I like y’all! I’m moving from Oklahoma eventually! I’m selling three of my investment houses and I’ll need someone there. I sold here for 25+ years! I took a screen shot of your info! ❤ When I say eventually I mean I’m hoping by the end of the year!

Don’t forget the great surf fishing! We’re summer tourists in orange beach area but thinking of retiring there one day. Good video.

One thing realtors fail to mention is that Alabama has a big state income tax that comes directly out of your paycheck. We don't have state income tax in Florida or Texas. When you factor that into the cost of living it erases the low property tax. That's like adding 5k or more to your property tax depending on your salary. Also the sales tax is really high and the salaries are some of the lowest in the country.

You're absolutely right! It's not the cheapest to live here but it can be significantly cheaper compared to Austin, Los Angeles, NY, Chicago, etc.. Keep watching more videos, we talk about that all the time! The cost of living here compared to those places are still super low but not the lowest and we don't expect them to be. You get a lot of amenities with our small southern charm at the same time. Definitely best of both worlds in our opinion. Thanks for watching! 😊

@@LivingInLowerAlabama I know. I have lived all over. So far NY was the cheapest, yes NY. People think the entire state of NY is like NYC. Completely wrong. Homes are half the cost. College and healthcare are free. The jobs pay double. Walmart warehouse starts at 25 bucks an hour. When you average it all out NY is dirt cheap. NYC is just one spot. Same with Chicago. That is just one city in the state. I still have family in Illinois that live cheap. I will be coming to Alabama with cash and my wife works remote so none of the things I mentioned before apply to me but will to most. The realestate where I live in Floroda went up over 50 percent, that is the only reason I would buy in Alabama. We have more sunny days per year and way better beaches. Siesta Key is ranked number 1 and Venice number 2. I live between both. The problem is that a shack now costs 450 to 500k. 2 years ago that shack was 220k. I see the homes are sitting and coming down in Baldwin. That's what makes it appealing plus it reminds me of Dallas in the 80s where I grew up. As far as comparing a place like Baldwin County to LA, that's apples to oranges. LA county alone has 2.5 times the amount of residents that the entire state of Alabama has.

...Orange Beach, Gulf Shores are very nice, BUT not the Florida coastline, the beaches, "water" are nicer as you proceed east down the coastline into Florida. The cities just north, as you noted "Foley" are Ghetto!, Foley does have the Walmart's etc., it's NOT the beach area, and the motels are horrible, just check out the reviews....you did not mention Fairhope which is most desirable community north of the beach. The "Pink Pony" is overrated, the "Hangout" is not user friendly to "elders" during the summer. It's a very small region on the beach that is beautiful, but again NOT the Florida coastline....

@@LivingInLowerAlabama Pensacola Beach in Florida also has sand fleas that BITE on their beaches while I've never had that problem in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. "Ghetto Foley" has average looking houses going for around $400,000 now and plenty of more expensive houses so while there are some run down areas of Foley there are a LOT more nice areas. My only beef with the Hangout is they can't seem to sell cold beer from most of their taps inside (I've heard their outside taps work better). I like the Flora-Bama better but technically that is mostly in Florida...

@@NOLAGent1 My family has been vacationing in Gulf Shores for 20 years. We did have an issue with sand fleas one time. We had to use OFF to be able to sit out on the beach. Thank goodness it only happened the one time but we won't ever forget it. Those little pests hurt.
