    In some way, this video was just the kind of validation I needed to hear.

      Well, I hope that was good!

    Long, but worth it. I twitched when you mentioned someone having boxes of sketchbooks no one ever sees. 😶 There are pieces I keep for myself, but there are others that I need someone else to tell me if it was effective in conveying what I wanted. Humour for one, hidden art for another (as the artist I can't not see the hidden stuff).

      Glad it was worth it. This episode was a bit strange for me to record...I feel like my perspective actually started shifting as I moved through it. Not a common thing, haha.

    Ouuuuh another long one! :D I am at the beginning admiring the sick brush pen confidence. Cheers!

    A Very interes))ting drawing to pair with this conversation. Going deep into the "maul". :) An unique environment. I never saw stalagtites, and stalagmites as teeth or claws until I started watching your vids. It has opened my imagination! :) Going to have to think about this topic for a while. Not sure I've ever really needed validation... but, when it comes, it does bring a smile.

      Yeah, I felt the same, but maybe my idea of the definition changed...or maybe my understanding did as I moved through it. This was a little bit of a weird one for me!

    Wow! You hatching skills are impressive! Any tips to get started for a beginner? 🤩

    • @zack_feldman

      Thanks!
      The big tip would be to think about which direction the surface moves before putting a mark on it. I try to think about the surface, letting the hatching move around it, or follow the way it moves.
      If you are looking for in depth ink tech, I don't have that material up yet...but I would direct you toward Alphonso Dunn here on youtube. He is wonderful and kind, and does great ink work. Some of his basic videos would be everything you need to get started!

      @@Flash-Strike Had to go look at the video and see which one I used there! Pigma brush pens and Microns are what I seem to have used in this video.
      You should easily be able to google Pigma Brush Pen, or Pigma Micron 01 and find the majority of what I've used!

    I have the opposite probmem. When i work in public i cant get people to leave me alone. The minute i get in the groovevsomeone demands my attention. Oart of that is that i read lips to understand some voices.

    • @zack_feldman
      @zack_feldman  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That happened to me a lot when I was young, and perhaps if I worked truly in "public" I may run into it again!
      Do you work in public often? Like coffee shops or airports?

      @@zack_feldman Up until a few weeks ago when my engine died, I'd drive hub to work and go to mcd's or library all day to save gas. So, I did my art at both places. Now, I'm trying to adjust to doing it at home but it doesn't "feel" right. Still, I'm doing it a little everyday.

    Do you think for a lot of artists that need validation on their art, their art is an extension of them personally and the validation feeds their worth as a person, rather than it actually being about art? The art is the first layer of defence of themselves. So it’s safer to present the art first instead of their own vulnerability.

    • @zack_feldman
      @zack_feldman  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I think for a lot of artists...yes, that is the case. Craft is often an extension of individual. Many also just get lost in the woods, spending their time with their nose in their work, and the validation is a useful tool to know that they are still on target.
      Humans are complicated though, and trying to figure out the why...though good, is difficult!

      @@zack_feldman thank you, I think I do this but in a shield way rather than an extension way, so if they don’t like my craft I’m more like “I don’t care because it’s not really me” so my work isn’t really true, it’s kind of disassociated… does that make sense? Anyways, thanks for your time and insights 💜
