From my knowledge, for dye-sub keycaps there are different factories manufacturing the keycaps itself (or "materials" as direct translation) and doing the dye-sub process. I guess geekark and hk gaming probably orderd the "material" from the same factory.

I just got a set of Geekark BoW yesterday from the most recent group buy from Swagkeys. My 7u spacebar had some warpage but functional on my board. It also came with an extra B, as well as an F13 which surprised me. As in your video, the accent spacebars were pretty much perfect, i got 5 different color accent kits and they're all perfect. I'm very happy with Geekark so far. Hopefully Geekark Triangle is the same quality!😃
I'm looking to get a set of white Japanese Hiragana keycaps and found a few black on white sets from Amazon from these Chinese manufacturers, but the material seems to be thin. This causes the per-key LED lighting to shine through the keycaps. Are the ePBT keycaps thick enough where the LEDs won't shine through them? Great quality content btw!

I don't have any ePBT anymore so I can't confirm but my experience with the Bobas is that they don't interfere with Cherry even when north-facing so they should be fine with scooped homing keys. Haven't tried the oil kings yet.

I've just compared with GMK and they are the exact same height. I've already sold my ePBT so I can't check that one, unfortunately, but I do remember the ePBT sitting on the switch higher than the others even though the keycaps themselves were the same height.

Oh you mean me lol. It's maddening when you're trying to find it and it seems to change depending on so many different factors. During normal use, on a south-facing keyboard, it's not noticeable at all.
dang, so underrated, you gained a new sub :D also got the ePBT dreamscape set with my savings and am excited, even though it'll arrive next year. on the vendor's website it says dye sub AND reverse dye sub legends, do you know what they could mean by that?
Thank you so much! Reverse dye sub means that they actually dye the color of the key all around the legend. So on Dreamscape, the colored keys are actually made of white PBT plastic and the color is dyed all around the letter. This is necessary when the legend you want to print is a lighter color than the key it's on. This is because the dye mixes with the color of the key so a lighter colored dye would just disappear on a darker key. Hope that was clear hehe
Pretty similar thickness. KAT is very smooth whereas ePBT has a rough texture. Not sure if legends are included in build quality but my KAT set had some smudged legends while the ePBT is pristine.

Thank you! Hmmm as far as OEM profile, there's unfortunately really nobody making those aside from Tai-Hao and I think they're all doubleshot. Yongqiu on Shopee has some OEM dye-sub sets but I don't think any of them are strictly BoW. You could also try a uniform profile like DSA, XDA, or NP. My next video is gonna be on an NP set from KBDFans. They're expensive though. Yongqiu, Cuxiu, and KBDFans are all on Shopee and are my go to recommendations for in-stock keycaps 😁
Mistel PBT would be my answer but for some reason they have really bad interference with my gateron yellows. Or u could go to oklb and get some north interference metal washers. It doesnt feel mushy or affect the sound. 120 pc for $6
When you gonna get some gmk keycaps? I heard gmk olivia R3 (which is a beautiful keycap set and im def gonna hop on the group buy) is gonna happen in the near future at 2022, I hopped on a gmk honor in early november and it was like hell waiting, but it ships out in july so im very exicted.
I'm still waiting on the perfect set to blow that amount of money on. I'm spending way too much and not earning on this channel right now lol. I'm not super high on Olivia. I think if Night Runner or DMG ever run again, I'll be very tempted hehe
I am on the fence about Geekark Dolch, the price is way higher than these BoW kits and I hear the darker colours scratch even more noticable. Then again I hear they have a way to prevent scratches somewhat but I don't think they already implemented that solution in GA Dolch. I use ePBT Spectrum and I mostly like the quality, even though some small details bug me still. I don't want to go all out on GA Dolch with ISO, International, Accents, Addons to be let down by their quality. Also I don't want to miss out an such a rare opportunity to get a good looking ISO NorDe set with Light on Dark looks.
I have the Geekark WoB now and that's full reverse dye-sub just like the Dolch. I looked closely at it and there are some very minor scratches from normal wear and tear (keycap puller, keycaps scraping against each other) but just like with the BoW, you'd need to be looking at it with the right angle of light to really see. I tried scratching a key with some metal tweezers and you can make a pretty deep permanent scratch, but even that isn't super noticeable from normal angles. I wouldn't worry too much about the scratching. The dye sub is pretty impeccable. I have zero problems with it. The legends do seem a bit thinner though and the bracket key legends are strangely big, like stretching all the way to the edge of the top surface. I'm really very happy with the set and I think the ~$80 group buy price for it is fair. The in-stock price of $100 though, I think, is a bit too high.

I got it from Keybox, who I believe is based in China, and does group buys and sells products to the Philippines. I do plan on making a video for the GA WoB, BoW, and the accents but the WoB accents aren't available yet and so I'm still waiting on them to complete my set 😅. Oof that is a lot of money. I will say that GA isn't the best quality you can get in terms of keycaps so you may be disappointed considering the money spent.
Feel bad buying a HK gaming set, only keeping it until my GB for an ePBT set comes in. HK sit in a pretty good place for people new to custom mechs being so cheap and on amazon, and for people in the UK HK are the only cheap options for UK iso.
Yeah don't sweat it. For keycaps, there is an accessibility problem. I wish HK would just make their own original colorways: work with some artists or hire their own.

regarding the scooped interference on EPBT keycaps, it's very very annoying with the interference with my normal (not long pole) pole the Durocks. And especially since I'm using the Durock Dolphins which are Silent Linears. And due to this interference, everytime I type F and J, they make clack sound, unlike all others that are silent. This doesn't happen on GMK sets tho, but unfortunately I'm still gonna use it since I still prefer PBT sets because I game often and don't like soon-to-shine keycaps... Curses on the scooped design, could've made it less curved instead...
Oh man, yeah, I imagine the interference would be worst with silent switches. It's really annoying that they go with scooped without a non-scooped alternative. On their ABS sets, F and J are just scooped and not barred! The group buy sets at least, have just barred.

I'm booked for the Geekark White on Black but I don't really know of many other options in Cherry profile. It'd have to be GMK and ePBT ABS. I don't think I'm financially prepared for a GMK purchase yet lol

Yeah WoB is hard because it needs to be either doubleshot or reverse dye-sub. I would recommend Geekark but you may have to settle for extras which will be more expensive and the group buy price was already pretty expensive (4125 PHP). I think the only WoB that Yongqiu has is the PBT doubleshot one. I personally really dislike the legends on that one as they're pretty inconsistently sized. But those are pretty cheap and aside from the legend sizing, I hear they're pretty good quality.
Yeah the options are slim in terms of backlit keycaps. There's the super cheap ones, Tai-Hao, and then the pudding ones from gaming brands. Unfortunately, I don't really like backlit keycaps so I probably won't be covering them. Sorry 😅
in conclusion just get hk keycaps, they are cheap and are 40 dollars and will get to you in like 2 days they all sounds the same so why bother giving the extra $20 to geekark or $40 to epbt even then I think they hk spacebar sounds better than all of them for some reason, it sounds less hollow, might just be the warpage also from what Ive noticed is that hk has a great feeling texture too

Basically spitting in their faces. But thanks for staying firm on not supporting clones. A lot of newcomers to the hobby will send hate to people who don’t support clones when they don’t really get all the hard work that goes into designing a keycap set. (I don’t buy clones but I also don’t judge those who buy them, but I also won’t advocate for clones. You can see this attitude reflected in r/customkeyboards. It’s just a pain when people reduce clones to “iTs JuST A cOlOrWaY.”)
Yeah, I feel guilty about featuring these scummy guys in two videos now. I tell myself I didn't know about them when I bought the set initially. And that I'm just trying to make content with what I have, as a small creator. But I do still feel bad about it so I'm glad to just put them behind me from this point on. The clones discourse is pretty bad. I actually do want to make more content around that discussion but it's not worth the damage it'll eventually do to my mental health.

Yeah, everyone has a black on white and HK's is actually unique with the blue accents. I don't think anyone has a problem with this set in particular, it's the other stuff hehe. Or maybe I've just not seen the conversations.
I believe the word you're looking for is homage, if it was a clone it would have to be made exactly the same, ergo doubleshot abs with the same molds. If that kind of stuff bothers you so much then you probably shouldn't own clothes or a cell phone either because those industries all copy the same thing as each other.
I obviously disagree with your definition of clone. It needn't be akin to a literal genetic clone for it to be problematic. Design is the majority of the appeal of keycap sets, at least in my opinion, so copying that even without having the same materials or legending process is problematic, again in my opinion. And homage implies respect and praise to someone or something. I think that if you asked biip or mito or any of these other designers who are getting their keycap set designs cloned, they would tell you that they feel disrespected by it. As for clothes and phones, if there were copying at the level of these keycap set clones then yeah, I'd have a problem with it too. But that certainly doesn't mean I'm going to boycott an entire industry or type of product, as a result.

Do scooped ePBT keycaps interfear even with boba u4t (long pole stems) or gateron oil kings (wich they fix interference problem)?
I don't have any ePBT anymore so I can't confirm but my experience with the Bobas is that they don't interfere with Cherry even when north-facing so they should be fine with scooped homing keys. Haven't tried the oil kings yet.

What do you think about PBT Frost, geekark being the manufacture? You said geekark was very prone to warping but what about a more recent set?
It's hard to say for sure but judging by the Geekark accent kits I have, which use a newer mold, newer Geekark sets should have very little warping.

I'm really very happy with the set and I think the ~$80 group buy price for it is fair. The in-stock price of $100 though, I think, is a bit too high.

I got it from Keybox, who I believe is based in China, and does group buys and sells products to the Philippines. I do plan on making a video for the GA WoB, BoW, and the accents but the WoB accents aren't available yet and so I'm still waiting on them to complete my set 😅.
Oof that is a lot of money. I will say that GA isn't the best quality you can get in terms of keycaps so you may be disappointed considering the money spent.
Feel bad buying a HK gaming set, only keeping it until my GB for an ePBT set comes in. HK sit in a pretty good place for people new to custom mechs being so cheap and on amazon, and for people in the UK HK are the only cheap options for UK iso.
Yeah don't sweat it. For keycaps, there is an accessibility problem. I wish HK would just make their own original colorways: work with some artists or hire their own.

regarding the scooped interference on EPBT keycaps, it's very very annoying with the interference with my normal (not long pole) pole the Durocks. And especially since I'm using the Durock Dolphins which are Silent Linears. And due to this interference, everytime I type F and J, they make clack sound, unlike all others that are silent.
This doesn't happen on GMK sets tho, but unfortunately I'm still gonna use it since I still prefer PBT sets because I game often and don't like soon-to-shine keycaps...
Curses on the scooped design, could've made it less curved instead...
Oh man, yeah, I imagine the interference would be worst with silent switches. It's really annoying that they go with scooped without a non-scooped alternative. On their ABS sets, F and J are just scooped and not barred! The group buy sets at least, have just barred.

I'm looking for good WoB keycaps, because for me it looks sleek. I got myself TaiHao keycaps, it's good but it doesn't have extra keys for my RK84, especially the 1u alt, fn, and ctrl keys. The nav keys also does not have correct heights.
ePBT WoB's currently out of stock. Considering buying from Yonqiu or Geekark. Would you recommend Yongqiu or wait for Geekark's GB?
Yeah WoB is hard because it needs to be either doubleshot or reverse dye-sub. I would recommend Geekark but you may have to settle for extras which will be more expensive and the group buy price was already pretty expensive (4125 PHP). I think the only WoB that Yongqiu has is the PBT doubleshot one. I personally really dislike the legends on that one as they're pretty inconsistently sized. But those are pretty cheap and aside from the legend sizing, I hear they're pretty good quality.

Yeah the options are slim in terms of backlit keycaps. There's the super cheap ones, Tai-Hao, and then the pudding ones from gaming brands. Unfortunately, I don't really like backlit keycaps so I probably won't be covering them. Sorry 😅

in conclusion just get hk keycaps, they are cheap and are 40 dollars and will get to you in like 2 days they all sounds the same so why bother giving the extra $20 to geekark or $40 to epbt
even then I think they hk spacebar sounds better than all of them for some reason, it sounds less hollow, might just be the warpage also from what Ive noticed is that hk has a great feeling texture too
Well there are a lot more factors than just sound hehe. But yeah if your primary concern is price and availability then HK wins out handily.

But thanks for staying firm on not supporting clones. A lot of newcomers to the hobby will send hate to people who don’t support clones when they don’t really get all the hard work that goes into designing a keycap set. (I don’t buy clones but I also don’t judge those who buy them, but I also won’t advocate for clones. You can see this attitude reflected in r/customkeyboards. It’s just a pain when people reduce clones to “iTs JuST A cOlOrWaY.”)
Yeah, I feel guilty about featuring these scummy guys in two videos now. I tell myself I didn't know about them when I bought the set initially. And that I'm just trying to make content with what I have, as a small creator. But I do still feel bad about it so I'm glad to just put them behind me from this point on.
The clones discourse is pretty bad. I actually do want to make more content around that discussion but it's not worth the damage it'll eventually do to my mental health.

Yeah, everyone has a black on white and HK's is actually unique with the blue accents. I don't think anyone has a problem with this set in particular, it's the other stuff hehe. Or maybe I've just not seen the conversations.
I mean, you kind of answered your own question, it's not the colorway, it's the company.
I believe the word you're looking for is homage, if it was a clone it would have to be made exactly the same, ergo doubleshot abs with the same molds. If that kind of stuff bothers you so much then you probably shouldn't own clothes or a cell phone either because those industries all copy the same thing as each other.
I obviously disagree with your definition of clone. It needn't be akin to a literal genetic clone for it to be problematic. Design is the majority of the appeal of keycap sets, at least in my opinion, so copying that even without having the same materials or legending process is problematic, again in my opinion.
And homage implies respect and praise to someone or something. I think that if you asked biip or mito or any of these other designers who are getting their keycap set designs cloned, they would tell you that they feel disrespected by it.
As for clothes and phones, if there were copying at the level of these keycap set clones then yeah, I'd have a problem with it too. But that certainly doesn't mean I'm going to boycott an entire industry or type of product, as a result.
