Every film always gets the meeting of John and Yoko wrong -- at least in terms of hair and makeup. John was just coming off of filming How I Won the War and would have had short hair. Yoko also says that he hadn't shaved. So I believe her when she says she didn't recognize him. I do NOT believe her when she says she didn't know who the Beatles were, and this scene certainly seems to support the idea that she did know of them. I think she was just trying to stress that they weren't her scene, so she wasn't that familiar with them.
@@Kieop according to some sources, she had actually met John earlier. She had come to England for an art show which was organised by Brian Epstein. Brian had a party at his house to welcome her and that's where they met for the first time. John later said that the song "Girl" was about Yoko, but if they didn't meet until 66, then how did he write a song about her when they hadn't met yet? Paul has also stated that she had pursued both of them, initially coming to Paul's house asking for manuscripts for his songs. If that's true then she must have known who The Beatles were. It could be true what you're saying, that she didn't recognise John because of his different look, but I don't think there's any way that she didn't know who The Beatles were.
