Out of the million videos I've seeing about cutting long hair with layers, Yoshi's is by far the best! He is very clear about explaining the technique and the hair cut looks flawless. He is truly talented and professional. Thank you for making this video!
Her hair is sooooo pretty at the end! Nice work! I love how you didn't over texturize, which so many people do. That KILLS the shine and flow of the hair. This was so refreshing! :-)
Yoshi this video is exactly what i was looking for, its a great help thank you so much!!! I recently finished working in the salon I was in and am not yet qualified, so as i am doing some hair at home i could really use your videos for guidance!!! Keep up the good work, much appreciated :-)
I'm in cosmetology school and I absolutely hated haircuts when I started, now as I learn the techniques and practice I'm starting to fall in love with them. You're videos are really clear and easy to understand along with what they teach me at school. Thanks a lot!
What a wonderful and patient teacher you are. I was fascinated by this video. You took great pains to make sure that the recording of the haircut was visible, and you did not block the cutting with your hand or body. Some of the other videos are so amatuerish.Thankyou
This is the BEST tutorial on how to cut long hair with layers. Very talented stylist and cuts with precision. Beautiful cut. I love it! Keep these coming. Very good job of explaining to the average person why you do certain things while cutting hair! Excellent! Malina
Thank you!!! For not chopping all her hair off!! The final cut was beautiful. I enjoyed your video very much. I have seen a lot of hair cutting tutorials on youtube, but yours is by far the best. I think I'm just really grateful seeing someone respecting the long hair! haha! Anyway, great job!
I just cut my 3 year old daughter's hair using this as an example. Her hair turned out awesome. I had zero how to cut front layers but now I do. AWESOME clean haircut! Thank you!
Just discovered you today. I have been doing hair now for about a year, and my clientele is starting to build. I still have anxiety about cutting long hair, but this video really helped. I love learning little tricks to make things easier. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!
Thank you so much! I love how you literally explain this cut step by step! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!! I sometimes get lost in my long haired cuts and your tutorial was very helpful!
Yoshi, love your talent. The model's hair is beautiful. I love your instruction, easy to understand and you can tell you really enjoy what you do. Thanks for all the great vids!
Currently I do not have any wavy/curly hair videos but II will definitely look for models with wavy/curly hair for the future. As for how to explain the cut you are looking for, my favorite way is when a client brings in a bunch of pics of what they are looking for. This helps me see what they are looking for oppose to having them explain what they are looking for. I hope this helps and thank you again!
Thank you very much for the update, I am very happy to hear that it turned out great! With some practice it will get easier. :) Best of luck on your future cuts and thank you again for your comments!
Thank you very much Brent Mayes, I really appreciate the kind comment very much!!! I will definitely keep my eye out for some V & U shape models to cut. Thank you again for the request!! :)
You did an amazing job! Thank you so much for explaing what it is you are doing during each step of the hair cut, and why. I appreciate the fact that you are teaching us your personal skills and that you want us to actually learn!
Thank you so very much JBlitchy for the comment, I really appreciate it very much and I will for sure let you know if I am ever in Orlando sharing some classes. :) Thank you again!
Thank you very much LivingForHisGlory, I totally appreciate it very much!!! As for how I would describe this cut to a stylist, it would go something like this: "I would like long layers through out the interior of the hair and layers that frame the face starting from my chin down to the outline." Now having said that, nothing beats a picture so if you have a picture, this will always be better for the stylist to understand what you want. Hope this helps and thank you so very much again!!! :)
Great work!I've never seen a hairdresser who works with so much precision as fast. If I had a free wish I'd had a haircut from you.Love your videos. You are very talentet. Greetings from an hairdresser in Germany
Thank you very much Lynn Wawia for the kind words, I really appreciate it very much! I am super happy to hear that it helped and hopefully your mom likes the video as well!!! :) Thank you again!
Hello yuanhorng, thank you so very much for the kind words as I really appreciate it very much! :) As for the face frame layers, they are a little tricky at first but I am sure you will be able to bust them out soon with just a little practice. :) Keep up the great work and thank you again for the kind comment!
I'm currently in college learning level 2 hairdressing, my confidence in cutting isn't that great, but this video has really helped me to understand how to cut layers better and given me some confidence! I do wish you were my teacher, thank you so much for posting the video! :)
I hope u have many more videos?! I am in school right now 4 barber/cosmetology & I wish I would of found your videos sooner. Some ppl can read books & learn that way .. I am a visual learner. I need to see it, read it, and do it! I so appreciate u making this video bc I have an exam 2mro as well! U r a teacher? Ur very patient & sweet. Thank u 4 making a channell! Cosmetologists are awesome!
Hello noelianino, Great question! Salon was definitely much different from school for me as well. My biggest advice is to never stop educating yourself. To this day, I still continue to educate myself as this is how I feel I have been able to grow to who I am today. Also find a good mentor as well who has been down the road where you want to go and let them guide you to success. I hope this helps noelianino!! Thank you again!
Thank you so very much Mzz Trish for the comment, I really appreciate it very much!!! I will work on getting a model and producing this haircut as soon as possible. :) Thank you very much again!
you made it look so easy, and it didnt take you a long time either. I am starting hair school next month at Douglas J Aveda Institute, and your videos are helping me become more excited about at there is to hair. thank for sharing!
Thank you very much Susy Flores, I totally appreciate your comment very much!!! As for my techniques, I had trained and worked at Vidal Sassoon where I built my foundation. :) You are too kind and thank you again!
This haircut video was very helpful and intresting, im curently a barber/cos student and I cant get enough info on new haircuts and styles. cant wait to see more of your great videos
Sooo helpful!! I have been cutting my own hair/ having people help me for a while now to save money...now thanks to your awesome instruction I have a whole new perspective on how to go about it the right way. You rock! You're quite handsome too :)
hi, i love your work and appreciate you taking the time to do these videos! I would love to see some mens haircuts and maybe a series on the most requested haircuts and styles you get in the salon. thanks
THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video!! This was the best! You explained everything very well, I have been looking for a video like this, with explaining and cutting, not just cutting and you have made one! Thank you!
I'm in cosmetology school right now and doing my first long layer cut tomorrow. This video helps out explain the process better !!!! Thank you and I subbed to see more :-)
It would be awesome if you could make this video! It is a technique I don't know how to do and would be excited to learn! I can't thank you enough for making the videos and still taking your time to answer everyone's questions around here. Thanks again!
Thank you very much starz2009r, I totally appreciate the kind comment. As for heavier layers in the front, the easiest way would be to over direct all of the hair back as this would then leave the front nice and heavy. I hope this helps! :)
Thank you so very much lovecandela!!!! I really appreciate the compliment a ton!!! You are awesome and I thank you again for the kind words and comment!!
Thanks for replying! I am in NC, and I am going to be cutting my own hair now since I can't find anyone to do it right! I'm too far away from you but if I was closer I would be calling you! Nice haircut!
Hello Katie Haskins, Thank you very much for the kind words, I totally appreciate it tons! As for the sheers, those happened to be Fuji's. As for different brands, I personally like the Japanese brands as the steel seems to last the longest on staying sharp. :) Thank you again! :)
very informative thanks. I have a curly girl and I cut her hair myself despite not being a stylist. I've been layering her hair (to prevent the cursed pyramid hair) based on logical thinking, but seeing how you part the hair is very useful. Thanks! Love your name by the way.
Yoshie I love Your cutting.I just open my new salon and I wish I can cut the hair like yo do, please teach us more styles to cut so we can learn I think yo are the only one who cut the hair so much clean and showing us very clearly Please Please upload more I am waiting for your more video anxiously thank yo so very much...
Thank you so very much for the kind words Rebecca Rainer, I really appreciate it tons!!! As for your boys, nice square layers would work great! The layers would keep the top light and floating and the layers on the sides would do the same. You could have the length come down to the ears just to cover them and then you could texturize the hair with scissors or a razor to give it that textured airy look. :) Thank you again!
Thank you very much kmitjans! Congratulations on graduating soon!!! As for the a-line section, I personally find it tends to flow a little better with the curvature of the head. Since the head is a round shape, I personally find that an angled section just curves and flows a little better around the head. Having said that, in this haircut, you could totally do square square type sections and it would be just fine. :) Thank you very much again for the comment!!! :)

I graduated from cosmetology school in September and had a baby shortly after and have not gotten out into a salon yet, so your videos have really helped me brush up on things. I was just curious why you use diagonal forward partings when cutting your length. Thank you for your videos, I hope you continue to make them! :)
Great question Sarah Mitchell. Typically it depends on who my client is as some of my clients love the slight bevel so I am happy to do it. At the end of the day, yes I still do it but it is more of a client request thing. :) I hope this helps! :)
Thank you very much for the kind words efeckz, I really appreciate it very much! I will work on an A line bob as soon as I get a model to film. Thank you again!
I love that you explain what result you would get from each cut and angle. As a new hairstylist I WANT to know why I am holding the hair a specific way, what result I would get and the advantages of parting the hair a cerain way over another. YOU HAVE A NEW SUBSCRIBER! Looking foward to going through your channel! Thank you!!!
Super great question Ruby! The answer is not all the time. Sometimes I am taking more off the back then the front as the client wants more volume in the back. Other times, I may be simply cutting as much as I think would be necessary for the shape to work with the clients face/features. Now having said this, the difference is not by much so if you were to take off the same amount in the back as the front, I am sure it will still look good. Does this make sense? I hope this helps Rudy!
All I could think of after watching this was.. why did I not find your video sooner!! I love this cut and it is always the cut I want, but my regular stylist moved to Texas and I haven't found anyone that can do the same cut.. but this is EXACTLY what I want in long layers :) Now all I need to do is show my stylist and hopefully she can do this for me when my hair grows out!! :)
Hello Annette Ryan, Thank you very much for the kind words, I really appreciate it very much!!! I am super happy to hear you found the video helpful. :) I wish you nothing but the best of luck and thank you again for the comment! :)
Hello yuanhorng, that is a great question. :) My biggest recommendation is to take great classes that may come to town or that you may travel too. I find that staying educated by the best helps me stay on top of my game as we all will always continue to learn. No one is ever done learning and that is what makes fashion so fun. I hope this helps. :)
Great video...you made things really simple and I feel a lot more confident about this cut :-) the other videos on here completely confused me and didn't go through steps and explain things as well as you did...thank you :-)
wow this is a very good video!! thanks so much for making it!! my mom used to be a hairdresser and i think she could learn a few things from this video so that she can cut my hair at home!! would be a huge money saver, and not having to go too different hair stylists at different salons that always seem to cut the layers wrong! this video does exactly what i ask for but never get! thanks a bunch! =)
Hello SuperBrilliantbrunet, Thank you tons for the kind words! I will definitely work on finding some curly hair models. As for where I am, I reside in both NYC and Salt Lake City. :) Thank you again for the comment!
tks you yoshi, from hammonton nj, you are so talented ,after the client leaves i go back to my computer and guess who i look for it ? your videos, looking forward to attend seminar ,having you as a master hairstylish, some day
Hello leilapink26, thank you tons for the kind words!! As for a V shape layered cut, I will work on finding a model for this cut and get the video produced as soon as possible. :) Thank you again!
Thank you very much for the kind words WinterMelonx, I really appreciate it!As for cutting your own hair, that is a tricky one. My best recommendation is to cut your hair dry. In fact I would blow dry it in the exact way you want to wear it.After you blow dry it in the exact style you would want to wear it, then it is at this time when I would start trimming in front of a mirror. This will still be tricky but at least if you dry it first, you can see how it is going to look as you cut.Make sense?
Yes it does. At the end of the day, what one is simply cutting in a shape in the hair so regardless if it is a weave, the technique would be the same. I hope this helps and thank you for the comment! :)
Great question heatga, I personally find A-line sections follow the roundness of the shape of head better then a square section. This is of coarse my personal opinion. :) Thank you again!
Great question LaLaurenApril. In long one length hair, I find that A-line sections follows the roundness of the shape of the head a little more fluidly. Having said this, this is a personal opinion so if one took straight across sections on a long below the shoulder one length trim, the result would be the same. :) At the end of the day, it is personal preference. I hope this helps!
I like how you explain all the steps and speak loud an clear, I don't know if their is a way or link to all your videos I realy like how you make it so simple. Thanks
Thank you tons LittleMonster1214, I am super happy you enjoyed the videos and yes, that is a "We Pray For Japan" bracelet. Thank you very much again!!!
Thank you so much!! I have an interview on monday and I want to do long layers for my model(friend, she doesnt want to much cut off). Im out of practice so this helped me so much, im gonna do this cut on her!!!

Thank you so very much Jacqueline S, I really appreciate your kind comment tons!
Thank you very much starz2009r, I totally appreciate the kind comment. As for heavier layers in the front, the easiest way would be to over direct all of the hair back as this would then leave the front nice and heavy. I hope this helps! :)

I graduated from cosmetology school in September and had a baby shortly after and have not gotten out into a salon yet, so your videos have really helped me brush up on things.
Thank you very much mytv80, I totally appreciate your kind comment very much!!!
