Me too! I love butterscotch! It reminds me of my beautiful mother and grandma. I was the weird boy who stayed in the kitchen, watching and licking spoons.I was more interested in cooking than my dads stuff.hated working on the 🚘 car! Boring! Love ur show...
My very first butter scotch was given to me by a sweet lil ole lady in church. I was 6 and she was about 75 but she became my best friend at church. I made a b line for the butter scotch lady every Sunday!
I bring the whipped cream to the edge, otherwise that tough film will develop on the exposed part. I also stir 1 cup of butterscotch chips into the pudding, after it comes off of the heat, for more flavor.
I thought that's what she was going to do. I thought oh yeah if she stirs that butterscotch chips into that hot pudding that might give it more flavor!
Good morning Paula Dean ~ Butterscotch on my lips love you! I love butterscotch and will be making your butterscotch pie today! Have a beautiful day 🌞🥧❤
In my childhood home, my Mother made Sunday pie. (Butterscotch pie) It is to die for! Her recipe is almost like yours except she BURNS 2 Tbs white sugar. Then adds a small amount of water. Add this to the pudding. You will be surprised how much better that makes it! If you try it, be sure to let me know.
My hubbies fVorite.. he's lost 60 pounds and so proud but boy would I love to make this for him today but gonna wait till next cheet day. Next month.... thank you for the recipe.
Was it teflon or just some metal? Either way... She would have been better off mixing things in a DEEP bowl in advance! Quicker...less chance to spill out, and even cook the filling in a 4-6" deep pan where she could have mixed things up much better.
Not only watching, but hearing the scraping sound. Sounds as bad as Rosanne Barr squawking away, maybe worse. Someone should tell her that Teflon is not meant for human consumption and they make plastic whisks as well as bamboo. She says to remove it from the heat before adding the vanilla, then ads it to the bubbling mess while still on the burner and turns off the heat after she adds it. She can't even spread the topping out evenly.
Seeing that delicious butterscotch pudding in the pan i imagined how good that would be in crème puffs, looked like the same kind,wo the eggs i believe!!
Hey Troy as a matter-of-fact one time I made banana pudding with Jell-O instant butterscotch pudding. But I also added some Cool Whip to it and made it butterscotch fluffy and then layered the bananas and vanilla wafers OMG you talked about so Heavenly delicious try it and let me know if you like it! If you need the recipe I can get that to you just let me know
This was always one of my favorite pies that my grandmother would make. I'd like to try this one and I think I would rather melt those butterscotch chips right into the pudding as I personally would like them melted.
Hi Paula , when I was a kid my mother made this pie all the time and it was amazing. I have never made one in my life. I’m so happy I caught you making this lol because I have the recipe now and after 60 years since I’ve had one I’m thrilled to death . Thank you so much ,love your Best Dishes recipes . Brings back lots of memories .
Never had a butterscotch pie, or butterscotch anything! Looks delish! I thought you were going to put the butterscotch morsels in the pudding and was surprised when you put them in the whipped cream.
Why not just put the cooled liquid butterscotch filling straight onto the pie crust and into the refrigerator and chill it once...? Seems it would settle and adhere better to the crust and omits a step.
Hello Paula.. This pie looks amazing. I'll definitely make this.. My Sweet Daddy will love it !! We always watched your cooking show.. You said you was afraid your pie would Flop ! No way Paula !! Your The Best Beautiful.. I just Adore and Love you and your Boys.. and Eddie and the crew.. I'd love to meet you someday. Its a dream of mine to be in the kitchen with you while you cook..Take Care and Much Love From your # 1 Indiana Fan. Xoxo 💜😍😘
Well hello Darlene, I'm a number one fan from Indiana to and you said every word that I have been wanting to say and was going to write to Paula and say! You know the old saying you took the words right out of my mouth. You never know one of these days you and I and Paula maybe in a kitchen together cooking, or baking some pies. Now that wouldn't be a dream come true!
It's been at least five years since I made or ate butterscotch pie, but after watching this video, for certain it will not be another five years! I just need to make a quick trip to the grocery store for the ingredients. Thanks, Paula.
I think Teresa is looking good for someone who works with Paula Deen and has to live with the daily Aromas in the kitchen. I know I get gain a pound just watching the show..❤to all.
I’m very particular about having my hands and fingers clean. I too like to lick but I have to wash my hands again before touching anything. Just the way I am🤷🏾♀️.
@@pattibreen9154 yes, it is. It is not proper hygiene for cooking when serving other people even if it is your family at home. That's how germs spread.
My mom tried the thing where you put the plastic wrap over the custard so it wouldn't form a skin, it still formed the skin, so that doesn't work, at least it didn't for her.
Did she make contact with the custard? It's practically foolproof unless she let it cool long enough before putting the cling wrap on it so that skin had already begun to form. She should probably give it another go. Personally, I just don't bother. I just pour it into an airtight container then when you dish it out just mix it so it reabsorbs some liquid. It'll stiffen in the pie crust anyway.
Yeah, you have to push the plastic down on top of the pudding so it makes full contact. We generally don't do this becausd the pie doesn't end up lasting long enough to end up in the fridge.
Yes, Theresa reminded Paula to tell us viewers to use a pie crust that you have already pricked and baked, because once the butterscotch custard is poured into the pie crust, there is no more cooking at all.

That’s her son’s guest house. She sold her big house and they are remodeling her house she used to live in. She has a whole video about it here. It’s really fun to watch!
So you just going to lick your fingers and touch the morsels and everything on else on the pie? I guess since its just for family, its still not proper hygiene for cooking, but she did a horrible job on that pie.
How many of y'all just LOVE butterscotch?

That looks sweet. I wish you would share some diabetic receipts for all of us out here.
You can substitute 3/4 cup of swerve brown sugar substitute for Brown sugar. It doesn't effect my blood sugar at all.
Hey Paula I have a butterscotch cheesecake recipe, would you like the recipe for your show?
Good morning Paula,

Oh I can taste this pie already. My favorite pie since I was a little girl!!!
I’m going to bet that butterscotch pie would be good in the summer time served very chilled or perhaps frozen..
I have not had butterscotch pie since I was a kid! I love butterscotch pie.
Looks so yummy❣️I love butterscotch anything. I especially love Paula’s laugh❤️
