  • This is the fruit of my first attempt a freehand chainsaw milling, although the results aren't perfect it is my first attempt and I am confident that as I gain more experience I will be able to produce better lumber and more efficiently

I will be attempting the freehand method this summer, looks doable. Thanks for the great footage. Would like to see where you used those beams.

Hi Skyman, freehand is really satisfying and once you get a hang of it, it is very quick too. The main issue is that it is very labour intensive ( also bec areful not to cut off your toes!!!) 😆🤣😆

Excellent. I have tried similar things with a "post maker" and chainsaw. You are right; it is labor intensive but the payoff is worth it when you have something you made with your own hands and what nature provided. Cheers and keep up the good work!

I also have a beam cutter, and they are used widely in this area. Right now I am building a sawmill and that will improve my productivity
