Van Dijk was in the premier league for 8 years, not 3 (minus one for his injury but still the majority of this time period he was there). Was world class at Southampton which explains why Liverpool smashed their transfer record for him and then went on to win everything at Liverpool. The fact he's not in the top 5 in this list is embarrassing.

The way people talk about Hazard you would think he’s on Messi’s level. With players like Hazard, people are very prone to comparing him, on his day, to the average game of someone like Salah. Yes Hazard on his day is unbelievable, but Salah on his day can get you 3/4 goals in one game. It’s just Salah is so consistent so people don’t feel the need to say ‘on his day.’

This is a debate about the decade, and this is literally kanes decade, his first season was 13/14 and he’s still improving, this man has 213 pl goals in that time, meaning he’s average over 20 goals a season for the entire decade

Hazard is better than Salah, Hazard had a way bigger impact on Chelsea winning their titles than Salah did, and although Salah did have better stats, Hazard does better on the eye test and is a more skilled player who links up play rather than finishing chances
The one stat that wasn't mentioned about hazard, is that hazard had the most MOTM awards until last season where Kane passed him.
But,
Kane has 301 starts - 68 MOTM
Hazard only had 222 starts- 62 MOTM
Kane has been deserving of motm in every spurs win though the only reason they dont give him it is because its unfair

Just for reference that's 5/7 years at chelsea he was nominated for the POTY award. Also has the most MOTM awards in the premier league since 2004. My guys had him at 5 and 6 🤢

Having individual better seasons does not mean your the best player in the season hazard has been the best player in the league bar 15/16. For example last season haaland and Kane had better individual seasons than kdb but everyone knows kdb is the best player in the league right now.

But two things that make it weird is that he doesn't have any major trophies - I know trophies are a team achievement but it's almost self inflicted because when Kane was playing in these big games (I.E champions league final, world cup semis, Euros final), he never performed.

Dont understand where this narrative about Hazard being inconsistent has come from. He didnt take 2 seasons off. He was here for 7 years and had 1 awful season right in the middle. But 12/13, 13/14, 14/15, 16/17, 17/18 and 18/19 he was unbelievable. MOTM awards dont lie. That shows how consistent he was. Gets so underrated because he wasn't just a goalscorer. The guy would pick the ball up from deep areas, beat 3 players and lay it off to a teammate because he was selfless. That's the hardest thing to do in football. If Messi didn't score as many goals as he does he'd still be world class because he's a playmaker as well as a goalscorer. That's how people should be looking at Hazard. Dribbles completed, progressive passes, chances created etc. He gets compared to Salah who's a completely different type of player and gets disrespected because of it. And people ignore the context of the team he played in too. No way that Chelsea side wins anything without him. Take him out the team and everyone plays worse. @louiswebb581 they're two completely different players. No one's saying Salah can't dribble. But he doesn't do what Hazard did. Hazard would pick the ball up from deep areas in transition and beat three players. He'd play flicks and run into space to break down defences. None of that translates to G+A and he can't be in two places at once at the end of the chances he's creating. Obviously Salah can dribble but he's doing it in areas that translate to direct goal involvements so he gets loads more credit. When people say Hazard can dribble, playmake etc that isn't bringing Salah down. I agree though that Salah's not had an off season yet. That's the main thing I'd say he has in his favour. But I'd still say Hazard's the better player other than that off season. For me it's like if Messi scored 1 in 3 rather than 1 in 1 that's Hazard. And I'd still say a player like that is better than Salah even if Salah is scoring 1 in 2.

The revision on hazard stinks…this he wasnt consistent/numbers weren’t good enough is absolutely ridiculous. The only off season he had was 15/16 which the whole chelsea team were bad bar willian and zouma (when fit). He had 4 pfa team of the seasons…should have had 5 (got left out in his last season which ironically he had the best numbers of his premier league career). People who use the whole number arguments need to remember CONTEXT IS KEY…his numbers were always the best or 2nd best on chelsea. He played under defensive coaches until literally his last season where he absolutely blew up with numbers. Our title winning seasons under mourinho and conte…we weren’t blowing teams away all the time and weren’t free flowing and scoring…we were defensive solid powerhouses…our main striker only hit 20 flat in both our title winning seasons. His best teammates were diego costa and willian/older pedro. He wasnt playing with agueros and salahs and sterling/sane/manes. He was the only goal threat other than costa. His conversion rate was actually elite at the time in comparison with even ronaldo and messi when it came to shots vs goals. I think also every forgets that hazards numbers for goal contributions vs the top 6 is absolutely insane…don’t believe just go look yourself. Hazard was there 7 seasons. He had one down season where he was carrying an injury. I don’t think we finish 10th were it not for that. He was carrying that chelsea attack for years and way above its level. Hazard 17/18 was insane. He was as good as Salah and as good as KdB. Stop looking at his G/A.
Salah has done it for SIX seasons in a row… KDB has had seasons off where he’s had large periods out with injury and City have managed fine without him still winning the league (18/19 comes to mind)

"Hazard wasn't consistent" has most motm awards outside of Messi and Ronaldo in the 2010s. He didn't "take two seasons off", he went into one year injured with leg issues that was bothering him and after January when Chelsea finally rested him, started willian and Pedro for a month or two, he came back healthy and had like 10 goal contributions in the last 8 games of the season. Hazard was the best player in the prem for the last 4 years of his time there, and was top 5 from the moment he stepped foot into the league, with an exception solely for first half of the season he was injured. KDB can be argued however he's relied upon incredibly less than hazard ever was. How many city players were named as just around the top 10-15 mark? Mahrez, Gundogan, both Silvas, Aguero a little higher up...Chelsea had Hazard and one good supporting cast on offense his entire career there basically. Cesc and Diego costa were the only relevant premier league star caliber guys he played with in attack. Blasphemous to not have the guy top 3 at worst

The thing with injuries is that it sucks and freak injuries happen, but when you constantly get injured, then idk, i just feel like we can judge you base on your prime, but you won’t make any top lists just because of your unreliability.
