I bought a CC sport in November for about $25K and love it. At that price I'd say it blows it's competition away in looks and handling. I couldn't be happier.
this car is so good looking and well equipped even by todays standards. it has: front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, navigation, headlight washers, dual zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, auto dimming mirron, and even a parking camera! (big deal for 2008)
Bought this car recently, it's amazing. Runs great, interior is amazing. Quick, easy handling, and so much fun to whip. I recommend it, only issue is that my seat memory does not work. I believe there is a fuse out, anyone else have this issue?
@Tyler, you are in a $$$$ in repairs and random lights. This particular year, with the 2010 and 2011 were terrible in reliability. Lots of electrical kinks and tire camber issues.
Actually, the Haldex setup that VW uses on these cars doesn't send 100% of the available tq to the rear....but thats not even what I was talking about. I'm talking about FWD proportions. Notice how FWD cars have a short axle-centerline to "firewall" ratio! If thats not bad enough, VW makes it more noticeable with the enlarged front overhang. And this applies to 4Motion examples too, considering they're FWD based also.
smog filters trap the exhaust air and filter out the worst pollutants through a muffler-like device called a catalytic converter, although these do a lot of good and prevent a lot of smog from getting into the air, it causes the engine to work harder, thus not be as powerful. its just like how your a/c system causes your car to not accelerate as fast as it would normally because it has to work harder to turn the a/c pump. hope that explanation helped.
i actually reviewed my owners manual because i was sure i had read somewhere something on the distribution of power regarding the 4motion system and it turnes out that in theory the 4motion haldex set up can in theory refer 100% of torque to only one axle
Well, since you're asking, I drive a 1993 300SE. My comments have been about styling and design proportions. In my original statement I agreed that VW has the engineering correct (they usually do). My only gripe is with the styling. The rear is exceptional. The front, however, is questionable because of the "coupe" presentation on a FWD vehicle architecture. Don't get me wrong. I love German cars. My tuner-toy is an 88 VW GLI 16V!
He compared it to C class in the end because he said driving dynamics was similar. Comfortable with a bit of sport thrown in. It looks nothing like a c class but prices can match up depending on model. CLS is the expensive Benz which the CC only shares the 4 door coupe concept with.
You have no clue, its a dead ringer for a mercedes cclass, CLA 250 looks so close, i have to look at the emblems to tell them apart.... do you know anything about cars? 😂
no i dont mind its actually nice to have a comversation of sorts on the subject :D i am however not sure youre correct on the latter... the DSG hasnt been approved in america and the old passat B5 had a 6speed automatic (al least with the w8 engine in europe)
It took me so long to find out what this car was named. Someone at the high school drives a silver one but it has no badging besides the VW badge so I had little knowledge of this. I like the car though!
Sales numbers don't lie - and you obviously didn't read them. The car is selling very well for a 'flop'. I drove one today; (and I'm the biggest 5 series BMW freak there is); THIS car is VERY similar in performance to a 535i. Handling is exceptional. VERY intuitive like the BMW. $15/18K less. Also, this car is Front wheel drive. I put the V6 in sport and put my foot in the injectors. It did not behave like a fwd car (unexplained lane changes). I loved it.
ok i get your point. but stil what do you drive that has such stupendous handling that this isnt good enough for you? just a simple question as i got the 2009 cc with the VR6 engine and AWD and i have to say its on the level with my previous car (a 2008 BMW 535xd) and thats primarily a RWD chassis
and what features would those be? cus im a bit baffled by all of this since in general audi is about 20-30% more expensive than VW... and what engine have you got in your audi? because you can have the AWD in the 2,0l base model CC if you wish...
It’s been 8y now that I have my 2009 cc and up today, people with more recent car ask what car is this and look at it with admiration… Love my car😹😹😊😊😊😊😊
Interesting. Care to elaborate on "numb"? I would expect it drives like the German car it's supposed to be with a firm suspension, tight handling, and stiff, responsive steering.
actually the base comes with 17" ive checked. its wrong in the review... the base wheels for the 2.0l are 8 J x 17 235/45 R 17 Pheonix aluminum alloys and for the 3,6 l V6 the 8 J x 17 235/45 R 17 Spa aluminum alloys... both of the 18"s the Daytona and the Interlagos wheels are extra
any car made after 1975 requires a smog test, you keep the catalytic converter on and replace the muffler with a new one. catalytic converters don't make the car any quieter, its just a filter.
I understand. I went through the same thing with my '06 Kia Optima. I wanted a stick shift too. But it's only available on the base model. So that means no cruise control and no ABS, which I both really wanted. I found a steal of a deal on a stick shift Optima, so I went with it anyway.
Nobody can touch the VQ series motor, the DOHC V6 king! Don't even make me call out the AWD G37 Coupe, yeah, that's what I thought :-/ The Nissan Empire is top in performance among the Japanese 3, and that's coming from a Honda driver.
Shocking to hear it's so "numb" as you put it. Do you know if the CC has electric power steering? That would explain the numb steering feel. Definitely surprised to hear it has a floaty ride...from a German car? Well, I've never been too impressed with VW. The engineering is no longevity wonder and the prices are high.
I thought that when I bought my CC. But after owning it, I get why they didn't. Theres subtle things like when you unlock the doors at night, the tail lights fade on, starting on the sides of the car working in. Can't accomplish that with LED's.
found a few errors: the base CC comes w/ 17" rims. also, theyre comparing the price to a mercedes C class "$4 thousand less" when it should be compared to a CLS class which is arorund $3k more. Commentator's voice is pretty funny "steeeeeeeep onnnn down to the prrrice is rigggggght"
Actually, its a DSG with shift times slowed and slurred (chopped & screwed?) to replicate an automatic. VW doesn't even have a FWD 6-speed automatic. They're all DSGs in the US. I didn't realize I was replying to another of your posts nuc. You must think I'm an a** by now.
You guys are missing what I said. In my opinion, it's a flop because "it's all style over stubstance." I didn't mean it's a flop because it isn't selling. It looks good. Of course it's going to sell. Some of us just value a car that's actually functional, not just good looking. If it's REALLY functional, some will sacrifice style altogether. I like a balance. This car isn't balanced in this respect. That's what I meant by a "flop".
haha poor saps... in europe we get 300hp from the 3,6l V6 that does 0-60 in 5,6 s not 6,1 :D AND MORE IMPORTANTLY we get the 6 speed DSG (double clutch) transmission that shifts in 7 (seven) miliseconds... in contrast the ferrari 599 shifts in 80miliseconds (eighty not eight) you guys can only get the standard automatic transmission with the old stile torque-converter drivetrain
The announcer sounds like the guy that announces the prizes on The Price is Right. I'm just waiting for it to cut to a shot of Bob Barker asking the players to bid on it.
@MrEggwhites It has 4 doors so its a sedan damnit! I hate the illogical and invented names that are currently fashionable. VW should have named it the Passat LS and been done with it.
Even so, has more head and leg room than a Benz CLS. I test drove a 2006 CLS55 AMG, the CLS "top dog" and it was $99,000 before taxes. Compare that to this VW 3 years later at $39,000 the way I want it. That's *A LOT of spare change* I'd get to keep!
hehe dude your really into all this arent you :D well i like the styling from the front a lot more that the back :D but i guess thats a question of taste :D
dude you can get hte 4 motion all wheel drive that pushes 100% of the power to the rear when you accelarate hard... no diffrence whatsoever except this wont run you of the road like a ´67 cuda
While I'm sure VW has the engineering right (the normal Passat is excellent), the proportions on this are all off because of the FWD architecture. No thanks VW, you can keep this!
yeah i expected domething omong those lines. you obviousley seem to know what youre talking about but again i reply that its simply a matter of taste. sure its no z4 but its not supposed to be :D
This car is a flop and here's why. It's all style and no substance. The fuel economy sucks for a car this size. As far as 4-door family sedans go, it's impractical because it's cramped and only seats 4. It starts at $27k, the cheapest midsize sedan VW offers. It looks great and I'm sure drives nice. Maybe people shopping for a 3-series, C-class, or similar will consider this car. I like it over those choices. VW needs to get with the program though. They have a bizarre fleet of vehicles.
I bought a CC sport in November for about $25K and love it. At that price I'd say it blows it's competition away in looks and handling. I couldn't be happier.

I was very surprised by VW when I test drove this car and ultimately purchased a 2010 back then. I love the CC line
The car is a 2009 but seems like the video was made in 1989
Usa commercials as in movies
I kinda like the retro feel lol
Makes it even better ;)
The car is a 2009 but looks like 2019!
Lol
I wonder why these didn't sell better then they did, it's such a looker! The only VW I would own
I have the CC Sport (2.0L Turbo). At $27K, it goes nearly as fast as the V6 for nearly $15k more. It's a fabulous car and a real value.
just bought this car. when ever i drive in it i feel like a big time CEO driving around time lol
Still have it?
This guy's voice is epic
I love this car. Just bought a manual. Hope it treats me well even if it went straight to the shop for 3 weeks 🤷🏻
That’s a sign already. Rid off it before you spend more money on repairs than you bought it.
sold my bugatti veyron for this. jst lovin it!
Same here
Bought this car recently, it's amazing. Runs great, interior is amazing. Quick, easy handling, and so much fun to whip. I recommend it, only issue is that my seat memory does not work. I believe there is a fuse out, anyone else have this issue?
Hows the maintenance on it? Expensive repairs so far?
Still got it?
@Tyler, you are in a $$$$ in repairs and random lights. This particular year, with the 2010 and 2011 were terrible in reliability. Lots of electrical kinks and tire camber issues.

Buying tomorrow. So psyched.

@@Burninhellscrootoob he said c class, not cla. I agree the cla of the time looked like a cc tho cla barely released at the time.
You're 100% correct. Styling is completely subjective.
no i dont mind its actually nice to have a comversation of sorts on the subject :D i am however not sure youre correct on the latter... the DSG hasnt been approved in america and the old passat B5 had a 6speed automatic (al least with the w8 engine in europe)

Very beautiful and nice car

So how’d things play out? Given that your comment was made 15 years ago

@pjtart mine accommodates 5, you just have to order it without the console in the back seat
dude.... really... did you actually have a veyron?? AND you sold it for ONE of these? or 15?
It’s been 8y now that I have my 2009 cc and up today, people with more recent car ask what car is this and look at it with admiration… Love my car😹😹😊😊😊😊😊

@adamslurch71 Wrong. Catalytic converters appeared in US autos before 1976.
1975 they were introduced
actually the base comes with 17" ive checked. its wrong in the review... the base wheels for the 2.0l are 8 J x 17 235/45 R 17 Pheonix aluminum alloys and for the 3,6 l V6 the 8 J x 17 235/45 R 17 Spa aluminum alloys... both of the 18"s the Daytona and the Interlagos wheels are extra

Nice car
Saw one on the street for the first time, classy
Best review
Yes John Davis is still a great narrator for these road tests
This car is sexy. There's no other word for it, it's sexy.
is this because we didn't get the scirroco?
HUGE VALUE for this car
Nobody can touch the VQ series motor, the DOHC V6 king! Don't even make me call out the AWD G37 Coupe, yeah, that's what I thought :-/

i wish i have one! I love VW the are Unics and have lot of Class
u mean unique? i agree. l love mine
This thing should have led backlights like the passat
@MrEggwhites It has 4 doors so its a sedan damnit! I hate the illogical and invented names that are currently fashionable. VW should have named it the Passat LS and been done with it.
*i meant that the CLS is 30k more
@BMan100 EXACTLY! I dont want no gasoline motor!
Why VW dont use any more the VR6 name in their engines.
yeah thats what i thought when i first saw it
Comfort Coupe? It has 4 doors...lol fail at naming it but this car is sexy.
A decade later and the 4-door coupe concept is very popular
watch at 1:56 there talking about easy entry into rear seat and the guy hits his head lol

Easy man that was a little uncalled for
I agree the fuel economy is pretty bad.

yeah i expected domething omong those lines. you obviousley seem to know what youre talking about but again i reply that its simply a matter of taste. sure its no z4 but its not supposed to be :D

So a CLS is 31K? He said 4 grand less XD
Why scandinavian?
It is german!
Two words: BMW N54
@svsguru2000 Thanks for playing cultural bigot. In the States, that is the proper pronunciation.
Could they have picked an uglier color?
$40K for the AWD V6, shhhhhhaaa, right?!?! Infiniti dealer is open people, head that way!
only if it had a diesel and a 6spd.. then i'd break the bank and Buy one lol
well you could take it off illegally, but you have to pass smog tests every few years, so you would have to put it back on before smog
omg lmao that is exactly what i was thinking when they said the price lol infiniti rules!
its nice but i think this car would fit Females
Was it just me or the 2011 Hyundai Sonata is a shameless copy of this car?
psh fool scandinavian? deutschland baby
He pronounces Coupe wrong. That is annoying. It is coo-peh, not coop
svsguru2000 this is America. We say Z instead of Zed also
Agreed. A coop is for chickens.
lol troll
