Yes funny I saw that. I covered a story before where they were going to test your mood with their devices so I was thinking about that. Thanks for sub.
Does anyone know if Craig has done a video on the best Thunderbolt 4 cables? And also the best way to connect older USB devices to new Thunderbolt 4 or 5?ports?
Is there a way to get rid of the A.I. on the Mac to save storage? Can you get rid of the Image Playground, chatbot and others? When or if I get a Mac, I plan on deleting a bunch of apps like image playground, garage band, iMovie, and I plan on keeping the A.I. Turned off. It’s ridiculous to be forced to have 20 gigs of storage held up with something you’re not using.
I finally allowed one of my M1 Minis to update to Apple Intelligence. As always, I disable Siri, so I simply turned it off Apple Intelligence, too, to avoid distraction from this feature. My external drive setup was not affected, so I was quite pleased. I noticed a few new wallpapers, but I update just for any security improvements. Nice little jump in features. Also...my Asahi Linux on the same machine was not at all affected. Apple has been really cool in just allowing me to use Linux without complaints or breaking anything. No gripes from me on macOS 15.2... My local retailer JUST put those M4 Minis on the shelf. Good gosh, that thing is tiny...what a beauty, though. That Hofbräu looks good! Prost!
I just keep Apple Intelligence off on all my devices just like Siri. I’ve been using Apple products for 15 years without needing any kind of voice assistants or AI, or any Apple smart home features, I can still go on without them. I want full control in my hands.
I cant help but notice the start up time of my Mac mini M2 Pro with all the latest updates, it used to be almost instantaneous when first purchased now it dose what seems like two separate start up sequences on launch. The sort of thing I have noticed on prior Macs after 5 to 10 years not after a year or so.
@@craigneidel Really? I have a 490G hard drive and 32G of Ram. All my memory is on external drives terabit drives. The start up was blisteringly fast but after recent updates the first bit up to the sign in section is still fast then after sign in it slows right down.
@@craigneidel Just checked M3 MacBook Pro-4.84 I have been using LLMs locally on all of my devices, this way I have my own choice. I refuse to let anything leave any of my devices to go out to the web. ie..ChatGPT. I cannot believe Apple would allow this as security conscious as it has been in the past. I will bet their lawyers have put a new clause in the TOS that once a user allows ChatGPT, Apple is no longer liable for anything that occurs. That said I am going to watch a Steve Jobs movie now.
To the claim of the end to the new product streak, I have to oppose with the new Mac Mini form factor in 2024. For if you estimate that the iPhone XS Max deserves a mention in 2018, that same logic should be extended to Apple’s latest desktop computer.
@@craigneidel I accidentally cracked the screen. But I always buy Applecare+. And sent the phone in to have the screen replaced, but the Apple tech apparently refused to replace the screen claiming the damage isn't covered under Applecare+. And I told the Apple rep on the phone to refund me my $31 charge then, but she refused but after arguing for 30 minutes, she said she'd "appeal" or whatever that means with a higher up. I said they were paid but a screen replacement, but the tech refused. And she tried claiming the $31 charge was to have the phone inspected, even though the prior rep on chat promised the screen would be replaced, and the charge was discussed as for a screen replacement. Anyways, I think I'll just drive to an Apple store and see if I can get them to swap it out with a new one for the $99 charge. If not, then I'll stop by Best Buy to see if they will, as there are some Best Buy's authorized by Apple for Applecare+ repair. Though I'm sure I could at least get Best Buy to replace the screen under Applecare+ as they'd be hungry for the work. The screen still work. Guess Apple's tech was worried about get cut or whatever.
the NN ruling was good. Companies that use a ton of bandwidth (video streams) don't want to keep paying ISP's for using all the bandwidth, they just want it for free. The cost for infrastructure that allows for that stuff to work would just be passed to the consumer instead.

Nice. I have used a few products and hubs from them and for the price they work well. But of course I'm only one tester. Thank you

I think you can turn it off or not enable it and somebody said it saves space but I didn't try that yet.

9:49 great. All companies need to slow down releasing new products. The planet is on fire.
Maybe but one new product in a year for one of the world's largest companies isn't a huge concern. It's thousands of small products by one company.

Apple can be hard to work with at times. I have had a few run ins with them.
One benefit of keeping my 13 Mini is that Apple Intelligence won’t work on it! One more reason to keep it!

For audio recording, mixing, production etc., why even bother with Apple AI, seems pointless ?
I didn't say to use it for that...
No one sees Apple as an innovator anymore, so they're going to see Apple Intelligence as bloatware. Tim Cook needs to go.
