My little brother came to watch every time I touched my computer, just to see if I was going to play Garry’s mod. He got it eventually in 2018 he bought it. I always tell him that the you tubers he watched play the game are all like married, have jobs, and are just different now. I wish I had shown him more about the game but being a teenager at the time I couldn’t be arsed. Just nostalgia lads, sorry for the rambling.

Yeah, this has some errors. Source, the HL2 engine was always used for gmod, not goldsource like HL1. The mod you showed at the start is a recreation mod. And gmod 10 was released somewhere between 2009-2011 I believe.

I had just gotten my first laptop at 12, and I immediately got garry's mod, tf2, l4d, and css
since all my friends at school talked about them, and my life hasn't been the same since.
Garry's mod is closest to me since I grew up watching kitty0706. RIP to a legendary film maker.

the first clip is not the real start of Garry's mod, it was actly a addon for Half Life 1. (Garry's Mod only had the Physics Gun in Half life 2, even not that, you just has a crossbow that shoots strings and welds stuff togther! )

It's so nice to see GMod be heavily mod friendly to really let people let their creativity wild. It could have just been a sandbox game that doesn't want mods.
I mean, if it started as a mod, it only makes common sense for the developers to respect mods, because without them the game wouldn't exist.

2019: no one plays gmod (instead only dark rp with a lot of kids, that are not playing their roles correctly), i'm feeling sorry for gmod, because its a quite good game with billions of good gamemods and opportunities and its so fucked up with the community, based on stupid kids who enjoy to play dark rp over all other gamemods, like deathrun, cinema (i liked that one a lot, enjoyed spending a time with friends, watching serials and so on), jailbreak (this one is actually not completely dead, but still) a lot of those servers with theese gamemods are dead now, i really miss 2014-2016, because it's been a golden two years of Garry's mod
If you're looking for a server not filled with as much cancerous kids and also enjoy HL2RP and CC then I recommend NHN for CC. It's a pretty fun RP based game mode with players that aren't usually toxic

The problem with other gamemodes for GMod Is the ping...were i live i can have 3 servers with good ping and 100 with More than 200...its sad ;-;
I just enjoy clone wars Dark RP with my friends in a server our friend owns, it’s the most fun I’ve ever had in a game in my life, I’ve made so many memories and so many amazing friends, and after events we just chill, play prop hunt or TTT and just watch movies and stuff and talk about maps and content packs. Can’t wait for the game to get ported to source 2

Man, Gmod for me is considered one of the best games of the history, I mean, you can do anything, no matter what is it, GMOD is infinite, infinite possibiliteis, minigames, multiplayer, Addons, these kind of stuff, Thanks Valve for this amazing game...
Well i'd say you should stay off of multiplayer. And no it's not because i'm one of those people that are like: MuLtYpLaYeR iS gArBaGe SiNgLePlAyEr 4 LiFe. It's because the gmod community is fucking awful at times. ESPECIALLY in multiplayer.

I used to play this all the time. Though sadly my computer broke and I haven’t been able to get it fixed or get a new once since. Not to mention losing the password and email so I had to make a entirely new steam account. Only regret was loosing Garry’s Mod. I’ll miss you old friend.

Garry's mod is always gonna be one of my favorite games of all time! I played it ever since I was around 6 or 8 years old and it has had such an great impact on me
I have over 3000 hours in this game, incredible how it never got boring
I remember watching the ZOMG TH-cam group playing Garry’s Mod, I was always so excited to watch them play it and I was hoping to one day play it myself. Which I eventually did and I’ve loved Gmod ever since.
