- I've heard so much about this band, and so many people asking me to have a look into them. I gotta say, I really am intrigued by them!! Like a mix of some of my favorite punk and metal styles all rolled into one! This is definitley gonna need further investigation!

This is one of the best song ever about school bullying - Ryo (guitar and vocals, "little" brother of drummer Nao) experienced it because of his weight, and this is all about his dreams of revenge at first, before growing up and starting to feel at peace with his past. It's a very cathartic song for him and his sister.
Maximum The Hormone are the absolute masters of mixing different styles and speeds. In other songs, different genres are also mixed together. If you want to listen to another song by them that is a little thematically related to this one, check out the music video for "Let's Talk About Menkata Cottelee". While this song was about the school bullying the guitarist experienced because of his weight, the next is about his weight loss for health reasons and the reactions of some fans who wanted their fatter, cuddly Ryo back.
And while we're on the topic of second reactions to a band. How about a second reaction to Hanabie, MTH's "foster children"? The song L.C.G would be a good choice here because you can hear the MTH influences very strongly there.
Oh, and it's HanabiE, not HanabiA. That's why I said to the troll that he's wrong. The E at the end is pronounced like the E in Error.
To be completely honest...I did record a reaction to "We Love Sweets" with my 8 year old son...he REALLY likes them, sadly, a technical error means there was no audio at all recorded, so it's just a memory for him and I
@@Reactingtothespectrum It's a shame about the technical error, but it's great that your son liked Hanabie, he seems to have a good taste in music. How did you like We Love Sweets? The song is the same as what you mentioned here. Lots of changes, but without repeating themselves.
This may have been mentioned before but Hanabie started out in high school as a Maximum The Hormone cover band.
Such a great band. By the way, it never gets boring with them. There are few, if any, bands that can compete with the variety of MtH.
One of the best bands ever. I love it when music isn't so simple, but has lots of changes in tempo and style. Many other MTH songs will also make you laugh, this one deals with a more serious topic, so there was no room for their usual humor.
My heart lifts whenever someone new discovers MtH, and can appreciate their work. Nao the drummer is one of the coolest Mom's in rock. Ryo on lead is her brother, and the song is largely about his experience at school including bullying. His manga was one of his outlets. They have a large and very loyal following in Japan, though their new music is scarce and infrequent these days. While I am a big fan of the other bands you are discovering, MtH have a special place, and I still count their live performance as the best concert that I've had the pleasure to attend.
Maximum The Hormone are simply brilliant. Many of their songs even have far more crazy changes than this song. The song that you can find under "Maximum The Hormone II" (Let's Talk About Menkata Cottelee) would be good next.
Your intuition is spot on! This is one of the most chaotic bands of all time :D. To add to the weirdness, it's rumored that the drummer is behind the apple/dead cat costume mascot drummer named Nyango Star.
A band that was the door to Japanese metal for many with their opening and ending song for the internationally successful anime Death Note (Season 2). They shouldn't be missing from any good metal playlist.

Very influential and popular band in Japan. Genre flips are the theme with some super heavy riffs thrown in. Both of the drummers from Nemophila & Band-Maid were inspired by MTH's drummer (Nao) that women could be successful drummers in Jaapn. In addition Hanabie started out as a MTH cover band. Try Hungry Pride and Shimi (Off F***b**k) both are pretty heavy.
That was definitely an interesting journey through that song. Wish I could've understood what he was spitting there, but that drop was absolutely brutal :)
this song is about the abuse the guitarist suffered over his weight in his school years and the anger and rage that built up inside of him over it, hence the visuals of the school inside and out. @@realdocloco There is a sweet video where Tamu and MtH meet. Tamu is in the audience for some kind of program where MtH is telling stuff, I do not know what. And then Nao sees Tamu in the audience. Tamu and Nao are mutual fans of each other.

MTH are definitely one of the crazier bands you'll come across. Their concerts would be awesome and so much fun, but their music isn't really radio friendly, which I guess is much less of a problem in the streaming age. It's the sort of music that demands your attention.

MtH 🤘...
MtH is absolutely huge in Japan. Nao is probably the most influential female drummer in Japan inspiring players like Akane Hirose of BAND MAID and Tamu Murata of Nemophila to play. The band is known for mixing genres and wacky changes. All of their songs are completely different.
I have adhd, dyslexia and apd.....only music i like is heavy metal.

Yeah you are pretty close to the mark. They are often compared to system of a down, various punk bands, a little to The Red Hot Chilli Peppers (partly due to the bassist) etc.
Been around since the very late 90s I think.
Also have a good sense of humour. This is one of their more serious songs due to the subject, but they goof of a lot in one way or another in most instances.
