Hi Tom you could almost boil 2 kettles with that smaller stove. I own the GSI stainless kettle with same bowl and spork good product. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Tom, great review and good comparison. Your stoves burning excellent and they have a very nice flame pattern. Thanks for the great video, my friend. All the best to you and your wife. Greetings Tito
Hehe!! It would be fun for sure! Have you seen there web site they have a few kettles to choose from... you may want to give a look.. Now I'm wondering what you bought for this season?? Take care my friend! Credit sucks!! IHOP..:)
i have been using the trangia kettle for about 12 years now, would never part with it it lives happily in my zebra lunch box. loving the squishy bowls and great little stoves
I have been using the GSI Ketalist for about 3 years now, not saying I've tested it through and through but, that haluite coating is pretty damn impressive, takes a lot of scrubbing with a SOS pad to get the soot from the campfire off and it doesn't even begin to touch the coating, replaced the spork with a GSI Kungfoon Ti and usually use a home made alcohol stove with a home made wood gas stove, in 25 years of back country backpacking it is definitely my favorite setup to date.
I would agree. GSI has a winner with that coating. I have a few GSI cook kits and Im very impressed with there durability. Thanks for watching and the comment
Hey bro, The Trangia is very sturdy. I was very surprised when I got it.For the very few dollars they cost it was worth it for me... and now I have 3 Kettles :) As for the stoves they work great but need primed or the cold weather kit that comes with the trangia. (in my last vid) the fuel is finicky until it warms up. I keep mine in my pocket for awhile before I light it. Thanks for watching!
Tom, I'm shopping again. If both kettles got destroyed, which one you you replace? Which one is more sturdy (will take the pack abuse better)? That Trangia sure responed well (boiled quick) to the mini bottle stove...
Hey Jim, I was so pleased with the GSI that I bought 2. Although I like the trangia it has more limitation's I think. The hard anodizing make the GSI kit stronger IMHO. I think the trangia has a spot in my pack on certain trips. The GSI gets my vote as a stand alone kit. Thanks for the comment Jim!
Nice comparison but it certainly looks like the GSI had well over 2 cups of water in it. The big take away for me was the use of the squishy bowls in the Trangia kettle. I have both kettles and like them a lot but it's tough to put a windscreen on them that will also store inside the kettles.
'mornin, Tom; Thank You For The Review,Great Kit Set-up. Either 1 Is A Winner 4-Sure. We Have The GSI S/SGlacier & John's Cook Stove,Don't Leave The House With-out Them Look Forward To The Next Vid,Thanks For Taking The Time To Up-Load & Post&Share. Happy Trails From The Maritimes In Canada
Man, I've been fighting the urge for years to pick up a kettle! This didn't help! They both look great ;-) The trangia looks better for me for pack size but is it as hardy as the GSI? I have the GSI soloist and its bomb proof, trangia looks a little less sturdy. Another question how do those stove work in freezing temps? I usually use a stove vs fire in winter. Great comparison!! ATB
I think you had 4cups of water in the gsi pot. Two should boil much faster, I have that pot and 2 fills it half as high. Check and see. Thanks for the video, both cool pots and stoves. Ted.
Hey Ted, It did look a little full so I just rechecked and turns out I had 3 cups in the GSI. Its understandable that it took longer to boil. 4 cups puts water half way up the spout on mine and I wouldn't want water boiling over. Thanks for spotting that & Thanks for watching
+Doug Ramsey I got mine from REI years ago. I'm not sure if they still carry them! But here is a link www.amazon.com/Guyot-Designs-Squishy-Bowl-Cup/dp/B002YMHCXK
Really eh...haha! ;o) Thanks bro! Wouldn't it be nice to spam them in the side of the head? ;o) I still have a GSI but the original not the Kettlist. I just may get that Trangia for sure but have to put the credit card away for a bit...haha! Just bought more stuff for winter :o) Your comparison was all I need bro :o)
you should watch the beginning of the video before commenting! There is no comparison rather a showing the differences between theses two kettles . Thus the title a side by side showing ...NOT a comparison!
Both nice kits. I love my trangia kettle, I've had it over 45 years.
Thanks for watching!
Ya that little stoves works awesome! Thanks for watching Marc!

Thanks for watching! I measured the cups of water off camera but I hope you experiment on you own to make any decision !

Trangia still makes them and both Primus and Optimus make theirs under licence from Trangia (all are Swedish companies).
GIS looks nice and solid!
☆☆☆☆☆ After owning 3 of the GSI kettles I'm really likin' the Trangia kettle. Thanks for the comparison vid bro :o)
GSI looks nice and solid!
the GSI is nice.....had mine for years.

where did you get the blue squishy bowls?
+Doug Ramsey I got mine from REI years ago. I'm not sure if they still carry them! But here is a link www.amazon.com/Guyot-Designs-Squishy-Bowl-Cup/dp/B002YMHCXK

The Gsi kettle should be compared with compable 25 series kettle not 27

Credit card gets payed in full every month bro :o) I've been debt free for years :D I'll have a looksy!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇸🇦😘
Why do you not compare the larger trangia kettle? Your comparison is pointless.
You could have watched The first 20 seconds it tells you the point of the vid and its not a comparison by any means.
Haha. I didn't have the audio turned up at that point. You are correct. Thanks.
