This is actually really awesome to come across this particular video after I joined the Karma server the other day. I ran across four fully geared people literally 2 second after spawning, I see them running at me. So I immediately just gave up and walked to them, cuz what can ya do? They were super nice, gave me food, told me what wasn't looted near me and let me know where the fights were just going on at before explaining everyone will most likely kos me and be safe. Then we just went seperate ways.

I'm all for having KOS PVP servers and won't complain about KOS in most situations, however, I love having the option of talking to someone I see first only to hear back "Yeah, friendly! I'm friendly" followed by them coming around the corner and shooting me. I get it, it's hard to trust people but sometimes after days of KOS and several solo runs I'm just looking to make a friend and run around together.

This playstyle is what the game is designed for, but it’s ruined by the community that treats it like a team deathmatch. But yeh when you run around for hours being friendly just to get KOS’ed it turns you into a KOS’er too I get it. Maybe if more youtubers played like this. The community slowly goes back to the way it should be in my oppinion, so credits to you man. (btw if anyone wants to find a server where this happens more often, try vanilla(+) servers. KOS is way less common in those.)

I've always felt that DayZ is about the journey and the interpersonal interactions. There are plenty of games where KOS is the whole point. Struggling and adventuring with random people is much more fun. If people want to KOS, that's fine, there's no wrong way to play the game, and what's most enjoyable obviously varies from person to person. But VOIP is in the game to support emergent gameplay. You haven't really played until a stranger saves your life or makes you a splint, or fought a bear together. Or been betrayed. Or betrayed someone.
Last time I ran into friendlies after half an hour I found out they were cannibals. I thought it was just one guy with the kuru giggles, but then more showed up and they all had it. So I did the only thing I could do. I shot a guy in the face and ran as fast as I could. Didn't even loot him and he had some nice stuff.

I myself have struggled through DayZ SA too actually engage in PVP as the main thing that keeps me interested in the game...due to sheer amount of time i spent on arma 2 dayZ mod was i was younger (which was pure pvp/base raid/trader), i know difference between the mod and SA are hugely different, dayZ SA opened up that exploration gameplay that the Arma 2 dayZ mod lacked......and when DayZ SA started to get real good running on the Enfusion engine, is when i really started to get into SA..
while i spent most of time teaming up with randoms and exploring on the ZERO servers.......I joined a roleplay server, which roleplay too me at the time was something i did not understand and i was interested too see what it was all about, that day I met two of best friends a Lad could ask for in a time where i needed the company the most (not that i felt that way), the year before my mother passed away, now I've never been all doom and gloom about it some grief of course....but it stressed me out to point where i'd stop caring too socialise or to take interest in other people well being or my own.
meeting those two lads (Polizey and Grandpar spoon) , getting into dayZ roleplay gave me place to come out of my shell, a place too rebuild a small part of myself as i was able to try out all sorts different approaches and behaviour and so much more.....also in time those two lads invited me too join a small arma 3 Mill sim unit which gave me community and in time passion, so the overall experience helped too repair a small part of my humanity and being a part of that community and for past two years we are now close friends and help to keep other sane and entertained.
the reason i have struggled with too throw my self in PVP at the sound of every gunshot, is just that because i met those lads that became my best online friends and cos of all the random team ups i've done over the past 3 years....everytime i pull that trigger or think about it, too me its like wasted opportunity as i've met so many awesome people in dayZ SA.......DayZ too me is like a big online pub/bar where anything can happen its so much more than just looter shooter, survival game too me.

After 2k+ hours, I stopped KOS’ing because I realized that actual interaction with ransoms is a lot more fun than a thrilling gunfight. (WARNING: Long Story) Just yesterday I met 2 guys just outside of Berenzino on the way to Gorka. They were sitting by the side having a campfire. Both of them were lone players and not teamed up, oddly enough. We exchanged goods and some words, turns out we were heading the same direction. Toward NW Airfield. So we said our goodbyes and I was on my way. Shortly up the road is a “road block” of sorts right before Gorka and I saw 2 heavily armed people. I ran back down to the campfire to warn them and one guy offered to team up against them. Alas, we ran to Gorka with no sight of them. We continued on through the town looting and ran into another random who wasn’t so friendly. I ended up dying after trying to talk, so then I decided to run back up to Gorka after getting a Berenzino spawn in hopes that I might find my newly found comrades. Turns out one of the randoms had died- but the other guy avenged our deaths and surprisingly waited around for us to come back, not knowing if we actually would or not. So him and I traveled from Gorka to Novy, from Novy to Stary, and at the Stary Military Compound we were met with another stranger. Who, like me, was tired of KOS’ing and wanted to give interaction a chance. We traded goods, and he was too on his was to NW Airfield. We decided we’d accompany one another to NW and split up after and go our separate ways. Until we heard multiple gun shots of varying calibers. We thought it was best to team up and figure out where these shots came from. After a tense hour of cat and mouse, we finally got one of our shooters and carried on further North toward Tisy Military. We stopped through multiple towns collecting gear and loot along our way. We decided to settle in a town up North and are currently building a base together.
Sorry for the long story but this video, and my prior interaction, reminded me of how fun DayZ actually can be without the PvP die and loot process. Thanks for the amazing content as always, M1NDR!

Jesus man, you realised this after 10k hours??? I realised this after about 100 hours. This game's strength above ALL other games is the awesome experiences you'll have when you don't KOS and you get held up, or you hold someone up, or you team up or whatever t.f. happens.

I only have 60 hours played but for sure player interaction is better than kos. First guy I met and talked too, we spent at least an hour laughing in a cabin while he was naked trying to cure his sickness. Great game.

I have around 3000 hours on dayz and I really enjoy playing it, but now I’m in like a down part and it’s not that fun anymore, but I have learned that that is a part of the game and if I know myself right I will always come back to it

I made tons of content for dayz, mainly guides- the pvp can be fun but truly the stories that one is able to create are so much rewarding to both the community and the creators... I was happy to see my videos take off but unlike minder I stopped making dayz content when I reached my burn out point... my hat goes off to you my dude, keep finding ways to motivate the community in a positive way 💪

Dayz was at its peak “enjoyment” when everyone spoke to each other a few years ago. Of course I still have fun, and enjoy my time, but the nostalgia is real. Now it’s just kill, loot, kill. There’s been a few times my group and I completely changed a server and everyone started talking, but it never sticks

I've been gaming for 22 years (28yo right now). When I think back about the fun moments I had in-game, it was with strangers. It was with complete strangers that I ended up playing with for months on end. Whether it was on Ultima Online, WoW, CoD, BF, more recently Fortnite, Tarkov or anything else. Even with my IRL friends (you jealous ain't you), I never had as much fun and excitement than just randomly meeting something, teaming up and just getting along.
This is what makes me wanna get DayZ, but the amount of mods and different servers feels overwhelming for a newcomer (also one reason I never played Rust seriously I guess)

To reach Dayz ultimate enlightenment, a Buddhist Monk's level of astonishing patients would be able to do this indefinitely even after repeatedly being KOS, betrayed even killed by a child for LULs. It's just not in the human psyche to let it go when wronged. i hope you pull it off man, a noble experiment.

I loved this video, this is what makes DayZ unique for me, I've played so many games over the years but I just love the spontaneity this game offers there's just always so many opportunities for great experiences if you play the game like that.
It doesn't always work out that way but once you're comfortable with your gear, not afraid to lose it and give people a chance it can make for some interesting encounters even some new friends, DayZ is for me very unique. I'm kinda new to the game and only really met one friendly player so far. I was plating on endgame and I tried to climb up a ledge up to the armory on the oil rig....it glitched and I was in the suspended animation, I fell broke my leg...no rags... certainly not any bushes on the rig haha so I lay there with a good view of the main stairs up so I could see anyone approach as I was in am elevated position and I was going to be there a while so wanted to be able to defend myself if I had to. I could see someone approach and I spent a good minute deliberating whether to kill the guy or not wrestling with the idea I took my gun out I put it away out again away and then I just said right let's see how this plays out. He had a gun on his back and a crowbar also.
The guy approached me and just asked how can I help you out, he ran around trying to find sticks and a rag he was very helpful, he stayed with me the whole time as my leg healed and protected me, we shared my water, food and when we swam back to the shore he was flashing red food and water so I ran to the nearest water fountain got him some water and food then we ran back to my base and he joined the settlement.
So folks take the risk, I asked myself if my leg was not broken would I have killed him...and I would've but after that experience I wouldn't have I learned to have some faith in humanity and don't always Kos.

This is great, so many players in dayZ, are quick to take the p#*s out of players that don't generally pvp, or like myself, have a few hundred hours, with only a handful of kills.,but also, only having a handful of deaths to other players also!, the fun is having great interactions, and also staying out of sight, its a game all in itself and far more rewarding. I don't really even go into major military sites, because i like having just the basic weapons, as i dont really intend on defense, but i can when necessary, I've proved that to myself. Watching and waiting, to see a players actions, then making a more "informed" decision i much more preferable in my own personal opinion.

Mindi: "I have decided to no longer kill on sight. Today I did not try to kill on sight the first person I saw, only the second person I saw. And third. But he aimed at me with his scoped rifle! Like I keep doing to people. Then the next guy we met we held up at gunpoint, tied up and robbed. I'm practically a Quaker."
Reminds me of my tabletop rpg players: "But it was an ambush in self-defence!"

It took you 10,000 hours to realize that killing on sight limits the game to a drawn out, sh%ttier version of call of duty? Well, better late than never. Sadly, most people will never figure out that there's an infinite number of different interactions with players, and they limit that number to 1.

In other games like cod, I can’t really remember all the kills. I didn’t even think about who i killed there.
In Dayz the situation is different. Sometimes I think about what’s the story of this survivor I just killed? What kind of struggles did he have during his journey until this moment when the screen became dark..

I would say as a EF Tarkov player after VOIP was introduced many players switched to little talks and funny ecounters than just running into each other and one being killed. Now funny stuff like catching someone being pinned in a room with only one exit may turn into funny ecounter like
"Okay, leave your backpack and you can go alive".
    "Really????"
"Yea, im gonna pass and just rob you by taking your pilgrim, you are free to go"
    "Yooo dude thanks"
    And so on...

These are the best type of lives in Dayz. In situations like the one at the end I'm always left wondering what ended up happening after I died.
Sometimes when you're the one who survives you'll be in a real bad way, starving, freezing, fighting off zombies and wolves on blinking red health/blood passing out every 60 seconds and somehow you still live.
I wonder how many people I ran with ended up winning the fight and going through all that, being on deaths doorstep for a hot minute then pulling through & doing more crazy shit with the same character.
