    I'm waiting for my M36 from the Martin Custom Shop that will hopefully be ready within the next few weeks, it's been on order for over a year. Can't wait, read so many positive comments about this model Martin guitar.

    I own an M36 and it is pure guitar heaven. I love everything about it.

    I love my M-36! Fingerpicking on it is a dream! Feel of the guitar is excellent and strumming sounds pretty dang good too even though I think the Dread gets the nod for strumming. But this instrument is really special and just resonates like crazy.

    Cool video! Enjoyed the review and the music. The Martin is cool but I love that natural wood finish on the guitar hanging by your head ;)

      Sweet! I'm doing a demo of that one soon. It's a Breedlove Oregon Myrtlewood Concerto. Look for that one soon. Thank you!

    Nice man! Solid mic and more than 30 seconds of playing, haha! ( but i am surprised when people make vids of guitars and play for such little amount of time and maybe strum but no fingerpicking and vice versa, so props.) I might be getting one tomorrow by trading my National steel resonator.!?...

    I was looking at a D18 or D28 for my next guitar, but the M-36 sounds so much more balanced

    • @dustinrosemusic
      @dustinrosemusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have found that to be true too. It is a much more balanced and controllable sound, especially when amplifying it. Dreadnoughts are cool and have a great voice but the M-36 might be more versatile.

    Great video, well done Dustin, I ordered myself this m36 also. Seems like the best choice if you have short arms like myself and can´t handle the d28 really well.
    To big body depth, sadly i had to sell it.
    thanks for your helping explanation :)

      These are such a great guitar. It’s a different animal than the d28, for sure. I absolutely love mine. Hope you have a similar experience. Stay in touch and let me know what you think.

      Hey hello.
      Meanwhile something is changed. The volume of the m36 can’t beat a dreadnought. That’s for sure. I made a deal with my music store and went for a gibson hummingbeard original just a few weeks ago.
      It has short scale wich makes a huge different for me .
      And it plays like butter, and also the sound is really sweet. Just love it.
      Ofcourse i already had a n LG-2 from gibson.
      So i known and love that gibson sound.
      Different then martin but very sweet.

    Thank you for making this video! I love the spread this guitar covers! What strings do you run on the M36?

    • @dustinrosemusic
      @dustinrosemusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have been using Mapes Phosphor Bronze in the 12s. I believe that in this video I was using D’Addario Phosphor Bronze 12s. I’ve also used Martin SPs and GHS. All of these are these are great strings. Which brand do you recommend?

    Hey how loid is it? I'm in between this and a j45

    • @dustinrosemusic
      @dustinrosemusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s a great question! It’s louder than the OM models but not quite as loud as the dreadnoughts or jumbos. The J-40 is a great option. I’d like to do a comparison video between the M-36 and J-40 at some point but I don’t have a J-40 available to me at the moment. I don’t have a ton of first hand experience with the J45 but I would guess that it is a bit louder.

    • @dustinrosemusic
      @dustinrosemusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would listen carefully and try each, if you can. They have very different voices. You might prefer the sound better from the M-36. Or you may truly need more volume and get the J45. But trying them will give you a chance to evaluate them. The process can be very fun and revealing. Cheers!

  • @Hjaltland2

    Whats your thoughts on the J40 by comparison?

    • @dustinrosemusic
      @dustinrosemusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is a great question. I do not have a lot of experience with the J40. They are great guitars and I've considered getting one in the near future. My initial impression is that they are pretty similar. The biggest difference might be that the M-36 has a very quick immediate attack of notes. The J-40 seems like it takes a little more time before the sound comes out of the sound hole probably due to the increase space. This could also make it louder. However, I do believe that the sound frequencies and tone are pretty similar in nature. Do you have either of them? What are your experiences with them? Any thoughts?

    • @Hjaltland2
      @Hjaltland2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dustinrosemusic Thanks for your reply. Ive been playing a D35 since 2010 for accompanying trad music with bass line and chords and the D35 has a really great mellow tone that is impressive. However for some time now Ive been doing a lot more melody worl = single / two note lines and would like an instrument with a bit more projection in the mid range. The M36 and the J40 are candidates but I also want built-in electronics such as the Fishman aura or similar - so Im also looking at the OM28E retro . As far as I am aware neither the M36 nor J40 are supplied with electrics.

    • @dustinrosemusic
      @dustinrosemusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Hjaltland2 you are probably correct on the electronics. That OM28E retro is also a great candidate. The good thing about the M-36 and J-40 is that you can have an open slate and put the pickups you want in it. I love the LR Baggs but the Fishman is great too! This is a great problem to have. There isn't a bad choice in your candidates.
