JFC Nick is so ripped that his veins have arms. Also, I sincerely cannot comprehend how he manages to study medicine at Harvard, conduct original research, go to the gym and upload stuff to TH-cam regularly. I barely have enough energy to take care of my kids, do housework and ride my bike every now and then. Much respect.
Re. the method he's following to get information out to the masses and provoking a conversation, I think he's finding the right balance.

@@ascarby Yes. All physicians MD / DO and doctors PhDs, thin or fat had great discipline to complete university and residency : ) Yes extra points for eating well, Nick has health issues so he creates himself bigger problems if he doesn't eat well. That tends to help people stay on track, of course not everyone. Now if he had at least a 16" bicep, at the same time, that would be impressive. Anything beyond 16" and 9% body fat becomes even more impressive for sure.

Great vid! Your results are not surprising. I've been doing a carnivore diet for 18 months where I haven't had a single grain of sugar (or fruits, veg, grains, oils) but eaten a ton of saturated animal fats, meat, eggs and dairy. Not quite as much butter as in your experiment but I do get through just under 1kg per week. Feel brilliant mentally and physically. Many issues in my body which I usually attribute to aging have reversed. My wife is off all anxiety meds (actually both off all meds - we're 54) and my mom's reversed type2 diabetes.

You do good work man. The getting clicks game is what it is. While the title and thumbnail may be "click baity," it was not dishonest and the video was informative as you always are. Dial in what you need to to get more eyes on your content. I would also mention, that while it is not central to what you do by any means, I respect that you have such a lean physique. It always helps when nutrition presenters actual can walk the walk and be a positive representation for the message.

I truly appreciate your work brother. Started keto in Oct last year quickly switched to carnivore and then dropped about 60 so far and healed countless issues!! YAY! CAC done this month, zero score... did echo stress, great report. Thinking of moderating towards more keto but not sure exactly what types of food I could add back in and keep the carbs super low. If you have a desire to do another "Clicky" video.. Would you consider a "what one can eat on Keto and keep the carbs below 20 a day" type thing???? Just a thought. Thanks for the REAL Science; we appreciate the heck out of you and Dave and others...

I agree with some others below. It is not the click bait that keeps me coming back but the honesty and science. There is enough click bait already on the internet and I usually just ignore them. It is because you are honest and try to make science relatable that your channel is going to grow to be very large. I will admit that I do enjoy some of your humor and it makes me laugh!!

Hey Nick keep it as it is, as always very interesting and informative. I personally watch every video of yours and Dave’s. On a calories 🟰 weight perspective I have recently been checking my diet and I regularly log around 1000 calories more than would be my target on cronometer but my weight is very stable. I’m low carb, high protein and fat.

I liked this video. Your result with the heavy butter consumption is so interesting! I had a too thin middle-aged female friend, long ago, whose doctor told her to drink Guiness Stout with lots of heavy cream mixed in and to do this every day in order to gain weight. I don't know what the proportions of stout/cream were and also don't know how she fared with this recommendation. But you sure brought the memory back.

Congratulations for your channel presenting metabolic principles in medecine in a playful or provocative way. Loved your Oreo Cookie ldl test which will serve me well answering an MD who thinks the fraudulent diet heart hypothesis is cast in concrete. Love your statement that acute does not equal chronic. Expect lots of flak from those with a huge conflict of interest that do not care in the least for our health. Just got my labs back after 1 year of keto …
So my cholesterol is super duper high (as is my small particle ldl). Thankfully I have a ketogenic doctor that I’ll be seeing next month and he supports my carnivore diet. I know I may have heart disease from years of bad choices, but that’s life before carnivore. I do know now that it’s not because of my high fat carnivore diet.
Can’t imagine how you pulled this butter experiment off! I can’t eat butter because it rips up my stomach, so just nice fatty ribeye and lamb! Never had GI problems until I went carnivore and was miserable for months until I finally took out the butter. It goes to show we all have to tweak our diet as we go along

    • @kenadams5504
      @kenadams5504 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Why so many 'small' ldl particles ? .Don't elimination diets result in large, bouyant ldl ?.

I have plenty of large too. But my small particle seems higher than I would like. I’ll have to talk to my doctor about that at my next appointment.

As a Carnivore for a year now I would just like to add that not all butter is created equal. We use butter as a dip for home made beef jerky. We started with regular butter,BJs brand. A little too much and it upset the stomach. We switched to KerryGold and it was much better. After we found out about the lawsuit against Kerry we switched to Finlandia, much better and tastier. Next my girl found a butter called Plugra. By far and away the best butter I have ever eaten,it is 82% butter fat instead of 80. Yesterday she found a European butter Danish Creamery that was 85% butter fat and it just didn't compare to the Plugra. So as an amateur butter taster I just wanted to let you know that all butter is not created equally.

You are wonderful researcher and communicator of health science so you will be successful whatever style you decide on. My advice would be to let your content (and not your style and click bait skills) be the primary reason many of us who want to learn follow you. As hard as it may be in this time of social media, try not to let volume (number of subscribers, views, etc) take priority of quality of content and clarity of message (even if the message is nuanced). Keep them coming and the best of luck in Med School, I know how demanding that can be,

One of the differences between major acute and chronic changes in diet is the adaptation over time of the microbiome to the new energy and nutrition source. Additionally, cellular and systems level biochemical pathway responses also evolve, along with additional factors such as satiety and food preference responses.
On top of this, individuals vary in their preceding genetic, epigenetic, environmental, physiological, cognitive, and other confounding states.
There are good reasons for large properly implemented research trials. And for individual self testing.
