Almost every one of your issues could have been resolved with the help of a professional skylight installer. A Velux installer and Velux Skylights that open with the push of a button would have brought fresh air into your kitchen and allowed the stale moist air to escape. they come standard with bug screens. The Velux have a self cleaning type of glass in them on the outside. They have high performance glass to block the heat from coming in during the summer and from escaping during the winter. My favorite Velux is the Solar powered fresh air skylight, no wires and remote control operated. Mine came with a pleated shade in it so I can control the light. I even got a 30% Federal Tax Credit on my entire installation cost. 💰💰
Brilliant question thanks. We really didn't want one to break the eyeline to the garden. You can get cooker hobs with a suction fan built in, but we didn't want that either. So we went with nothing! Apparently it's building code to have one, so we had to have a small extractor fan in the wall (to the garden) which we turn on when needed. We have zero regrets about this - all the rangehoods we see in people's homes are just grease traps. We also don't do any deep frying... Well spotted and hope this helps!
Wonderful! But pleaaase-please-please wear some eye protection and a particulate respirator when cleaning mould, especially black mould. Spores could easily get in your lungs while scrubbing and cause a host of issues. Please be well, sir.🙏🏽
