She comes out of her "alternative electronica singer-songwriter" universe with lyrics, not about herself but instead is inspired about what she finds important. But she also does rearrange her music for "classical orchestration" (as in Nidarosdomen-concert where she arranged her music for the Norwegian national cathedral, with strings, male choir, harp and church organ (plus her band). She also has some sensational "unplugged" sessions with her music that is produced in the alternative electron genre on her albums. Imagine taking a dose of Joni Mitchel, add some Leonard Choen and a good portion of Bjørk. Mix in Norwegian traditional folk music with a bit of drum and bass. Mix well - and add a composer who is mostly inspired by empty landscapes of the Norwegian West Coast who has a HUGE heart for the condition of humans and the planet we live on. See, it is really hard to describe her. She has been a professional musician since she was 16 even though she never aspired to be on stage or to be famous. She hated her first 200 concerts. She writes and produces (with her people) her own music. She is involved in scripting her hugely artistic music videos. Now you have heard here in "cathedral form" (and this entire concert is impossible - 21-year-old pop singer-songwriters should not be even thinking about making that happen) As a young teenager, she performed in front of ca 20,000 people in the Nobel Pease Prize Concert (broadcasted to some hundreds of millions of potential viewers - Singing "Murder Song, 5,4,3,2,1" supported only by her guitarist. When it comes to stage presence and ability to convey - that can be a good place to start. Since you found "It happened quiet" being mesmerizing, try to think about anything else while she delivers Murder Song at the Nobel. She is excellent for reactors. There are massive amounts of high-quality professional live recordings on youtube. And she seems to have made her record company live with reactors who use said content with a minimum of "IP awareness". You have this (Nidaros) concert, the KEXP concerts (more high energy, the HAIK concert (in her childhood forest). But you can also check out her music videos. Like "Running with the wolves" (one of her early hits). You also should check out "Aurora covers ..." Her version of Bowie's "Life on Mars" is sublime. As is her cover of Massive Attack's "Teardrops". Just to mention two. Did I mention that she is hysterically funny (despite her often existential lyrics?). Oh. Her artist persona often plays with herself being a tiny little girl in interviews. When one sees her in long-format interviews, we get to see an artist with a vision. That basically always have declared that her next album is already mostly finished when she drops a new album. Because of a very long term artistic vision. She is something else. Clearly not for all, but surely for more than know about her (basically because radio stations do not like to play her - her songs have content that may be considered "deep" or "sad" or "upsetting" or "controversial" or "political" etc. As we know, radio stations work really hard to avoid making listeners feel anything. So she is flying under a lot of radars. Having seen a few of your videos, I feel pretty confident that you will like this alternative universe of Aurora. It is good to be aware of these birds that sing their own tunes and dance as if nobody is watching.
I can only add that her style...is emotional. As emotions do, that takes on several flavors. You have the tear jerking ballads, up tempo tribal almost chants, synth driven bops. Dramatic anthems. The common thread is they all have a story and emotion to tell and experience...as you don't just listen to Aurora you experience her.
This is about violence, possibly rape in a relationship. This whole concert is a masterpiece. Then there is the magical HAIK concert 2019 staged and filmed in the forest where Aurora played in her childhood. Aurora is very versatile, she writes songs about very important issues (depression, male suicide rates, difficult relationships, the environment) but also more recently some love songs and she has done amazing covers of other artist's songs (as diverse as Nat King Cole, The Beatles, David Bowie and Oasis). The Aurora journey is a mesmerizing adventure not to be missed.
She has variety of styles.. Aurora live at KEXP 2018 is more rock and energetic, Aurora live at Nidarosdomen is more classical and and haunting, Aurora live at HAIK is magical and fairy type of performance.. She also have upbeat songs, reacting to Aurora is more on a journey man.. 🔥🔥🤘🤘
I call her a fairy princess angel and she is like no other singer you will ever see or hear!!! Try through the eyes of a child or black water lilies!!!
Every single time when she sing the "dont you speak over my voice" its always make me got goosebumps, really really good, And thank you for your reaction videos, please do more thank you
Some violent incident is recalled happening quiet. And later there is anger and the threat of revenge for what happened. Hope you will react to more from Aurora.
Yea. She is always mesmerizing, She always is very "in" a performance and she is able to pass emotions to listeners. Also she is very interesting person and has always important message in lyrics (but often lyric is not so easy to understand at first). She has many great songs I would suggest for future one of these: 1) All Is Soft Inside live from KEXP 2018 2) Lucky from Nidarosdomen 3) Runaway from Nobel Prize Concert (or official video) But whatever you will choose (from the list or outside it) you can go wrong with Aurora music :). Thx for a nice reaction :).
Love can be wild in a fun way, but in this case, love is wild in a bad way- violence. She is taking both the man’s part (don’t speak over my voice or I will return from the shadows) and the battered female part…colored red… I fall like a flower in the meadow. Check out her performance of Runaway and Murder song from the Nobel Peace Prize concert in 2015.
In may this year I watched the KEXP mini concert from Iceland. After that I hardly dont listen to anything else than Aurora. And btw. All NRK recordings are free as far as I know
Something Aurora does well is sing songs from concert to concert with changes in how it is performed, often depending on where she is performing, be it a studio, small room to large room or outside. And the range of her songs. Welcome to your path of enlightenment as you enter the Queendom of Aurora.
Aurora started playing music and writing songs (in Norwegian) when she was 6, and then in English when she was 9 (now she is 25). She is a singer, songwriter, composer and producer. Her live performances are extraordinary. She is what you call a true empath, very close to nature and down to earth, highly talented and highly intelligent, always positive and funny. She really does talk to their fans, whom she calls warriors and wierdos. She is an absolute free spirit. Aurora's movements are partly not rehearsed in her concerts. She is introverted and she shows her feelings through involuntary body movements. She hates backtracks and, that's why she has a backround singer. Everything about her and her music is real. You get what you see, whether on stage or elsewhere. Billie Eilish, she started her career because of Aurora. Her song "Runaway" was the trigger Short version of the content of this song. Boyfriend kills girlfriend out of an argument or rape. There are various interpetations. She either comes back as a ghost and chases him or his guilty conscience follows this act and he never finds peace again. It happened quiet. She didn't see it coming, she didn't expect it.
My suggestion for the next are Through the eyes of a child from the same concert. And it would be fun to hear your reaction to Aurora's cover of Across the universe (Beatles) from Like a version th-cam.com/video/Zb4sIiGLXvc/w-d-xo.html
Try not to cry challenge? 🥲🙂 The Avett Brothers - Ballad of Love and Hate (live) Tool - Wings for Marie pt.1 & pt.2 Aurora - Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1 (live at the Nobel peace prize concert) Band of Horses - No one’s gonna love you Iron & Wine - The Trapeze Swinger Chris Cornel - Nothing Compares to you Bright Eyes - First Day of My Life This Mortal Coil - Song to the Siren 🤖
A relationship that has gone bad. Been suggested a rape and murder and her coming back for revenge. Aurora has different styles and does her own thing. Her fans are known as Warriors and Weirdos.
The song is about a woman killed by her lover, so yes, it's sad. As good as it is, this is not my favorite Aurora performance. I like her raw live performances with her band the most because of how she lets the song overtake her, and her music videos are all mesmerizing. She's definitely an artist to watch.
I absolutely love this song, but it is not one i would recommend for a first listen. She has such a broad genre of music, pop, a Capella, acoustic, electronic, synth you name it. She can't be put in a box, which is almost ironic considering she has a song called "In Boxes" Aurora will usually perform a single song 5 different ways in 5 different concerts vs the studio version which is usually more electronic. Her vocals are great, and the lyrics are wonderful, but they usually need a few listens to get as there are so many layers to her music. She always has something that inspires her to write a song, but will usually write it in a matter that allows people to pull their own interpretation from them. But know she is not afraid to put her opinion in her music. Equality, environmentalism are topics that often come up. But also being true to your self etc. So if you feel politics or opinions should be left outside of music, she might not always fit your opinion, because she is NOT afraid to share her's.
I love, it happened quiet "live at the current" with acoustic guitar😘💕
Yes my favorite to ❤
Nidarosdomen: nailed it 👏🇧🇻
Welcome to a better world.... The world with Aurora's music in it 😀

My god this was well written and I support all that you said :-)
That about sums it up. Lol.

Just do the entire concert. You won't regret a second.

Do yourself a favor a walk down the Aurora lane. So much epic stuff. Murder Song live at the 2015 Nobel Concert is among them.
Every single time when she sing the "dont you speak over my voice" its always make me got goosebumps, really really good,

Welcome to the Universe of Aurora. You are in for a ride.
I think the song is about an abusive relationship

The only music of hers that I recommend listening to the studio version is "Exist for Love". All the rest search for live versions!
This was a bit different, but very, very good. She's got a pretty unique voice!
My suggestion for the next are Through the eyes of a child from the same concert.

@@SJOrr Thanks for the vid, looking forward to see if you do any more songs of hers :)
Great reaction!
