one i beat. Lady butterfly was so hard, I shelved the game for about a year...but after 4 runs through bloodborne and it's dlc...(got my platinum), I finally went back. Since then I'm now on ng+6 in sekiro (having gotten all 4 endings), have beaten eldenring twice, (2 endings) and while I'm yet to actually beat any of the dark souls games, I never knew how good these games were. Beating these bosses gives a sense of satisfaction that few games can match.
I started with Demon’s Souls PS3 on it’s original release and it changed my world. I’m old now but I still play them and completed Elden Ring relatively easily. With these games we’ve reached the pinnacle of the medium and from this point forward they will be the benchmark of quality
I think Bloodborne is just as fun as those two. The weakpoint system for bosses alone makes Bloodborne's bosses feel like some of the most unique in the series. Plus trick weapon combos. I'd argue that Bloodborne stands alongside sekiro and elden ring as the best from software games
For me, my favorite and first is dark souls 3. The bosses on dark souls 3 are so good, the designs the patterns and oh my songs, even tho i died like "75?" times to dragonslayer armour its one of my favs in the game.
Popping into these comments to say your video here did the souls series some absolute justice. I've played and beat them all and just enjoyed watching this video for fun
Man When I saw the number of subscribers I thought there was a "K" after the number, youtube does not give you justice. The quality of the video is an S tier, how are people not watching you?!! I hope you get the recognition you deserve.
The greatest collection of games of the modern age. Everyone will have their preference, but you can't argue Miyazaki and From Software have changed the industry.
one of the reasons this franchise is so succesfull is because of the amount of time you can replay the game without getting bored becuase of the genius level and character design (mainly ds1 and bb) and thats Miyazaki secret sauce ( if you will ) which made his work a timeless masterpiece
@@mohamedfakch absolutely! I replay all of these masterpieces at least once every year. And I always wondered why they are so additictive. And I agree with you, it's because of the extremely polished gameplay and the brilliant level design that they never get old. Obviously nothing beats the first playthrough of a Mizazaki game but even those subsequent runs are engaging.
You absolutely need to try them. DS1 and Bloodborne are must plays. Best gaming decision I ever made was downloading bloodborne on a whim back in 2019, it opened the door to playing each of my favorite games of all time (Bloodborne, Elden, DS1 and Sekiro).
I sincerely appreciate you putting footage of Capra Demon in while you said “there are times when the game will have some stupid mechanical encounter”.
The coolest thing about these games is that everybody has a memorable time with it. I will never forget my heart almost bursting from my throat after defeating Gascoigne for the first time 😅😅.
Same, I still remember the first time I beat Gascoigne, he was my first "wall". SUCH a relief when I actually beat him, like I haven't felt something like that since like...beating Sephiroth in KH2 decades ago.
Holy shit the quality in this video is something else. I've always wanted a video that explains all the Soulsborne games in a single video for a newbie. How do you not have at least 500k subs
Elden Ring was the first soulsborne game I played on release. And it was amazing. With the other entries I’ve played, I find it really hard not to look things up about the game before I finish it. But with Elden Ring, it was new for everyone. I highly recommend to anyone who is mildly interested in any of these games to go in completely blind and stay blind your entire way through. It’s worth it.
My friends bought Elden Ring. They dropped it because it's too hard for them but they are willing to play it with me together once I get back to my country. Which tips should I give them so that they get hooked on the entire series?
I know this is 7 months late, but if I could name any one tip, I'd say just embrace failure. It's a marathon, not a sprint, and if you're patient and use every tool available, you WILL win. The game can kill you a hundred times, but you only need to win ONCE, and it doesn't matter how you get that W. Hopefully that made sense!
Sekiro and Bloodbourne are two of my favourite games ever made. Bloodbourne just edges it though, I think. That game just gives off a feeling that is unmatchable.
"There is so much more to this series than just difficulty" is the statement people who did not play them need to hear. I started playing these games recently, with Elden ring, and I first I thought that souls like were just horrendously difficult games for masochists. Yeah they may be hard sometimes, but that's just one aspects of these games which are first and foremost incredibly well designed worlds which you will want to explore again and again.
jesus christ how am i just discovering this gem of a channel, i love your work! the small witty jokes seemlessly transitioning into your genuine passion in describing what you love about the games. outstanding work
I swear, this games have changed my life, I recognize this is no secret for other players that feel the same way as me. But still, how can a well developed game with such a grimm story in a brutal world can make you see the faintest glimmer of hope and ultimately make you stronger? Thank you Dark Souls.
You aren't alone mate, lots of others have mentioned how much this series has affected them. There's a unique magic that's hard to articulate, and for many, the idea of overcoming adversity gives people that feeling that maybe, some things aren't as impossible as you'd think.
I started with ds1, found capra demon and blighttown to be a nightmare but it also had me hooked into overcoming the challenges. Ds2 is my favorite so far, working thru ds3 right now and partially doing elden ring and ds1 coop. Really excited to keep playing these games whenever I have time which is rarely with work and social life but I'm totally hooked. I'd tell anyone the beginning is the hardest as you're weak and with limited tools, as you progress and gain confidence in your setup, how to approach enemies timing wise, overcome some bosses, it all gets easier. I also fully stand by the "get gud" mantra, as funny as it is you will not succeed in these games if you don't try to improve on the mistakes that get you killed and challenge yourself to be better. Reading wiki or researching a build type or weapon can make things a tonne easier but even just trying a boss one more time after being super frustrated helps, I've done that a few times and it's worked, especially with some of the hardest bosses (the ones I found hard) like capra demon, o+s, 4 kings, gwyn, ruin sentinels, ancient dragon, fume knight, margott
Breaks my heart making it to the bosses arguments of this video,l. After POURING so much time into elden ring going back and reminiscing on all the glorious engaging challenging in the sense its not artificial difficulty just overall culminating a gameplay experience to go unmatched and be a huge change in gaming overall. Isshin the sword Saint is still to this day probably my favorite boss of the whole franchise and imo is the pinnacle of all of their efforts over the past decade.
Yeahhhh I admit to also having mixed feelings on Elden Ring's bosses. There are some I absolutely love, and others that are just...ugh. I have a theory that we wouldn't be so mixed on it if we weren't spoiled by such a good run of Old Hunters to DS3 to Sekiro. Then Elden Ring feels like a step back.
@@ViviVariety absolutely, just kind of disappointing like all the previous installments can easily name so many great bosses on a whim and elden ring just doesn't quite do the same thing, will say maliketh and rennala were huge standouts in my first playthrough but everything just seems more lackluster in subsequent plays. Hopefully they bring some big patch along with dlc and hope to see the game thrive for a good while
I'm with you on Malekith, for me I really liked him and Morgott. And while there's a lot to say on ER bosses, I will say that I really, really like the gameplay and story integration. It's super cool that Morgott is more or less this game's version of Genichiro, and the fact that Malekith is part of a sidequest is awesome. Bit of a teaser for the Elden Ring video but still, that's one of the highlights for me when it came to ER.
I just wrapped up Elden Ring after playing it exclusively for nearly 2months. It’s no exaggeration when I say it’s top 5 best games ever created. I would go as far as to say this is the best game I’ve ever played. It’s rare when I obsess over a game, but there’s something really special about this game, I just kept coming back. I think the biggest hurdle for most people is really understanding the enemy move-sets, learning their attack patterns and exploiting them. The other big hurdle is preparing yourself mentally that you will DIE and DIE SEVERAL times, that’s also part of the beauty. Sure, it can be incredibly frustrating, but you’ll want to keep going because it’s just that good.
I think people really underestimate the power of mental fortitude with these games, so much that I think mechanical skill is more like a recommendation, not a requirement. For example, my wife is a self proclaimed "bad gamer", like she didn't get into games until later and she generally prefers RPGs and things with less mechanical skill. Yet, despite being a so called "bad gamer", she blasted through every Fromsoft game to this date, with no summons or cheese to boot. Was it easy? Nope. But you'd be surprised what you can accomplish once you accept that you're gonna die, a lot, but you only have to win once for it to count.
I'm a newcomer to the Souls series, I've just finished Bloodborne yesteday for the first time! And I want to give Demon's Souls a try on the PS5. Watching your video I finally understood what body form and world tendancy means! Thanks a lot. I thought it was way more complicated (still is, but you did make it a lot easier to understand).
I really think a combination of Bloodborne and Sekiro would probably be the greatest game in existence. I feel like they can work out the deflection system if there are only 20 or so weapons to choose from. Also Gintama is the greatest anime of all time.
I know this is 7 months old, but can you try to sell me on Gintama? I always scroll past it on crunchyroll but always see people talk so good about it.
@@hikarinopower8090 Gintama has a slow start but… after wading through the first 20 episodes of it as my friend insisted, I was utterly hooked. It’s the single piece of media that has entertained me the most, gave me the most laughs, connected me to the characters most, and just enthralled me most out of everything I have seen. It truly is my favorite piece of media in general and it still holds a special place in my heart all these years later. The show’s staff put their heart and soul into and it shows. Truly a labor of love and I’m heartbroken that it’s over.
One moment that stuck with me ever since playing ds2 (my first souls game) was opening a door and getting jumpscared by a (nonmob) skeleton right behind it that loudly shattered into pieces at the mildest touch. Not very epic or beautiful, but it sure was my most memorable moment playing.
This is the best video explaining Soulsbourne I've ever watched. I spent an hour yesterday trying to find one, and I'm not sure why your video wasn't on the top recommendations. Very underrated video, and better yet underrated channel. You're very detailed and captivating. The tone you set is a complete vibe. Keep it up dude.
You never forget your first. And it's Dark Souls 1 for me. It's my favorite and the replayability has me playing well over 1500+ hrs. Bloodborne is second because I am IN LOVE with cosmic horror. It would be my #1 if I owned one, as I was only borrowing the game from someone for 2 weeks. I finished it but hadn't had a chance to play it again.
I'm about 3 minutes in and honestly this is some of the best editing I've seen to perfectly fit the dry pan humour and informative style. The fact you have 2k subs is crazy you're blowing up soon brother
Sometimes there are videogame franchises that are so good that their fanbase ends up eclipsing the series itself with their passion. With the Souls series, the amazing games and the amazing fans are at this level of perfect equilibrium, where I have to debate with myself if I want to start a new playthrough, or watch someone else do it, usually resulting in me doing both. tl;dr I had never smooched plastic before until I bought a physical copy of the Dark Souls Trilogy.
Bro you might have taught me how to play Sekiro here. I've been stuck on the burning bull for ages now. Gonna get back into it during my elden ring lulls.
Started blind on a DS1 playthrough via a $5 Xbox sale on my friends Xbox 360. I was able to play it on his newer Xbox and I played it completely blind. I'd go to his house to play it and he would watch me, mesmerized that i would keep trying and making my way through, all while laughing at my mistakes. To date it is the best gaming experience I have ever enjoyed, leading to many playthroughs in DS1, then a playthrough of DS2, DS3 and finally Elden Ring. I own Sekiro but I haven't brought myself to continue because of the difference in combat; perhaps with the improvement with my timing, I should give it another shot. Demons and Bloodborne are on my top list of playing next but I only own a PC for ways to play. I WISH I could inspire my friend and others to really and truly give these games a good go - do not let the difficulty on the box drive you from trying to complete these. They are beautiful worlds and many different things/concepts that the game will show you. The lore and gameworld makes you think and consider certain actions, some having irreversible consequences. These are essentially "cleansed" on your new game playthrough or through certain game actions, giving you a larger overall look at the things that happen, a new gauge to your skill level and a larger appreciation for the game as a whole.
It’s amazing to me how you go from feeling like the game is SO hard, and feels impossible to progress in the first level… to BREEZING through the first level with ease even on new playthroughs… but you didn’t get faster, your reactions didn’t change, nothing about your inner motor skills had to improve for you to get the game.. you just start to understand how it all works and you learn to swim with the current. It’s like everything about the game changes and you venture into new areas with confidence, but you didn’t need to learn how to have god aim or god speed or anything to do it. Just experience and adjusting to what you encounter
It's wild mate, one of my fondest memories was finishing Bloodborne, thinking "hey why don't I try and kill Papa G, just for fun" and IMMEDIATELY beating the ever loving crap out of him, whereas I spent like two hours the first time round. It's crazy.
Great video. Too bad the algorithm didn't catch this. I have Demons Souls & Ds2 left. This video helped be to continue my Demons Souls run( was stuck at tower of latria).
Oof, tell me about it, I wouldn't blame anyone for stopping at Latria. Luckily I played Demons Souls last so I was used to the punishment, but still, that area feels rough at times.
Dark souls 1 was my first four years ago. Since then I’ve played through every single one many times each and can still confidently say I like ds one the most. Every aspect of the game was so well thought out. The world design is incredible. It doesn’t feel like a game with many small dungeons, it feels like a game with one big dungeon. Shortcuts you open up at the beginning of the game are still used often till the very end. Every boss except bed of chaos is great, either in the fight or in the lore. Later entries just seem to have the same atorious or manus repeated many times throughout. While those bosses are fantastic, those entries miss out on some of the more gimmicky puzzle fights. Yes they have them, but most fights are just a guy flailing his sword around and you just have to figure out how to string your rolls together to dodge it. I love how in ds one, you can be easily punished for rolling a lot. And often you don’t even have to roll to dodge attacks. Spamming roll isn’t what made ds one so amazing, it’s the culmination of everything. I love the newer entries, I just wish they would go back in time in boss and level design a bit.
I think similarly at times, because as messy as DS1 is, it's so hard to top things like the level design, or even the minor things like the fact that your weapons feel like they actually have weight to it. While I generally prefer the later games just a bit more, there's something about DS1 that feels so carefully crafted, which isn't something I can say about games like DS3 and Elden Ring.
I started with sekiro and it was my first platinum. I can’t express how much I love this game. I put over 300 hrs in Elden Ring with ng+ and I’ll play Bloodborne this week. Don’t think I’ll ever go back to DS1 or 2 but I’ll definitely get to DS3 and demon souls and some point
I like how Souls games are no longer underrated. I agree 💯 with many of your commentaries. One of the most important genres in gaming also, considering we actually get to play them and enjoy their challenge, and they exist and will continue to. Imagine if there were no Souls genre at all... 🔥 Content ! Solid presentation ! 👏👏👏
This was a beautiful love letter to the amazing souls games. If i wasn't already playing the games, i would start now. You said everything i feel about those games. Thank you.
(I am reposting this.) @Vivi's Variety Show Hey man, I actually just beat sekiro. It took me a while but I got the purification ending. I cant thank you enough. I bought the game three years ago but could not even get to Ashina Castle. In frustration I quit. Three years later I stumbled onto your video. It inspired me to try again. Armed with the knowledge you gave me I restarted the game and just pushed forward. I beat all the bosses and most of the optional ones(demon of hatred). This video is one of the best I have seen on youtube. I am now starting elden ring all thanks to you. Who knows maybe I will just play all the soulsborne games. So I cant thank you enough.
Yo that's awesome to hear! I genuinely appreciate the kind words, and I'm grateful to hear that you were able to not only finish Sekiro, but be invested enough to give Elden Ring a shot. Obviously I can't guarantee you'll love Elden Ring or the other Souls games, but I'm happy I was able to help at least one person in their journey! And I hope you'll be able to have fun with the others eventually, flaws and all :)
I beat Elden Ring, and bought all Fromsoft games, and don't know which one should i start with. This is a great video and helped me a lot, thanks! Subscribed, and hope you'll have lot more views and subsribers in the future, keep up the high quality!
That's awesome! I'm always excited to see people get sucked into this franchise. I hope you have a blast experiencing everything this series has to offer.
Id say dark souls 2 because its wack Demon souls=super ez but dope Then dark souls 1 or 3 because they are good Lastly bloodborne and sekiro. Both have different playstyle than dark souls.
Can't believe you don't have atleast 100k subs... I've been playing From's games for years now and this is by far the best Fromsoftware retrospective i've ever seen! You absolutely get what makes each of them unique/amazing in it's own way and the enthuaism is felt through out the whole video. As you said, the first one is always your favorite - and for me? It's still Sekiro. But Bloodborne, Sekiro and DS3 are pretty much on the same number one spot...Just comes to my mood, haha! Btw - Those Community references are top tier👌
Thanks! That means a lot as a small content creator. And I'm in the exact same boat, like I adore BB, but the gap is much smaller than you'd think. If I'm in the mood to just pick up and play something with smooth gameplay and not worry about planning a build, I look at Sekiro. If I'm in the mood for boss fights, DS3 all the way. Sometimes thinking about a favorite is like being asked about your favorite child!
I started with demon souls ps5 and finished it but wasn't really planning on playing the others, after watching this video I'm now halfway thru ds1 and already bought the others, keep up the great work, your movie talks are awesome too
The visual gag of saying “Sekiro is often touted as one of the hardest souls games” while dying to a full health Mist Noble was absolutely genius, gave me a good laugh
I got Sekiro because of this video, and I've finally beaten it after being addicted for the past few weeks. Just an absolutely incredible experience. Thank you so much!
The ONLY thing I would change about it is I'd make it a little bit more colorful. They made it just a bit too gray overall. And maybe I'd have the enemies scream a little less so the music is easier to hear lol
Haven't watched it yet, but I hope this shows why I love FromSoft games. It's not just "ehrmagerd so hard" like people who don't know them think. The atmosphere is unparalleled, the lore so interesting, the combat so satisfying, the multiplayer so fun...
I'm in agreement, like I know people talk about difficulty, but it's not all there is about the games. I mulled over making the difficulty it's own section and cut most of it fairly early for basically the exact reason you said.
@@ViviVariety Exactly, it seems you get it too. Sure, the challenge is part of the experience but there is so much more to enjoy and people undersell those aspects because "Souls are hard and that's all there is to them". EDIT: I'm glad you mentioned Demon's Souls atmosphere. To this day it's still probably my fav game in the series. That said the remake isn't completely faithful to the original, which was a much more emotional experience. Anyways, you earned a sub.
I wanted to touch on the Remake's atmosphere and art direction because I heavily prefer the OG vs the Remake. It's just so much more haunting and atmospheric. It ended up on the cutting room floor but I'm with you, I prefer the OG Demon's Souls on all fronts.
Great video man. It's been said before but these games really reinvigorated my love for the medium of video games, and love of myself. Things haven't been going well for me the past couple of years but beating these games one by one is reminding me I can do this: I can go out into the world and face the perils of earning my keep and my dreams. Edit: It's gonna suck ass at times, and I will experience extreme grief at worst. But I just have to rest, take a breath, and go again- smarter, faster.
I'm always happy to hear how much these games help people. I know they aren't the hardest games out there, but it's always comforting to know that when push comes to shove, we're more capable than we think we are.
I think that's exactly what happened to me too! Like the minute I finished BB I had DS3 in my Amazon shopping cart, and blew through all of them before catching up around The Ringed City. When you're in the game, you're in the game xD
I actually bought Bloodborne after seeing it at gamestop every time I went there. Needless to say I wound up bending the disc in half out of rage. But for some reason while driving one day, I kept thinking about the game. Why would I think about a game that enraged me enough to break it. Truth is, it seemed like a really good game and I'm no quitter. Playstation store had it on sale, so I bought it again. Best decision of my life. Now after beating Bloodborne like five times, along with Sekiro, Dark souls 2 and 3,etc. I'm hooked. Something was telling me that these games are special.
My first FromSoft game was Sekiro ( I thought of playing ER but I had a potato pc that time)and I instantly fell in love with it. Even the characters like Genichiro and Ishhin were so intriguing. I just got a new laptop so am trying Elden Ring now :)
Great video! Started with Elden Ring and loved it so much that I had to try Sekiro next. Now I have more time in Sekiro than Elden Ring lol. The combat in Sekiro is some of the best of any video game, especially when you get a handle on it. After watching this video I am thinking of doing Dark Souls 3. I don't know if I have the patience for DS1 with the mechanics you mentioned. Helpful and thoughtful video friend 🙏
Thanks! I always appreciate the kind words. And I totally understand, like I'll always vouch for DS1 but it is a liiitttle janky. Definitely an acquired taste that you may or may not get used to.
Kingsfield actually got me into Fromsoft. They are extremely slow and clunky compared to newer games but the core elements are all definitely there. Dystopian worlds, illusory walls, constant death, heavy lore and light storytelling. I actually think the ancient city might be my favorite game of all time.
That sounds awesome. I've always been meaning to give Kingsfield a shot, alongside Armored Core. I think it's really cool seeing the "origin" of things, and it's interesting to hear that a lot of From staples were there as early as Kingsfield.
I just stumbled across this video and it was only about half way through that I noticed this wasn’t like a 300k sub channel! Criminal! I hope this channel continues to grow because this is some well made content
just got into this series myself and discovered berserk with it, this video show how special each and single one of them are, i only finished elden ring and just started bloodborne, but u just made me want to play them all. each game looks sick, the fanbase is just amazing so im very happy to have been presented to this series of game, i am looking forward for the rest and i will now go die by the hands of the black dogs from bloodborne for 2h
Dude I fucking love this video. It's actually so amazing. Really made me happy to see that someone else relate Sekiro to Gintama as well. Hope you've been enjoying Elden Ring. Absolute banger to watch man and best of wishes moving forward 🙏
So, I’m really surprised that this one blew up! Honestly it’s still making my head spin, but I’m happy this project started to gain some traction. Usually community posts have more info on future projects, and even though they aren't Souls related, I appreciate it if you check them out regardless!

I want you to know this got an instant like and a full watch with the opening Dean from Community bit... that was good.
Very excited about the Elden Ring video!
Words can't describe how much I love Sekiro and its combat system. It's the pinnacle of sword-clashing in a game
Couldn't agree more. It's my favorite to just play through, even though there's minimal build variety. It's such a blast every time.
My favourite videogame ever for that reason
Sekiro deserves more love
True words have been spoken here
The minimul build variety just gives skill and technique more importance and i think its the best thing about it
Bloodborne was my first. I didn't even know what a perry was so yarnam was the hardest level in any game ever for me. I rage deleted it but couldn't stop thinking about it. Now fromsoftware has destroyed all other games for me. Nothing touches them.
Absolutely nothing
Dude same my first run i had stopped playing because of the snake forest after that I had seen a walkthrough video that really helped me understand souls games and loved every bit of bloodborne (except chalice dungeons)
@@jimb0072 I once lost over 100k souls in that area and I was so livid. It was funny in hindsight since I was looking down at the pit of snakes and I thought "jeez that would suck to go down to" and then i fell down in that area bc an enemy hit me in the back knocking me all the way down.
I’d love to see this guys thoughts on elden ring
Thats the thing about Bloodborne isnt it, even if it pisses you off you keep going back
The final boss of Sekiro is one of the only bosses that I immediately wanted to challenge again after I beat them, even though it took me like 30 tries to win. Such an amazingly fun and satisfying game.
Same. I know it sucked Sekiro never got DLC, but considering it added BOSS REMATCHES, I was beyond excited.
30 tries to beat Isshin is pretty great from what I’ve heard.
From Soft be like: Want to see me make a masterpiece? And again? And again? And again...
Legit
This is top tier work
I found the video by accidentally clicking on it, and I agree
More doesn’t mean better, in due time those views will come.
Everything "Nathan Demeritt" said X2 jajaja, you are over a gold mine if u keep making videos with this quality
And then the game throws Demon of Hatred at you at the end, just to mess with you again 😂
@@SonKunSamathankfully there’s a cheat to beat him.
I think with DoH the cheese is a little more tricky to learn, you might as well just play the fight normally. Or maybe it was a skill issue on my end lol I always seem to have trouble getting the cheese down compared to just fighting him.
Bloodborne was my first souls game. I remember not even being able to finish the first level
I would stuck in there for hours, but once I did beat it the amount of satisfaction I got was unbelievable
3 weeks later I finally beat the game. All I could say was, this game is a masterpiece.
Sekiro will always be my top combat system. It's insane how fast and responsive the combat feels in that game.
Agreed, it's probably the entry I look to the most when I just wanna dive in and play something. It's so dang good.
Have a nice day!
what about Nioh
yeah best combat after nioh
I know it might not be done for a bit, but I'm looking forward to talkin about ER in time!
couldn't agree more
@@jamsterhamster1584 what should i go for? Should i go for sekiro or elden ring? I really wanna know. U can be bias if u want to.
@@jamsterhamster1584 will u please rate them 3 including bloodborne.
i only played ds1-3 (and now elden ring) so hearing about demon souls, bloodborne, and sekiro was really insightful! great vid, def deserve more views
This was such an awesome video. I’ve been playing souls since 2015. My order went:
-Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 2, Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls 3, Elden Ring, and then I just beat Sekiro for the first time over Christmas.
Drakengard 3 final boss is better.
This is the content that makes it worth paying for internet. Thank you
Exactly what I did this pandemic, I only have Sekiro left and just defeated Great Shinobi - Owl. Such masterpieces.
Wait until you fight inner owl lol
I will always love bloodborne but Sekiro and Elden ring just feel so good to play
I think Bloodborne is just as fun as those two. The weakpoint system for bosses alone makes Bloodborne's bosses feel like some of the most unique in the series. Plus trick weapon combos. I'd argue that Bloodborne stands alongside sekiro and elden ring as the best from software games
@@EditUnivers75 only facts
For me, my favorite and first is dark souls 3. The bosses on dark souls 3 are so good, the designs the patterns and oh my songs, even tho i died like "75?" times to dragonslayer armour its one of my favs in the game.
Popping into these comments to say your video here did the souls series some absolute justice. I've played and beat them all and just enjoyed watching this video for fun
Man When I saw the number of subscribers I thought there was a "K" after the number, youtube does not give you justice. The quality of the video is an S tier, how are people not watching you?!! I hope you get the recognition you deserve.
Bloodborne is my favorite game of all time, and Dark Souls 3 is just as good. Ive put like 400 hours into Elden ring now too
The greatest collection of games of the modern age. Everyone will have their preference, but you can't argue Miyazaki and From Software have changed the industry.
Yup yup, there's a reason there's an entire sub-genre of Souls-like games nowadays!
one of the reasons this franchise is so succesfull is because of the amount of time you can replay the game without getting bored becuase of the genius level and character design (mainly ds1 and bb) and thats Miyazaki secret sauce ( if you will ) which made his work a timeless masterpiece
Elden Ring was my first Souls game but I was always fascinated by the older titles. Maybe one day I'll get to it
You absolutely need to try them.
Thanks Miyazaki, very cool boss and room design.
You say stay blind until we run around blighttown swamp for 9 hours lol sometimes I just want a guide
I started with Bloodborne back in 2015. I've since played every entry numerous times. Favorite franchise of all time.
Absolutely phenomenal video that popped into my recommended. I look forward to more content from you
Sekiro and Bloodbourne are two of my favourite games ever made. Bloodbourne just edges it though, I think. That game just gives off a feeling that is unmatchable.
bruh i was expecting you to have minimum 500k subs just because of the quality of the video crazy you’re making videos this good at this size already
"There is so much more to this series than just difficulty" is the statement people who did not play them need to hear. I started playing these games recently, with Elden ring, and I first I thought that souls like were just horrendously difficult games for masochists. Yeah they may be hard sometimes, but that's just one aspects of these games which are first and foremost incredibly well designed worlds which you will want to explore again and again.
jesus christ how am i just discovering this gem of a channel, i love your work! the small witty jokes seemlessly transitioning into your genuine passion in describing what you love about the games. outstanding work
This vid taught me that Sakura's theme goes well in a Souls vid. Especially at the end.
No way this does not have over a million views and your channel under appreciated. One of the best souls borne vids I’ve watched keep it up
I swear, this games have changed my life, I recognize this is no secret for other players that feel the same way as me.
Brickwalls become overcame challenges who gives us this unique feeling that no game gave us before. Thats why
great video i can't believe i didn't get recommended this video until now
I started with bloodborne and is my fv game right now, and I was thinking of starting the ds series and this video really helped me
I started with ds1, found capra demon and blighttown to be a nightmare but it also had me hooked into overcoming the challenges.
The quality of this video is so good I was shocked that you only have 300 subscribers, definitely one of the channels that are genuinely underrated
Same as me, I played bloodborne and just got demons souls a month ago. It’s not as difficult buts it fun asf
I really think a combination of Bloodborne and Sekiro would probably be the greatest game in existence. I feel like they can work out the deflection system if there are only 20 or so weapons to choose from.
Also Gintama is the greatest anime of all time.
Hell, gimme five trick weapons. Sekiro + Bloodborne sounds incredible
Truly a labor of love and I’m heartbroken that it’s over.
miyazaki announced he on it 😭🙏
One moment that stuck with me ever since playing ds2 (my first souls game) was opening a door and getting jumpscared by a (nonmob) skeleton right behind it that loudly shattered into pieces at the mildest touch. Not very epic or beautiful, but it sure was my most memorable moment playing.
Dark souls 1 is one of those rare games that gets your heart pumping the first time you play it
best FS game all round in my opinion
Dark souls 1 on xbox360 was my intro into the series. God I loved that game so much. Got all the achievements back in the day. Good times.
I never played Sekiro so I was surprised to see that’s where sifu got their structure system from haha
Bro you might have taught me how to play Sekiro here. I've been stuck on the burning bull for ages now. Gonna get back into it during my elden ring lulls.
Just try to stay at the back. Don't spam attack.
"I love Dark Souls" *my attention given*
*Berserk clang* : *liked*
"What a thrill" *Subbed*
@@ViviVariety I found you via your Knk anime video. Great that your still making content. Hope you have a great day.
I'd like this comment twice if I could.
I only played DS 2 and Bloodborne so far, really looking forward play rest, man what a gaming genre 🔥
Love the melty blood music in the background Great vid
Bloodborne is my favorite
I was not prepared to hear Every Day Is Night in your opening bit and I am absolutely not complaining.
Keep sekiro for the last. It's like the cherry in top of a multilayer cake.
Id say dark souls 2 because its wack
Demon souls=super ez but dope
Then dark souls 1 or 3 because they are good
Lastly bloodborne and sekiro. Both have different playstyle than dark souls.
I smiled from the heart when you mentioned the adrenaline from a hard won victory. Thats me in Sekiro after the Corrupted Monk
I am so glad my favorite game Sekiro is getting the love it deserves over time. It was so under-appreciated after its release.
I feel like it only gets better and better with time. I really liked it on release, but every time I play it it feels even more fun and fluid!
Subbed the MOMENT I heard Melty Blood Type Lumina soundtrack - amazing choice
@@ViviVariety Exactly haha!
Keep up the good work dude ;)
I started with demon souls ps5 and finished it but wasn't really planning on playing the others, after watching this video I'm now halfway thru ds1 and already bought the others, keep up the great work, your movie talks are awesome too
The visual gag of saying “Sekiro is often touted as one of the hardest souls games” while dying to a full health Mist Noble was absolutely genius, gave me a good laugh
I got Sekiro because of this video, and I've finally beaten it after being addicted for the past few weeks. Just an absolutely incredible experience. Thank you so much!
I'm so glad you liked it! I'm over the moon to have helped someone get into the series, especially Sekiro :)
Bloodborne is the greatest game ever made
The ONLY thing I would change about it is I'd make it a little bit more colorful. They made it just a bit too gray overall.
And maybe I'd have the enemies scream a little less so the music is easier to hear lol
I saw a Gintama excerpt and I was hooked by this video
I can't believe the level of quality of your editing and writing, here to support your rise. 🤘
Thanks for the compliment! I appreciate every bit of support :)
Stumbled upon this and I must say, what a great vid. Nicely done my friend.
42 minutes felt like 10 brother. Great video.
A year ago I hadn’t ever tried any fromsoft game. Now I’ve played every single one except dark souls 2 and 3
I think that's exactly what happened to me too! Like the minute I finished BB I had DS3 in my Amazon shopping cart, and blew through all of them before catching up around The Ringed City.
When you're in the game, you're in the game xD
Trust me, Ds3's DLC "The Ringed City" will be one of the most unforgettable moments in the souls series
DS3 was my first souls game back during summer 16. It is so nostalgic for me, my best friend and I bonded over that game.
I'm glad you gave them a second chance! Its awesome to hear all sorts of stories like that.
My first FromSoft game was Sekiro ( I thought of playing ER but I had a potato pc that time)and I instantly fell in love with it. Even the characters like Genichiro and Ishhin were so intriguing. I just got a new laptop so am trying Elden Ring now :)
Hope you have a blast! It's really different from Sekiro, but I think you'll have fun regardless :)
That brief DS2 clip in the intro awakened an ungodly rage in me because it made me think of Armorer Dennis
I get a lot of Core-A Gaming vibes from your video style. Definitely a compliment. 👍
That's such a huge compliment. I'm honestly at a loss for the right words. But I appreciate the kind words for sure, it means a lot to me.
I just stumbled across this video and it was only about half way through that I noticed this wasn’t like a 300k sub channel! Criminal!
I hope this channel continues to grow because this is some well made content
I recently appreciate that! I'm happy this project started to gain traction, but my hope is that it's the first of many!
just got into this series myself and discovered berserk with it, this video show how special each and single one of them are, i only finished elden ring and just started bloodborne, but u just made me want to play them all. each game looks sick, the fanbase is just amazing so im very happy to have been presented to this series of game, i am looking forward for the rest and i will now go die by the hands of the black dogs from bloodborne for 2h
Loving your little RKG/Prepare to Try references!
Gotta rep the fellow Slugs!
Dude I fucking love this video. It's actually so amazing. Really made me happy to see that someone else relate Sekiro to Gintama as well. Hope you've been enjoying Elden Ring. Absolute banger to watch man and best of wishes moving forward 🙏
Great video mate. I recently became fan of the series and this video has only furthered my excitement to play them all
Glad to have you join the club! I know the video is far from perfect but if it could inspire just one other person, then it was all worth it :)
i absolutely love the fact you showed the area at 28:41 whilst talking about playing ds1 first.
nice
