Video Concept:
In today's video, I present to you a new dweller. This mod was created by @pixelcoder . I refer to it as the 'Fog Dweller' because it would perfectly blend in a foggy setting, not to mention that the dweller disappears randomly. This dweller is related to other dwellers such as the Cave Dweller, the Night Dweller/Man From The Fog, and the Midnight Dweller/Lurker.

The reason this dweller is scarier than the others is because when it spawns in, it doesnt make you aware of its presence. Theres no creepy sound when it spawns in like the night dweller, and theres no sounds alerting you to its presence. When it spawns in it just stands there silently waiting for you to look at it randomly. Best dweller for sure
Agreed, but here the evolved dweller screaming out of no where and chasing you scares the hell out of me more personally 😭
This one is still terrifying as hell too
But like, ambience or sounds is like 70% of every horror creature imo. For example the minecraft cave noise, when you played minecraft for the first time and you hear that sound you are expecting something to stalk you or something, but it doesnt and THAT makes you scared.
But its only my opinion, no hate pls :)

@@MechaEnthusiast I mean yeah it is quite better sometimes when there is no sound and something attacks you out of nowhere, but in a game like minecraft imo sound is quite important to scare or atleast spook someone.

I was terrified at first, but upon learning that he can simply teleport in front of you, all of his fear factor dropped in an instant and he became an annoyance more than anything else.
It is scary because you can’t tell if the monster is gone or invisible
it's not teleportation, it's invisibility, and running into him also triggers his visibility.

Is not teleportation, I'se seen the development of the mod. He is ALWAYS there. He doesn't just simply despawn, he is invisible. In the video you can hear footsteps before he turns visible and kills him.
I think you should try to ad some kinda smoke particle affect to it spawning to give it more of a "This is intentional teleportation." instead of just appearing and disappearing.

I think it’s scarier for it to just appear and disappear like that. Because add effect would it make more obvious he’s appearing.

This guy is genuinely scary, you just can't know WHEN or HOW he appears and when it STRIKES it's just unexpected and you cannot overcome it, also this mod need tweaks like him breaking glass or doors to get in, climb, and adjust to the height to get in, that would make him a lot scarier by the means of the chase.

I was talking to my friend who planned on making a dinosaur-horror mod for minecraft, and he got on to the discussion of the Dilophosaurus.
Nocturnal, massive and larger than you’d expect in person. A stealthy predator. The elements he wanted this thing to capture are rather vivid. Nothing to alert you of it’s presence, you have to watch out for its piercing glowing eyes hiding within the brush, as it stalks you. With enough time given, it will be far too late. You could fight back, but it’s got nauseating and hallucination inducing venom and attacks that ignore armor. The worst part? They hunt in silent packs.
But one oddly specific detail he mentioned was their interaction with security cameras. If they get caught on camera, all ambiance and music will halt and they will stare right back at you. The moment you put the camera down, they immediately know your location, and begin to pursue you.
I think this guy would be a better night dweller than the current night dweller if it lives up to his name. 10/10 would let bro cook again.

It’s as if it’s always following you but walks very slow, so every time you stop doesn’t matter how far you left it behind, it’s gonna get closer and closer, the only way to survive is if you never stop walking or running

I get the idea but it's still just a mob that either attacks or flees.
It'd be nice to see it have other patterns, like waiting for the player to go to bed to look at them from a certain distance or show up and stare at the player's pets or base instead of the player.
Or it specifically waits for the player to find diamonds, and when they do it makes itself known and charges with a change of attacking or dissapearing when the player turns away from it to run.
Heck, obsidian takes a long time to mine for example, why not take advantage of that long moment of vulnerability to spawn behind the player making breathing or gasping noises without actually hurting them and then dissapear the moment the player turns around

Its a cool idea ngl, but it needs an expert to code the behavior, since it's too hard and will take time.
The fact that at 4:31 you can see the guy just staring at a tree and then realizing "oh hes right next to me, well sh*t here we go again" is just gold.
They need to make his animations fluid and creepy for running as well as give him a swimming animation, and also make him automatically look at the player when he spawns. Because as it stands, he's definitely scary, but the fact that he looks like a plastic toy when running breaks the immersion a bit
Out of all the Dwellers this is the ONLY one that genuinely scared me. I cried after the first jumpscare dude. I can't emphasize how terrifying it is with words

Out of most dweller mods I have played this one doesn't allow me to have the courage to go outside my Base/Home at night it has made me more cautious to surviving especially on a Hardcore World because bro is almost always breathing down my neck. I can't see him but he definitely can see me. Also i am working on a Mod-Pack and this fella will fit right in.

I definitely think one thing that would make this mod way more terrifying is if at random points, footsteps play (the sound depends on what environment you are in). These footsteps do not indicate that the creature is coming, it just serves the point of discomforting the player. Personally, I find things most terrifying when an atmosphere is set, which is why I hate minecraft caves so much, they give that atmosphere and have low level threats (most of the time) and are STILL terrifying. Atmosphere is everything, and making the player feel like an unwanted company is constantly following them is one way to wet someones pants.
Small facts to possibly help:
1 a warning is footsteps. If you hear them, it is near.
2 if you see it, it either fully despawns, or moves/goes invisible. If it goes invisible or moves, that means you may run into it again, close by. I would not recommend running where he disappeared because it is 50/50 it is still there
And 3 as the footsteps, whispers are also an indication of it. Just not as close.

The original cave dweller was made to be a combination of both a baby zombie and an enderman this one seems a lot more enderman like.
I feel like the mob needs a little more animation or like not killing you fast enough just like chasing you

That was such an awesome seed! A dark oak biome with hollow lush cave hills, a deep dark and a huge mine shaft! That would be awesome for survival!!
This mod is well done but I just kinda find it goofy how the monster spawns behind you, I think it should be facing directly towards you. It would definitely become scarier

I love your storytelling and video progression... the little clips where you don't talk and are just doing an action, normally people only turn on the camera when something interesting comes along, but those little moments of normality set me up expecting something bad to happen, then when I least expect it, WHAM
My problem with random and literally just being able to spawn right in your face is that it can quickly just become obnoxious
You should really make this a series I enjoy the thrill.
I wonder how hard/scary a modpack that has like every dweller in it would be? Like the fog dweller acting as a constant threat, the night dweller showing up at night/in caves (making dealing with other dwellers more difficult in case you accidentally look at him), the goat man constantly harassing you and keeping you on edge with its voice lines and daytime activity…

Out of all the dwellers THIS scares the living hell out of me it’s just so creepy that you take predict it’s movements you just don’t know when it attacks and appears but it’s a pretty fun challenge I see might not be for different people but this does need some things into it that’s all

i wish there were just a tiny few more tweaks...
the jumpscare you get when it chases you should be a lot more apparent, and just randomly it'll stop chasing only to have a huge chance to re-start the chase again, making it seem like you got away only for you to be wrong
and if there is a certain amount of damage done to the dweller, it'll rotate the day to night, turn it all red, make the screen a lot darker and more intense, and the dweller would be a lot faster and deal more damage
it'll still be ever so slightly slower than the player, but is fast enough to make you feel hopeless.
this would make the fog dweller into an actual force of nature, something you shouldn't mess with, and something you should definitely run away from.
right now, he seems a bit slow, and sound effects aren't scary enough (i'm not saying it should be loud, it should just be a lot more uncanny and unsettling. i like creepy better than scary, but when it comes to scary, it needs to play the part at an extreme level)
having the perfect mix of creepy and scary makes you a perfect entity.
anyways i really liked what the mod creator did, kudos to him! this is just my opinion in hopes he'd see it

You need to Add this dweler to the maze game. It would be a game changer. You can atleast expect the other dwelers to be hiding around corners and stuff while this thing spawns next to you out of nowhere. It would be terrifying
Yeah, yeah that things scary, but that lush cave gen tho I want that.
Also this dweller fails to capture one thing that the other dwellers do: their life. While this one is more unpredictable, it lacks the feeling of intelligence that many of the others create.
And as someone who plays video games: there is nothing more nerve wracking than being hunted by something as intelligent as the player.
That lush cave makes me want the world seed

Even though I love that the minecraft community is cooking up some good stuff. I hope that the horror part of minecraft mods revolves around the dweller theme. That or some other mods pop off as well. Just feel like there should be more than dweller or herobrine mods that get made. Don't get me wrong, this mod is scary bc its different that the others, there isn't a "cave sound" if you will.

Better info on the fog dweller here: he doesn't just... appear behind you in an instant, if you're far enough away he won't be able to reach you, he has slowness so he doesn't move untill the slowness runs out, and after it does, he'll either go invisible and move towards you, or despawn, he moves till the invisibility runs out....and if he's in range.... he'll attack

A series would be cool
There should be a dweller that basically listens to your microphone, and if you need diamonds or iron or something, it will disguise as that thing you need, and when you go over to mine it, it jumps out at you and starts chasing you. But it doesn’t only do that, if you hide somewhere from seeing it, it uses your microphone to know where you are. It can also just see you, it would be like a fog dweller but more terrifying. It would definitely feel like A Quiet Place for sure, but it would be great I think. It would also have horrifying noises that plays in caves and at night, sometimes alerting that it’s there, but most of the time it’s not. Sleeping doesn’t speed up the night as fast as it normally does, giving you more suspense whether or not it will spawn in. The mod would add foggy days, nights and caves will always be foggy, and all mobs with look, sound, and act slightly more realistic, not to the point to where you expect something lifelike, but still more realistic. This dweller would also look at your friends or if you’re in multiplayer, it would disguise as other people or your friends to trick you into coming closer, but when you do, it’s too late. That would be wild and most likely not possible, but very scary.
This would be a cool scary series

unsure if i misunderstood the beginning explenation, but he cannot teleport, what happens is he has slowness that makes his unable to move when visible, but when invisible he loses it, he also walks pretty quickly.
imagine playing a modpack of all the dwellers, and add from the fog for good measure

You should try and maybe make custom birch tree and make a dweller that pretends to be a tree and attacks you if you get too close

I think it would be really creepy if you made it appear in the corner of your screen, that way you think, "oh, was that it or not?"

the problem is that it can toggle the invisibility while you're looking at it, which is a pretty big issue. it's pretty silly how you can be staring at it, with it staring back, and then it just disappears out of nowhere. other than that, it's pretty cool

You should add a floor crawler lol. It’s can go through one block holes, climb walls likes spiders. If possible make stick on ceiling to make it look scarier. Rather than running, it crawls on the ground very fast.
