I’m a 66 year old grandma and did this. The only thing I had a hard time with was the electrical connection-be sure to pull back pretty far so you can connect it. Great tutorial. Thank you!
I'm so grateful for your video...! No extra talk, just the straight goods, and it all worked..! We actually kept pace with you, because we used an electric driver, instead of a manual screwdriver. Mention to your viewers that it can be a bit tricky to get the electrics re-clicked back in, but it worked. ALL GOOD. THANKYOU...! And the handle, from Amazon, was 19 bucks. Job done..!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This was a life saver. My son some how had the entire handle broken in pieces. I was tired of rolling the window down to open the door and decided to repair it myself. Your directions were spot on. Especially that part about making sure to pull the lock case back.🙄
Thank you for your well-detailed video tutorial. It was incredibly clear and to the point, making the entire process straightforward to follow. In addition to purchasing the part you recommended, which was very reasonably priced, I also picked up a set of plastic pry tools at Harbor Freight for just $6.00. They were a tremendous help in easily prying the door panel open. Thanks to your outstanding tutorial, the whole replacement procedure took me around 30 minutes, and now everything works like new. Thank you again for sharing your expertise!
Excellent small details in this video for removing and reassembling the door. I watched a different TH-cam tutorial for taking the door off for a window replacement and had lots of little frustrations (like making sure the electrical slider is pulled all the way back before re-inserting) that this video makes clear ahead of time. Great work!
1000% spot on, thank you so much for this. The drivers door handle broke and it will be several days before I can get a replacement. I watched your video twice and in less than 10 minutes removed the interior from both front and rear doors, removed the rear handle, installed it on the drivers door, and replaced both interiors. Thank you again! Especially for the tip about the locking slide on the power window connector. And it appears that the door handle was already broken, and some "mechanic" had "fixed" it by holding it together with a cable tie (zip tie).
Excellent video. That's exactly what i needed. The hardest part was getting the electrical harness off. Otherwise, it was as easy as you made it look. Thank you!
This is a great video. Thank you! I now have the confidence to do the job myself. I just received the replacement part tonight, so I do the job in the morning.
I was able to replace the handle without taking the door apart. I made sure that the correct cable was on the locking part of the assembly. After I put it back together, the door lock will not lock or unlock. It's as those the cable has too much slack. The piece barely moves. The locking mechanism, (plastic part), barely moves, when I try to lock or unlock it. This is the 3rd handle I've ordered and they all do the same thing. What is causing this and how can I fix it? Thanks in advance.
I just replaced both my car fronts using this video. It's worth mentioning that most probably the screw caps are going to break. Both mine broke and I just spent $24 at autozone for replacements.
Had trouble putting the connector with the locking mech. It’s a lot easier when you straighten the wires to pull it back further. Looking back at the vid the wires are straight whereas mine were bent 90 degrees.
That's more than likely because someone had put them in with needle-nose pliers without removing the interior door panel. Mine was the same, plus a cable tie holding the broken bits together. Gotta love professionals!
Nice video but you forgot how important it is to press the water shield back onto its watertight position. You put the door panel back on with the plastic shield hanging loose. Very important to press it back onto the sticky stuff so you have protection from water getting in places you don't want it.
Is there a way I can remove the inside door handle without removing the door panel? My door is stuck in the locked position. I am hoping to get to the rods that will unlock the door through the handle. Any information will help. Thanks in advance.
I got the door panel off easily enough, but no matter what I do, I can't get it back on. It seems to fit over the top, but I can't push it into a position where the tabs align with the holes. Any ideas?
Ok, here is what I had to do, in case anyone else has the same problem. It was too tight a fit to push the whole thing down at once. Do it with the window rolled down, so you can see what is happening from both sides. Tilt the panel down toward the front of the door, and secure the tab closest to the side mirror over the metal edge of the door it is supposed to fit over. Then push hard against the panel (towards the door frame) as you lower the back end of the panel, making sure each tab in turn fits over the edge of the door. It helps to look down the edge of the door so you can see if the tabs are going over the edge. If you've ever installed a stick of memory into a memory slot on a computer, it's the same idea; don't try push the whole thing in at once, get one end secured in place, and then push it down front to back.
