I mean the 30 does sound better, but it’s also almost $4000. The 15 still sounds fantastic and it’s only 1/3 the price, so it’s a great value. I ordered my DGT 15 w/cab about two weeks ago. Can’t wait to get it! Thanks for always being so accessible sir. You are the “people’s” guitar player!
Hi David! Great seeing you at Guitar Center. I really enjoyed this quick comparison. They both sound wonderful - dripping in tone. All the best, Michael D.
Great quick comparison. The 15 sounds good, to my ears the 30 sounds better but that is what I expected. Big price difference and glad the 15 came out as affordable. Need a combo for both.
Both sound fantastic! I will say I hear more of an immediacy with the 30w right off the hop. I toggled between 0:34 and 1:40 and there just seems to be more snap in the 30w (which is to be expected I'd think!) Not as hairy (built up) in the low mids. Great amps and I'm very tempted to sell my MK5 25 head for the 15. Great job!
That's pretty amazing considering the difference in wattage. It's a testament to your ears and how you tuned the amps to your sound so high marks for achieving that goal. I prefer the slightly less compressed sound of the 30 and it reminds me of seeing you with Paul at a John Mann's Guitar Vault event a few years ago. The 30 was loud AF and the tone was smoking!
I like my low to be just out of the bass players territory and not at all muddy. And clarity is a must. DG gets the closest to my dream tone so the 30 is on the maybe one day list cause I have a ec twinolux that roars and gets me there but this dgt 15 can rip as well as hit street corners fast. I'm getting one. Thing is now I hope any follow up 30's get the same features. Well done David and Doug
Your amp is the only el84 thats close to el34's. Sounds great. Im old and remember Guene Hall and early Ely days. Like to hear it w a good 4x12 w greenbacks.
Yea, definitely the 15 has slightly less dense or solid note & chord attack and lacks a touch of cleaner bitey throw power than the 30 watt. Nice demo, both are great for different venues!
@@DavidGrissomguitar thanks, I remember you saying in the past that you don't really close mic, that you keep it 4-6 inches away . whatever it is you do , sounds awesome.
So, nobody ever asked about how the fifty and the thirty compared? (You can step on my Blue Suede Shoes, but pleeeease don't throw me in dat briar patch! 😸)
With the same settings it’s slightly cleaner. You can clean/clear up the 15 by turning the volume down a hair. Think AC-15 vs. AC-30 or 50/100 watt Marshalls. One gets there quicker
Just ordered your signature amp today! Can’t wait to crank this through some 68 greenbacks and vintage 30s! 🤘🤘
Both sound great!

Thank you!
Thank D! This was very, very helpful and Paul must be excited you going the extra mile to help address differences.

Shit yes, this is cool. You & Doug ended up with a badass pair of amps here, Dave
Very nice comparison

sounds great, like your video better than the "official" ones. Different cab, mic (placement) ? awesome , thanks
Thanks👍. I use a Beyer M160 ribbon mic on almost everything.

Its just not as throaty on the 15 still sounds great brother
The 30 sounds less compressed and the notes seem to jump out of the guitar more.
I agree. Smoother yet clearer, being less compressed. Interesting comparison.
.... what brand of tubes do they come with. thanks
They come with JJs. You can use the NOS Russian power tubes that come in the 30 if you want a bit more headroom .
@@DavidGrissomguitarcan this take a different power tube besides an EL-84??
…..you can use a military grade El84 (7189) if you want
