SUBSCRIBE to my TH-cam channel, I have a very very very rare interview coming soon of a private meeting the music industry had with a few chosen rappers in the 90's on the foul direction change of hip hop. A must see.
Lyor was the one who had Irv, Suge, Dame and J Prince offices raided by the FBI. Because had they not been, they would have outdone Def Jam based on independent branding and easier marketing in regards to their legit fan bases, especially Rap-A-Lot. J Prince was the only one to survive that raid but still faced the harassment without suffering the way the other 3 men did. This is documented.

He uses too many filler words "you know" and "hem" here and that's why he talks slowly nowadays. That's a good technique, guys. If you use too many filler words, talk slowly, let your voice have resonance too and people will listen to you intently.
Wtf you talking about. Go listen to the breakfast club interview again. He starts every sentence with um and says it twenty times in each sentence. On G's. All y'all go listen and tell me I'm wrong instead of blindly agreeing and thinking this dude cooked tryna sound deep. He talk slow and say um cause the mf have a speech impediment. But he a genius whose brain work faster than his mouth. Facts!
I don’t think some people will be able to hear this guy. He’s singing Irv’s praises...both cause he respects him AND because it’s in his interest to do so since he has a “piece”. Like he acknowledged being happy about. Makes me wonder if some of his style is a front but either way, I like how he’s coming across in this interview
I don't think its a front, it's more that Lyor has a callous and indifferent attitude to the whole situation. At the end of the day, Irv figured out his worth and moved accordingly....it's not really Lyor responsibility to teach him the trade of the music business, Irv basically took initiative on his own to learn the business and move accordingly. Sadly, Lyor will also get his take. Business is sometimes not for the faint of heart, and you damn sure don't get what you deserve, but what you negotiate.

Yes that’s how clever he is to sing the praises of Irv. And part of him does probably admire Irv in some way. However, I’ve been hearing about this guy for over 15 years when he was first welcomed into the fold of young and quite talented artists whom he almost praised them to the point of seeming totally genuine and just a hip and forward rap music lover. Once DMX allowed him into his intimate circumference; began to show a less humble and affable guy who was smart to involve himself with these urban rappers but in time began to dictate their direction and monetary endeavors. He knew what a gold mine he had embarked on. Like many who prove to be culture exploiters. He turned in many artist he was happy to work with at the beginning., he became less than a trusted rap enthusiast with fair business intentions. Several artist spoke of bad encounters with mr cohen.
He may be rich now but when he’s dead and gone he will be remembered for being an exploitive psychopath while people like bob Marley, dmx, and 2 pac live for ever as angels
It’s interesting how some are taking these comments one way and the other half are taking them the other way. People with VICTIM MENTALITY wanna say Lyor is a scumbag. People with a GANGSTER MENTALITY see what he says as a compliment. I feel like he was giving Irv Gotti his flowers for being a REAL G and TAKING what was his.
