AMAZING! Where I work we have 2 Polish ladies who have just started with us. Their English is not so good... BUT WAY BETTER THAN MY POLISH. Nobody really tries to talk to them, mostly as nobody here speaks Polish. So, I want to learn basic stuff fast. Your videos are perfect. "Hi" "How are you?" "Is everything OK?" "Do you need anything?" Great, and useful. I signed up to an online course but "gdzie jest stacja kolejowa" doesn't really help any of us, so please keep doing these TH-cams. Thanks Ewelina :)
Just recently I went to an appointment at the VA clinic in my local area which is Monterey California. The clinic is very new and services have improved greatly over the past few years. I was to do lab work and was advised to enter my ID card into the reader. Lots of people were having problems, so I asked an "older lady" employee for help, yeah right, I am 82 years old. Her accent sounded like she might be from Poland or a nearby country. Several people avoided her because they didn't understand her accent. So I thought what the heck, I am part polish so I carefully offered "How are you" in the polish, I learned from your site. You should have seen the shock on her face. I thought she was going to cry. Oh course that pretty much limited my Polish for the event. Even with the threat of the Virus she took my hand and squeezed hard and we shook hands . My wife reminded me, No Ken, remember no touching. I told her about my mother being Polish. She went back to her work station, and gave us a big smile when we went out. I think I made her day and she sure made mine. It's been a long time since I have watched your videos, but I still subscribe. Take care beautiful lady and stay healthy and well. PS My wife is from Peru and we often tease each other about our backgrounds. In the morning sometimes I will say "good morning beautiful Peruvian lady, and she responds with Morning Mr. Poloka or as close I can make it with the Spanish accent. bye again much love from California.
Thanks! Enjoyed you Poland blogs! Watching your lessons is helping me get my tongue for the language back! Polish was my first language, then English😄. Wished my mother continued speaking it to me. The school I attended back in the 60's discouraged it😫 Today in schools its OK
I love your lessons. Maybe you could explain your trip in California. What city are you in. Maybe you could visit historic places in Poland or California. Places in California that are photogenic and historically important: .Monterey Bay Aquarian .Old court house in Carmel . Point Lobos (where they filmed many Silent movies, “Like Foolish Wives” and “Rebeca” with Lawrence Olivia’.
i spent some time saying "Jak tam sprawy u ciebie?"but i don't think the average Polish person says that very much....but i now mostly say "Jak leci?", "Co słychać?" or "Jak sie masz". If you are only starting to learn Polish ( like me) then I think it is a good idea (Myślę, że to dobry pomysł) to pick one or two of these phrases to say hello - Don't learn more than that. spend your time learning other phrases rather than trying to remember ten ways to say "hello". Thank you EWELINA - dbaj o seibie.
I was always wondering why most of the time foreigners brake their tongue trying to say 'cześć' in Polish as they were taught it means 'hi' when they can just say 'hey' (in Polish spelling is 'hej') like in English as it's as common greeting as 'cześć'.
Went to Poland in 2016 for few weeks. Jak se masz. I would say lol. Co tam way easier. Poland was amazing! Nice and wonderful people. I'd like to go back
My old Dad used to joke, "Jac dem squeegee? Dobje broomstick!" To this day I have no idea what that was all about, but it always cracked him up. (He was Bohemian and married a Polish girl - my mom - in 1945) Sto lat Ewe!
i'VE SEEN SOME OF YOUR VIDS AND I FIND THEM VERY INTERESTING, I WOULD LIKE TO LEARN POLISH.....AT LEAST THE BASICS AND YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION. THANK YOU. I JUST SUBSCRIBED...
Do you know why I am interested to learn your language? Because I want to learn how to sing the "Te Deum Laudamus" in polish. I kept on listening to it over and over again until I got a headache. The words are almost all in consonants and the pronounciation is so difficult. So, I decided to start with the ABC in your language...and ended in your channel and scribbled some notes.
Yes. That's my Polish husband said that they are not saying "Jak się masz" & it's feel weird when they heard it from someone.. I don't know why there are some Polish lesson here in TH-cam that they are saying that.. Thanks Ewelina for the clarification. I love watching your videos and you're doing it so well very clearly. Oh I wish You will be my tutor 🤗
I also don't know why they use: "Jak się masz?". BUT we use formal version (with frequentative verb: MIEWAĆ), for speaking with eg. older colleagues (I use it even for teachers) that we know and have good relations with: Panie profesorze, JAK SIĘ pan MIEWA? 'How are you doing professor?' Pani Joasiu, jak się pani miewa? 'How are you Ms. Joasia? A jak się miewa pani brat? 'And how is your brother?'
I learnt 'jak się masz?' but listening to my partner she always says 'Co tam?' and I didn't know what it meant so I asked her.. Now I always just say 'Co tam?' and find it a lot easier to remember lol
Hi Ewalina…Txs for the all of ur videos… in this video u didn’t say replies for all the questions like “ Ian ok, I am fine, I am doing good/great, and etc., etc.,
I think a lot of people want to know the formal way of saying it. What is the point of giving us every possible way of saying it under the sun but not the formal way?

Polish people in Chicago say that. Yes it’s not Poland but the largest Polish population outside of Warsaw shouldn’t be ignored.
