Whenever I tag along with you on one of your videos I feel like I’m really in the car with ya’ll and seeing all of that in person. I can’t wait to move there and thrive! Thank you Cartess. (sorry that realtor lady stood you guys up)
I really enjoy your videos. You show what life in Mexico is really like. The best part is when you drive around to all these different towns. I enjoy it when you drive around these small place towns. Where the real Mexican people are living, not just expats. Most expats are afraid to go around the neighborhoods where Mexican families live. That is what I enjoy most about your videos, you show the real Mexico. Not that expat bubble that people are living in. I'm not quite sure what the lady is talking about. I don't think you're putting down your wife. You were joking with your family and there's nothing wrong with that. It's nice to see a family together. And there's nothing wrong with joking and being happy riding around with your wife and your daughters. It's nice to see a black male spending time with his family. And I don't think anything 's wrong with you having joking with your wife and your daughters. It reminds me of when I was a little girl and my father used to drive the family around on Sunday to visit all our relatives. I'm 59 now and when I think back on those days, those were the happiest times of my life because the family was together, and we were laughing and joking. When your daughters are older, they'll think back to those times and remember that you spent time with them. They will cherish those memories. Keep up the good work.
I appreciate your kind words... Thank u. I'll keep making more local stuff type videos outside of the expat bubble. In regards to the other comment the other person made ... Folks seem to get so triggered nowadays ... In our house, we banter, tease and joke back and forth all day ... That's why it comes across so casually on video because it's 'us' in our normal element being ourselves... Everyone is so uptight and offended by everything nowadays to the point they're offended by how we do things in our own house, lol ... It's challenging trying to appease and please everyone. I get harassed for traveling abroad with my children (apparently, some think it's irresponsible to take children out of the US). Other folks harass me for 'home schooling' my kids. Others give me a hard time because I share to much of our private life online (kids illnesses, my illnesses, our marriage, etc...). We have decided to open up our lives to the world to share what its like to live abroad and when we made that decision, it included sharing the good, the bad, the fun and the boring; which is why i don't edit videos 98% of the time. No matter what we do someone is offended, bothered or triggered... I appreciate feedback of course, but my oh my ... We've been harassing my wife about the way she drives for 25 years (all the tickets she's accumulated over the years are staggering -- she really can't drive, LOL)
My husband I want to thank you and your family for being transparent and for your thoroughness of Mérida. We are looking to plan to visit to Guadalajara and Mexico City, God willing, in July. We always look at your videos to see the beauty of Merida and how it could fit our family of 8. We like to be near the water. Thank you and keep making it happen.
Thanks for taking us along; this was a good video to workout to. The first three places were absolutely no gos for me. I think that you deserve to be comfortable in your home environment. Cutting corners on comfort for a few dollars could lead one to be miserable. I will work ten extra hours to afford to pay for my comfort level. I don't mind living in the hood as long as my spot is an oasis and I feel safe.
Oww wee I was having anxiety with that driving. Thought I was going to get car sick. 😂 Was she running stop signs at first? And driving fast..lordy. Awesome towns. The modern builds are more my style.
😂😂😂😂 she was running stop signs, red lights, stalling in the middle of intersections and a whole host of other things, lo... While swearing she's a good driver 😂😂😂
Hey Cartess 🙋🏾♀️ New subscriber here. Question: Is there a time of day (or week) when the traffic is tolerable (slower paced)? Just wondering if there are small opportunities to adjust to the driving patterns of the country (area). Thanks for all you do! 👍🏾
Hi, I am new to your channel, love watching I have to agree with everyone I like the last house that you looked at it had practically everything that you wanted and convenience as far as shopping right across the street. Hey but can you take the noisy traffic
For the 2nd house you could do an above ground pool and service room make an office. The 3rd one was in a nice community. But the unit was older and dated. Only 1 bathroom and it was "heavy/dark" paint and wood.
Merida reminds me of a large rural area of America and the UK, but you will run into a clustered town here or there. It's kinda like the country a little bit. 🙂
Hi. Good information. Hopefully you will get the hang of filming these apts. You move the camera too fast and enough close up. We can’t see. Thanks good luck
Wow ❗ I just checked the exchange rate form dollar to peso is $16.70: 1. What!??? I was complaining when it dropped to $18:1! That's significant. Will it go back up?
🤣I thought it was just me with that first house, lol. Kim got it right. That house looked depressing, lol. Or should I say, it was "rustic", lol. And then that "privada" house at about the 1 hour mark looked even a bit more "rustic", lol. And they were trippin' askin' that 13,000 pesos. But I guess if it is larger, then it will be a higher prices. And for reference for people who aren't familiar with measurements of square meters, 600 square meters is just over 6,450 square feet! That is HUGE! I liked the lsat house you toured the best. How much would it cost to have an AC unit installed? Maybe you can negotiate a lower rent in exchange for paying to have a unit installed in the living room? Then the cost could be a wash if you spread it out over the course of a year. If you stay longer, then you get to continue enjoying the AC in the living room.
I should have been saying 600 square meters (you are correct), and that's for the total space (house and the property the house sits on too). Sometimes I get 'brain freeze', lol
If you don't have your own vehicle could you ride with the realtor or would it be better to just call an Uber and ask if they're willing to take you to all the properties?
Greetings!! I really am interested in moving or at least visiting Mexico but everyone around me looks at me crazy and say it’s too dangerous, not safe. What would you say to that?
Once they get a contract, he agreed to add 3 a/c to all 3 bedrooms. I'd have to get my own a/c installed outta pocket for the living room if i wanted one down there. For 8500/mo, I'd do it. This one is still on my list.Keeps my costs drastically low and gives me an extra room and more space than i have now, where I pay 12,500. My Uber bill would drop since my kids friends are all up in this area. So it ain't completely off my list

Agreed. It's super nice but price just ain't right without the pool. It was significantly larger than all the other houses combined lol
@belltowndaisy True. Too far away (kids like that 'city life' too much and the uber rides would be costly for them getting back and forth.
cash machines redily available? Is that the case in Merida? Are they safe (single older female) to go in and out of ???
Can you please show how far you are from the ocean.
Depending on where you live in Merida, the beach can be 25-minutes away (from the North side where I live). From "Centro", can be 45-55 minutes.
What was the cost of the last house?
