Another Great video, Lars! Love the trace feature to create the chamfer! I'm going to try that as soon as I get a chance.

    Hi Lars,
You can create a joint to the Origin, no need for a sketch first. Grounding a component often doesn't seem to work for me, so I usually create a rigid joint to the origin instead.
Your scallop toolpath was using the centre of the ball endmill, which would result in practically zero surface speed and a poor finish. Even selecting 'contact point boundry' wouldn't help much due to the very shallow angle. A job for a bull nose or corner radius endmill.

You can drill the corners first with a drill.

Why not lathe the first operation (as it is in a lathe chuck)? As it would be super fast with a cnc lathe. Or a 5 axis cnc so you could do all in one machine.
Maybe this is a bit over the top for this though, I am thinking about it from a production line point of view.

Hi pixl3l Thank you for watching!
You are totally right! Yes, if those machines are available, I would for sure use them :-)
      Best,
      Lars

39:45 If you made this copy, you can not generate the tool path. So if you change the feed and speed you must generate it and then it will use the wrong surface. So you must copy it again...?

    • @cadcamstuff
      @cadcamstuff  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Captain DJ Thank you for watching! Well yes, but if I change the feeds and speeds I most likely want it on both operations as they are the same toolpath, right? Just drag a new copy down.
      Best,
      Lars

22:40 what's about the tool "Ausrichten" in German? If I have an angel 4.123445678.... I was not able to set it perfect. Sometimes I have numbers like 4.234567+e10 or something?

Thanks Lars, This was very helpful. I just had a request for machining a gear and I said "no" I was not set up for it but after watching this video, it is worth looking at for a future project. Happy New Year! I look forward to learning more from you in 2018!

Aloha from Hawaii Lars ! And Merry Christmas! I need your help. How do I make a STP file of a product I want to design ? What program do I need to simply create STP files of animals, dolls, etc and send the STP files format to my manufacturer so he can make a 3D model of my product ? If you think it would be hard for me to use a program myself (I do have a little knowledge), what are my other options? Can I hire someone to create these STP files for me? Thank you soooo much!

Giselle Fionda You can export as a STP or STEP file in Fusion 360

Hi Giselle Fionda Thank you for watching! Merry Christmas to you!! As the Captain said, you can save your Fusion design as a step, no problem. If you are looking to have someone help you with the details of actual designing the part. I think the Fusion 360 forum is a great place to look for help

      Thank you, guys !
My designs are fairly simple. I found the shape I wanted for a small dog online but couldn’t import to Tinkercad. ;-( I will try the program you suggested. Thank you again !

So whats the status on Wire EDM integration in fusion360 cam. As you mentioned its quite common to use in such situations.
