- NASCAR has a long history of unwritten rules that drivers and teams often adhere to, but these can vary in interpretation and application. Breaking these unwritten rules can sometimes lead to controversy or clashes between drivers

What is your favorite moment in NASCAR when someone broke unwritten rules?
Whenever Kevin Harvick fucked Newman out of the 2014 championship by deflating his tires.
Harvick's window was comical
When Chase Elliott’s Jackman went over the wall to soon. No penalty was dealt, NASCAR said he reset himself when he ran all the way across the box and jump back on the wall. In past races and years that would have been a penalty. F&$@ NASCAR
Don't know, not from watching this video anyway because these were all written rules that were broken ffs
Dude. If u pass tech, make the grid, win the race. Pass post race tech. Nascar can't take you finishing position. Let the ennovators innovate
Yeah
It's how racing used to be
It’s hilarious how dumb your opinion is. 😂
If you have a movable aerodynamic device you can pass both texts and still be illegal because it's very clearly written into the rules that you cannot have movable aerodynamic devices
The rule book exists for a reason. Wanting people to get away with ignoring it is just another example of how childish society has become.
Unwritten rules are rules of sportsmanship and etiquette between competitors. These are either poorly understood rules or outright cheating.
Ross didn't "miss" that turn in Indy. His full intention from the very beginning was to cut the curve to get an advantage.
If you're going to add an escape road that drivers are allowed to use you've got to add a way to make sure it's not faster than following the course
Half of this video is rules that were clearly in the rulebook that people just blatantly disregarded
You gotta add Chad Knauss getting caught in the in car camera telling Jimmie that if he wins he has to crack the back of the car
Part 2
Rodney is an all-time great crew chief. Him and Everham knows how to wiggle around rules.
Yup
How is them getting easily caught cheating "knowing how to wiggle around rules"
@@dylan5398 They know where there are gaps
You forget 1 crew chief aka Chad k
@@johnhaas2523 I didn't name them all lol
NASCAR changes the rules from the beginning of the race to the end of a race. Won’t be long that NASCAR will build the cars and when the drivers get to the track they will be given a car.
Yeah
I'm just going to point this out because everyone seems to forget this, but Gordon was not the one who replaced Truex in the 2013 Chase, that was Ryan Newman. Gordon's inclusion as number 13 was the result of another controversy from that race involving Penske Racing and FRM.
Yep
“For trying to beat the pace car off” alrighty then
I would've black flagged every single car that went 4 tires outside of the curbing at Turn 1 at Watkin's Glenn. I know turning right is hard for Nascar folk, but you run this track EVERY YEAR. If the Intimidatot can set the pole around the Glen with one arm, the least you "professionals" can do is keep it in the curbs at the start.
if it's allowed, drivers will take every advantage they can. indycar at Cota. f1 at Bahrain. and these drivers turn right all the time. You're stupid to not use all the allowed track.
@@etrcentenario9737 But its not allowed, its a run off area, not part of the turn line, hence, the curb.

5:18 im ALL about free speech and rights....
but you are in an event with its own rules
.
if ya dont like the restrictions/rules NASCAR has..... quit....
make your own race sanctioning body.........
"Karen" Busch saying that nascar is going against freedom of speech is hilarious.
Yeah, freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from lap penalties. It's not government censorship
Kyle’s penalty for 1 lap was fine, (speeding) BUT the 2 lap penalty was stupid
Was it really? The dude's always been a hothead, he needed and ego check
Yep
@@skyraider87 The worst thing you can do to a hothead is ego check them lmao. It'll send them over a line they shouldn't cross 95% of the time
He showed an extreme lack of respect for officials just doing their job. Parking would have been my choice but two laps was still very costly.
I thought he was just confirming with the official if it was one lap or two?
How are these Unwritten rules? 90% of these are in the rule book.
it was unwritten when the rulebreaking happend
@@theratreal pretty sure most of these have to do with body modifications and body modifications is in the rule book and always has been.
@@scottrakes1622hahaha there was lots of gray area in any of the rules at one time and The rule book got thicker and thicker Because they kept having to add rules because of crew chiefs
I was a fan of NASCAR. However, i started to look at how petty NASCAR is and how they play favorites kinda made me lose interest.
I couldn’t finish the video because he kept talking about all the written rules being broken. No one is penalized by officials for breaking unwritten rules. You’re penalized by your opponents seeking revenge on you.
If you ain’t cheatin you ain’t winnin. This is just the way it is. It’s racing culture and has been for decades and decades.
I agree…NASCAR needs to leave them alone. It’s part of the heritage.
I stopped watching nascar because everyone cheats. If you cheat to win , you dont win
@@johntuffy5721 and the new confusing rules of paus in the race and what is chase or play offs?
Should do a video with rare forgotten moments in NASCAR
Great idea
Part 2
Spingate was the final nail in the coffin for MWR
Yup. Sponsors waltzed out of dodge instantly on that one.
@@saragrant9749 don't you mean out of toyota
@@blpadge2 lol touché
The irony is everyone knows the pic in the thumbnail, rodney said they were actually hit harder for something else entirely.
Yeah
I don’t understand how they can penalize something that isn’t against the rules. If you want to make a new rule, take the T-Rex car and haul melon route: ban it starting tomorrow
He said “with all due respect”… it’s in the Geneva Conventions.
Yep, Kurt "I Look Like Gomer Pyle" Busch is just a total effing a-hole. I can't stand him and love it when he loses and cheer when he wrecks.
I stopped watching years ago when it stopped being anybody's race.
You can’t have tape on your car to win races or you’ll be disqualified so idc if they even cry about it
This video is really the reason nascar has to much power. I think nascar should have what f1 has with the Stewart's when the nascar has the final word, it allows them to pick and choose when to enforce rules on certain cars. If you had former drivers as officials choosing when in race penalties are handed out, it takes Nascar out of it . Also, if you pass pre race inspection, it should be a fine or point loss not completely disqualified. I have stopped watching Nascar as much because the race doesn't matter. it's how Nascar decides to enforce rules.thst depicts the results
Yeah
So you’re ok with selective enforcement of the rules? That makes lots of sense… NOT.
@saragrant9749 how did my statement say that at all. Clearly your uneducated on how other racing series enforce rules and take the owner or government body out of the process that does not mean selective enforcement of rules. I would like to see your argument on how Nascar is not doing exactly what you said selective enforcement of rules
And that is one of the biggest reasons I totally hate NASCAR and used to watch all the time. Just a bunch of BS now.
Yeah
Being Penalized
"That's freedom of speech!" lol Kyle Bush sounds like a chump. Freedom of speech != Freedom of consequences, my good man.
The amount of unnecessary and over complication of rules is what drove fans away from NASCAR.
Yeah
How can putting a small piece of tape to the front of the car increase downforce?
It helps when air touches the car
It you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying to
it's not a rule when it's not written
What are you on about These are written rules you break the rules you get punished simple
If you break unwritten rules other drivers may get upset but your never getting a Penalty for it
NASCAR is a lot more stricter and harder on penalties if you get caught anymore aka disqualification
Where Should I Find This Clip 6:34
2006 Daytona Qualifying
Unwritten rules are not rules so there's no breaking imo
I never watched a NASCAR race. It doesn't get much coverage in Europe, but I always found it appealing. I understand that it isn't as "demanding and technical" as F1 or GT/DTM, but oval racing is definately the most exciting. And I am a Formula 1 fan since Häkkinen pulled that great overtake maneuver on Michael at Spa 2000.
I really have to start to pay more attention to North American racing.
It’s amazing
I'm another European, but i just hate f1
Kyle Buchs was such a crybaby, ill give him credit for being better now but nothing will excuse his actions in 2011 agains Hornaday. Wreck was 100% his fault and he wrecked him under caution. Don't now and will never like the guy, he only has one championship in my view.
Hey Andy, pretty original opinion, really meaningful seeing it for the fifteen thousandth time on TH-cam over the past 12 years!
In other words, the sky is blue and Kyle has 2 titles.
Define “unwritten” for me, please?
You are aware that "unwritten rule" means a rule that is... unwritten?
3:50 HUHHHH
I don't even watch racing anymore.....too many rules....and really not a fan of stages....I really couldn't even name a driver now...lol
Yeah
Being Cheating
😎😎😎😎😎😎
nascar is a joke. Just watch a race prior to 1990. Or watch a sprint car or midget race. Or perhaps a late model or modified race and you’ll see what I’m talking about. 😊
48 team was caught cheating so much during his 7 ships....its the only reason he won 7 times, and he shouldnt ever be in HOF....
It's not like Richard Petty didn't cheat big time or the late Junior Johnson or even DW. If you're not cheating you're not trying
No tape is a ridiculous rule. Is there a team that cant afford tape?
No tape rule has nothing to do with cost
@@johnhaas2523 I know
Kyle just being the biggest crybaby ever, should be stripped of EVERYTHING he's ever won and banned from racing forever.
He is NASCAR's equivalent to Lewis Hamilton in F1 🤷♂️
Overrated as a driver too
you have the shittiest takes ive EVER seen
he broke his leg and WON THE 2015 CHAMPIONSHIP
THAT IS INSANE
you think he cried alot? get ready for this next wave of rookie "phenoms" and their baggage
@@rcguy902 spot on!!
Nah
I hâte busch family but he was right he can sue them for penalize him over that finger
No, he can't. Has nothing to do with the first amendment.
