1. They should bring in the og cast to voice the characters in this series/movie. (If it's set in the later books, then we can hear Greg's voice deeper since the og actor has gotten older)
2. I really hope it's a series.
3. Realize how Susan Heffley (Greg's Mom) said "The next time we go on a trip, it's gonna be on a plane." at the end of The Long Haul, so if this is a movie then it could be an animated adaptation of The Getaway.
But still, these are just my thoughts, and I would love to hear urs😊 And also, plz like

The snowball scene is most likely The Meltdown because in cabin fever he was trapped in his home by snow so it would make no sense if he was outside. I don't know for sure it's just my opinion

Seriously, the DOAWK trilogy is my favorite in the history of cinema, how much care, feeling, and comedy is put into these 3 films is unbelievable.

I kind of wish that it was animated in the style of the animated segments from the original diary of a wimpy kid movies but this will do
I'm pretty sure an entire movie with everything being black and white and it's only being 2d animated would be pretty jarring to look at.
I understand black and white movies used to exist back then, but with today it's just not going to hold up well with audiences being used to everything usually seeing color.

I feel like with Rodrick it's 100% possible for Devon Bostick to reprise his role, same with Steve Zahn (the dad) and Rachael Harris (the mom), but with Zachary Gordon as Greg and Robert Capron as Rowley I think it'd have to be recasted because they wouldn't sound like kids anymore lol. unless they had like a flash-forward sequence where they're adults or somethin

If it’s a movie, looks like it’s gonna be based on Meltdown or, as you said, Cabin Fever. Heck, if it’s winter themed, Getaway could be a possibility as the Heffleys go on vacation around Christmas. Also, side note, maybe an Awesome Friendly Kid Movie in the future?

I feel bad for the commenters from 2020. They were so hyped for the movie but when it came out, it was terrible.

My Guess is it’s an adaptation of the first book because that’s the exact same snowball he makes in that book because of all the grime on it. And the majority of the cabin fever sections with snow have Greg staying inside not making a huge snowball. And meltdown more focused on the snowball fight between him and the other kids on his street and the lower surry street kids

The live-action movies actually didn't skip The Last Straw as plot points from that book were mixed with the story of Dog Days in the third movie, it's a mix of the 3rd and 4th book.
