Handy utility knife, would love to know model. Does it work pretty well to harvest several other veggies? I have a set of pruners but they seem to always get rusty. How do you prevent animals from eating the lettuce?

We have a seasonal wildlife conference with all the nearby animals. They agree to the conditions that if we give them something else to eat, they won't mess with the garden. So far so good.

Just cut the plant a few inches above the soil and it will grow back.

Make sure you put down a good pre-plant fertilizer prior to putting transplants in the bed.

Sometimes it will grow back a little. But we usually just plant more.
