  • Lateralus was a big success for Tool, and we are excited to give our first-time reaction to The Grudge, Eon Blue Apocalypse, The Patient, Mantra, and Schism.
This is our first time listening to this album. We are re-experiencing classic rock music, an album at a time, with fresh perspectives and active ears, so that Dev can learn and appreciate this music more, and so that Mike can relive his childhood.

So, as others mentioned, the artwork on the album was made by Alex Grey, who's a good friend of the band, especially of Adam Jones, the guitar player. Adam is not only Tool's guitarist, he's also the band's visual art director and he's responsible for producing and directing all their video clips and their live performance videos and laser show (which I can tell you, it's out of this world). Adam is a former Hollywood FX specialist, who worked on some major blockbuster movies, like "Jurassic Park" and "Terminator 2". The more you find out about Tool and their music the more you'll like them, but also the more you discover about their members and their respective side projects (both music wise and also not music related) the more your respect for them will grow. If you do a deep dive into them you'll eventually find out why not only they're considered by many Pink Floyd's successor, but also why they're viewed in the music industry as one of the most influential bands of the past 30 years and why their fan base is so huge and devoted that allowed them to overthrow Taylor Swift as the number one selling artist when they released their last album "Fear Inoculum" in 2019, without promoting or resorting to any sort of marketing. Mind you, this was also after a 13 years hiatus from their previous album "10000 days" being released (2006).

Favorite band and favorite album, well 1A) Lateralus 1B) Aenima. I love how yall are not pausing the songs while listening. Tool meant for their albums to be listened too straight through. Every song flows beautifully into the next one.
I see alot of people suggesting to have the lyrics open while listening to them. I actually recommend that for a second listen and not a first. You don't want to get distracted and lose the beauty of the entire bands contribution. The music moves you as much as the lyrics. Their songs hit me differently every time I listen to them.
Look forward to seeing the next reaction installment of the album. I was going to say the next couple of songs are personal favorites of mine, but that really applies to every song on this album. Tool does not have a bad song, which is mind blowing!
