They had to change the recipe for Skittles cause IIRC it contained chrome nitrate or some shit at food safe levels. Just like Mt. Dew contained a fire retardant. You're wrong about the skittles. lime was the best because you paired it with the lemon for a nice lemon lime. the green apple flavor doesn't complement any of the other flavors. it's tart, overpowering, and an unwelcome change.
