- BAIC introduces macho, retro, modern off-road capable military style Jeep-like SUV.
The BJ40 Plus is a fully capable off-road vehicle powered by a 2.0L Turbocharged gasoline engine producing 218hp 380Nm with a 8-Speed Automatic ZF Gearbox with a Borg Warner Electronic Transfer Box and a 5-link rear axle. Front suspension is double wishbone and we understand the brakes are developed by Mitsubishi.
The looks are really great, it is retro in design, but with full modern amenities. Interestingly, it have a built in internal roll cage and the roof panels are detachable. The front windscreen can also fold forward like an army vehicle.
This is an interesting vehicle and should get quite a high following.

This car using SAAB Sweden 2.0 engine technologies and ZF 8 speed germany transmition. So powerful and smooth driving looo
The ZF and Borg Warner I can confirm, but not too sure about the engine.
Should also come with a tin top version like a FJ cruiser. Not everyone is into these detachable pieces.

I heard BJ40 is slotted to be lower-priced because it is going to be CKD, but so far we have not heard 9r seen any further developments. The Tank is officially launched and the price is as stated. These vehicles are not BEV so there is no rebate on duties.

IF it get rid of the SAAB engine and the ZF trans and replace it with something from Toyota THEN I may consider buying one....Never did like Euro car parts.
I tjink ZF and BorgWarner are good names - not too sure if it is a European engine
