As a Michigander; I can respect your collective opinions. Faygo and Better Made chips were a big part of my childhood budgeting during the summer. In fact the hot dog stand at my local Home Depot has a $3 combo that includes Faygo, Better Made and a hot dog. Thanks for trying them anyways!

Representing Michigan here as well. Faygo is way underrated 24oz bottles for 99 cents can't be beat. Moon Mist is way better then Mountain Dew. Rock n Rye is red pop and cream soda and the best mixer for Captain Morgan ever!!! Sadly I just moved to Chicago and I can't find Faygo at all but weirdly its very popular in the south especially in Alabama.

Rock and Rye was traditionally a rye whiskey with rock candy inside of the bottle. The rock candy was typically infused with horehound which is an herb good for sore throats.
Typically you would make hot toddys with this type of whiskey.

Yea, I'm from southeast Michigan and everyone drinks Faygo, do i know why? No. Do i ask why? Nope. We all drink it. My grandpa drinks Faygo cola every single day of his life, he walks down to the Kroger close by and buys a Faygo. Its like a thing everyone just respects here, same with Better Made Chips.
I'm from Berkley, MI. My dad would buy mostly Faygo to drink. It wasn't until my teenage years when my dad told me that Faygo & Better Made chips were from Detroit

The only flavor better IMO than Peach is Kiwi Strawberry but thats something of a rarity, at least in these parts.
Peach is the BEST one ever!! That is what I get everytime I find Faygo.... which isn't often living in Colorado, but when I go home to Indiana I get it everytime!! Tastes like you bite into a SUPER ripe peach!! Amazing pop!!

As a non-MI'er and being used to seeing Faygo in just a few stores, yeah, it's an off-brand. Cheerwine may be local to me, but in the big picture, it's an off-brand as well. I don't take it personally, though.

Anything associated with ICP is off brand.
I live in Michigan too and when I was a kid, this is mainly what we drank at birthday parties. It's also cheaper than some of the other pops, so you could buy a ton of it and not break the bank. I love Rock n Rye, but a lot of the flavors are really good. They even have their own versions of Cola, Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, etc.

For me to get a bottle of faygo. Today, in NH, I'd have to drive an 1 1/2 hours to a small store only open in the summer. I used to be able to walk in any convent store, but I guess the new England distributor got shut down or something.

From growing up on the Detroit / Hazel Park border, i grew up with faygo, and honestly grape wasnt my favorite. But rock and rye was the 2nd best in my opinion. Cream soda was my jam! But now its the Candy Apple or centennial edition when it comes around.

All orange sodas have brominated vegetable oil and ester of wood rosin. The rosin ester I think is where the orange citrus fragrance comes from
It's purpose is mainly to keep the citrus oil consistently blended into the soda (water). If it wasn't in the soda the citrus oil would separate from the water.
