So funny how determined mankind can be! Look at all of those failures and every design flaw that had to happen until we got it just right. Who would have known that so much thought and development had gone into the bicycle!?
Some of those bicycles look like they were a major challenge to ride, let alone mount! Hats off to those determined inventors for their perseverance. I'm sure injuries incurred during trials were common place.
Baffling how long a time and how many iterations it took to make the bicycle anything close to practical. I mean how would anyone think 2:14 was a good idea. xD
its amazing how many designs there where. it seems so simple now, but to see some of those designs makes you believe some inventors where batshit crazy!
Love this old colorized film. But why make a bicycle with such a high wheel and seat at 2:15? What's the benefit? Looks like a deathtrap on two wheels.
Bigger wheels enabled greater speeds on flat terrain and a smoother ride for direct drive bicycles because the rim of a huge wheel travelled much faster than the tiny pedal circumference while the entire wheel acted as a shock absorber, obvious downside was the risk of cracking your head open from falling 8ft+. This all became redundant with the invention of chain driven gears and pneumatic tyres.
It’s crazy, but I have always wondered how people got on this large bikes back then...now I know! Thank you for this video!
i imagine getting on being acually possible but how do you get off wothout this thing falling.
He looks so happy
Yeah...happier than me

Thats the way Inventions are Made
Fun to see the old form of Dutch
I think it's interesting how little the basic design of the bicycle has changed in a hundred years. Shows it's a good design!
First youtube videos where straight on point.

first ever fail video when he faceplants off the penny farthing? lol

Amazing how they found all those old bikes in 1915.
Amazing to see the evolution of the bicycle and to see the person who made it happen in color.
Awesome! the 1st few were super wonky! Went for a long ass mountain bike ride today, so this fits, thanks for the video!
You have to be kidding? With a giant wheel like that, more difficult to hop on , the chances of falling is greater. Then, oops... crash! LOL. (2:12
)
2:37 is 2020 everyone that lives on this Planet called Earth.
2:36 😂
2:38 my guy gets his shit rocked and then just walks it off 😂
That last bike with freewheel is sweet
Didnt know Bicycles were That Old
2:22 Time traveling Ed Helms riding an 1800s model bicycle.
Lol what a jolly guy.

Second last bike- I would love to have bike with this frame geometry and 26 inch wheels. With modern gears it would be very comfy bike I think.

0:49 and 3:24 almost the same, what was with the big front wheel thing, there are still pot holes now with the current design
amazing
0:10 - when you cannot cycle in a bicycle.
1:00 ouch!!
Felt the same at 2:36, this guy was a good sport about it too.
One fall and a few broken bones
First unboxing video ever
3:38 es la única bicicleta que montaría, los demás modelos están para romperse la cara :-S
That time he took a dive off that skyscraper lol
These would all be popular at burning man, especially if they sported a sound system playing this music.
0:49 first mullet bike 😂
This film took just last week and Post-processed and VFXed.
What is in the background at 2:36 ?
And I thought falling off a bike that is waist height was bad. This guy just took a fall off a 7 foot tall bicycle.
Why didnt he just go with the last one first, i mean two wheels of equal size seem more logical.
GET A HORSE!
