I've been physically disabled since birth. I'm retired now & don't get out of the house much, so I love these videos. I always shared them with my 95 year-old dad, whom we lost in December after a fall.
I am so sorry for your loss 🙏🏻. My Dad passed in Jan.'21 at 82. He loved travelling - was a merchant marine from 1957-1964, so exactly when this lovely film was shot. Our loved ones will always stay with us in our hearts. I often speak to my parents when I am alone. I am very sorry that you cannot leave your home much.
My mother was a teenager in the 60s and told me the sleeveless dresses had armseyes that were cut so high they would hurt her armpits. She is still nostalgic about the good bits though, especially that the food in their family (they were rich farmers) was so much better quality and more delicious than what she can buy today from a supermarket or a farmshop. They wouldn't go out and buy clothing most of the time they needed clothing, they would buy or repurpose fabric and then get one sister to draft patterns for all of the girls (11 girls, 2 boys), a few sisters to do the sewing, and they would all have 1 or 2 formal outfits each aka sunday clothes.
60s fashion was great. One of my fave fashion periods along with the 40s and 50s. But I really love 60s London fashion. It was so innovative, colourful and very timeless.
@@pagethreemodel You've described how I feel about 60s London fashion. Current mainstream fashion is boring in comparison in my opinion, and I see the former as more modern than what's in now.
That's pretty much the Paris I remember, I was there in 1969. Beautiful city, and I got stuck in the roundabout going around the Arc de Triomphe, going round and round. The cars coming into the roundabout had the right-of-way, so trying to exit meant basically, that you had to pick your exit, close your eyes while blasting your horn, and going for it! (Somehow I survived.) I had the best bowl of French Onion Soup that I've ever had in my life in Rue St. Denis, consumed while watching beautiful women in wonderful dresses parading down the street. Thanks so much for the memories, because sadly- that Paris will never be seen again. I love your work!
Thank you for sharing your memories! I wish I could travel through time and go back to this amazing decade. It's crazy how both people like you, who actually lived during this time, and people like me (who didn't) are nostalgic. I'm always dreaming about the past...
I took my first trip to Paris in 1966. Everyone was so beautifully dressed and well mannered and their style made quite an impact on me--for the better! Paris is still very special, but it has changed so much from the way it was back then.
Looks so relaxing. Before mass-tourism. About 8 years ago I went to the Eiffel tower and had to wait in line early in the morning for an hour or so before I was able to catch the elevator to the very top. It'd totally blow the designer's mind that so many years later, so many people would be lining up to go up there, especially since it was only meant to be a temporary structure.
I was there in 1997 during the summer and there was no long line whatsoever and we 15-year-olds definitely didn't go there in the early morning :D . I think we even took the stairs, but I don't remember if it was from the ground or the middle platform.
I lived in Paris in the late 60s. My mother was a journalist and needed to cover the Paris riots in 68 for work and she loved it there so much we didn't go back to London. We rented a flat in le marais from a female lion tamer. I spoke perfect French in a couple of months. The Paris that I remember then was true 1960s bohemian beatnik rhapsody. Jane Birkin the Rolling stones etc all came to mum's parties
Lovely images, nice to see American cars driving in Paris. I spotted a 1955 Ford crown Victoria and another Ford from that era. Driving an American car in the 1950's in Europe had a certain cachet.
When I see these images I still just can’t believe I live next to the Eiffel Tower and in the city of my dreams ♥️ 7 years of marriage with this wonderful land 🥰😍
Seriously?!!!!???? I want to be your friend. I live and love Ireland, but to be in Paris J, what a life, hope you have watched the before movies with Julie Delpy.
Merci !
The French were still eating baguettes back then which I loved to see...and they were eating them with finesse! A beautiful moment in time...and I'm glad I visited France years ago as it's a beautiful country.
@@jesusisnotgod4265 Well, of course the Parisians today are different. This film is over 60 years old. I reckon many of these people have passed away by now.
Google images of Paris now. Ever been there recently? It’s literal hell on earth. Gee, I wonder how that happened? I wonder who’s responsible for that swift demographic change? We were never even asked.
Men dressed and acted like men, and women dressed and acted like women. They were normal, whatever that means. Today it's different. We have the worst dressed and behaved people of all time.

Don't need to know your life story but ok 👍🏼
Everyone looked so classy! From children to old people. Love the fashion of the 60s.

The way of wearing, and the way of being. All this is lost. Unfortunaly.
Thought the same...no badly dress people there..
Only 15 years after WW2. It‘s good to document the older times to compare. Thank you!

Ah man, to have visited it back then must have been so much nicer.
This was such a charming little slice of Parisian life. Thanks for posting!
I was 7 years old living in Prague.
Which is just as beautiful.
The toy sailboat at the end made me smile. I did that in Paris with my kids a few years ago, at Palais du Luxembourg.
Ohhhh the simplicity of life back then. We have completely lost how to enjoy life.

Paris was so much better in 1962 than in 2022!
Everything was because people respected other people.
The culture is totally different. Very few French people anymore.
@@eric_in_florida 1962 "accords d'Evian" . Because people of Paris respected people of Algeria so much ?

Amazing wish I was there.
So glad I've been up the Eiffel Tower twice
I've been up once but walked up..big mistake as it made me dizzy. I'm glad I've been up there though.
Beautifully restored
Stunning and the hey days.
Back then where everybody didn't need to take a photo of everything and just enjoyed the moment. Also because phones weren't invined back then
Magnifique 🥰👍
Hey!! I saw myself and my mom!!
Not really. 😉 We were there for the summer in 1960. I was 7.
Wow amazing work
Beautiful video thank you!! 💖💖💖
Looks like scout footage for the movie "Charade" circa '62.
I was there in '93, what a fantastic trip, that makes me want to find my video of...
Wow 👌🌹🌸😍🌟 qué magnífica bellísimo
Superb, just love these videos
No cellphones or kids on tablets, just good old people making eye contact, smiling, conversating and enjoying the view 😌

sixties. last time when fashion was really fashion, all people looked elegant and classy. before - poliester/fast fashion/leggins and abnegacy era 😊
Gorgeous
J'aurais aimé que ces vidéos soient plus longues.
Oui moi aussi
Ce sont des images choquantes ! Ou est la diversité qui a fait la France et sans qui ce pays ne serait qu’un autre pays du tiers monde ? 😇😂
la diversité détruit la France
La belle France 😊
I cannot wrap my mind around the fact that this was now 60 years ago.
Une manière d'être, de vivre, de s'habiller. Tout cela est perdu.
I need a jambon-Beurre now and it's your fault! ^___-
