IBARAKI "KAGUTSUCHI" LYRICS
(Featuring Paolo Gregoletto)
We watched the world - it burned away
And from the ash, we found release
We brought your kind down to it's knees
No longer bound, now finally free
Have you beheld the grace of your lord?
Withstand this hell: the you endured
I am the traitor, behold my "disease"
Not held down by your belief in deceit
You are a slave but bound to a word
The root of all pain we know in this world
Open your eyes now and proclaim defeat
Don't waste further life, renounce and repeat
Renounce and repeat
Isolation from the manipulation
Of the followers
Followers of the greatest illusion
Isolation from the manipulation
Of the followers
Congregation of noughts
Tyrant burn
On the stake from which he turned
To the undead Tyrant burn On the stake from which he turned But a dead man
Your fields are burning, your villages sacked
Halls of the holy - no longer in tact
Somehow despite what has come to be
You still cling on - to what you can't see
You're not a victim, not ruling with love
You rule with fear; a tyrant thereof
Hypocrite - fester, your righteousness rots
You mask your will by what a "god" wants
What a "god" wants
Isolation from the manipulation
Of the followers
Followers of the greatest illusion
Isolation from the manipulation
Of the followers
Congregation of noughts
Tyrant burn
On the stake from which he turned
To the undead
Tyrant burn
On the stake from which he turned
But a dead man
Take all you've done to me
Open your eyes and see
Soon we'll become the last ones
Waiting for night to come
Take all you've done to me
Open your eyes and see
Soon we'll become the last ones
Waiting for none above
I feel it changing
Cut out my heart with a knife
I feel it hating
Pull me closer
Holding me back from the world
Bass Solos: Paolo Gregoletto
I feel it changing
Cut out my heart with a knife
I feel it hating
Pull me closer
Holding me back from the world
I feel it changing
Cut out my heart with a knife
I feel it hating
Pull me closer
Holding me back from the world
We watched the world - it burned away
And from the ash, we found release
We brought your kind down to it's knees
Have you now seen what I have seen?
We watched the world - it burned away
And from the ash, we found release
We brought your kind down to it's knees
No longer bound, now finally free

The song "Kagutsuchi" is a very important one in the project's history.
"'Kagutsuchi' is the turning point in my relationship to black metal," says Kiichi. "Before crafting this piece, I believed I needed to stick to all the tropes of tradition - I didn't believe that I was able to attach my name to keep something legitimately black metal."
He continues, "Befriending Ihsahn and having him as a mentor showed me that being true to oneself is far more important than being true to a genre. Ihsahn freed my mind and encouraged the sharpening of the tools needed to begin Ibaraki properly."
Kiichi finishes, "The very recorded guitar tracks in this final album are actually from 2010/2011. This album is an auditory time-capsule of my journey in creating Ibaraki. 'Kagutsuchi' was the first song I wrote after I had begun my tutelage under Ihsahn."
"Kagutsuchi" features a guest bass solo by Trivium's Paolo Gregoletto.
#Ibaraki #BlackMetal #Metal #NuclearBlast #Ihsahn #Emperor #Trivium #MattHeafy - เพลง
I don't care what anyone says about this. It's literally the best thing I've ever heard from Heafy and beyond what I'd expected. I'm so much happier he made this his own thing rather than trying to pander to black metal purists. It won't get as big as Trivium, but I don't think it should either. This is art in the medium of music and I wish more and more musicians would branch out like this and am so happy Matt decided to.
Also! I love that he chose a Japanese theme rather than going with something Scandinavian. It's just really unique shit and I can't stop watching this lol
Not Black Metal
@@undisputedattitude2902 “I’m so much happier he made this his own thing rather than trying to pander to black metal purists”
You should try also a great band named Iden Gakusha they have kinda the same vibe
@@anthonywest5992 I don't understand why black metal even needed to enter the conversation. Nothing about Trivium or this new thing is black metal. What am I missing here?
@@JasonEllingsworth because black metal is what the project started off intentions of being, but that changed over the ten years period. That’s what he was saying about it and that’s how I took it, but who knows, maybe I’m wrong about something
This album is fantastic. Hope we get a video for Ibaraki-Dōji
That transition and calm verse has such strong "Opeth - Damnation" vibes. Amazing, well done!
Exactly what I was thinking
I think I'm even hearing a bit of a Morningrise vibe when Paolo comes in too!
felt the same here
@@Limulouse Enjoy! Anything Opeth is great :D
Completely ripped off opeth on the opening, even down to how the vocals are done, pathetic. Go return to trash trivium
Is easy to recognize the Ihsahn' spirit in all structures. He is a genius of production. Matt make the best decision.
Really like this style of (clean) singing from Matt. Was totally unexpected when I first heard it on Nergals "Me and that man" project ("You will be mine", for anyone interested) and if I hadn't read it I would have never guessed it. Probably my favourite song so far from this record (have not listened to the full record, only the singles so far).
Just listened to the full album and I have to say Matt.. as a long time Trivium fan from the Ember/Ascendancy days I genuinely think this is the most amazing thing you have made in your life time.
The artistic choices that blended together for this album in all its haunting, gothic, melancholic, powerful and beautiful destructive nature is such a welcome breath of fresh air to metal.
Thank you so much for this masterpiece Matt and anyone that helped bring this to life!
Absolute banger. The metal world needs more bands like Ibaraki. Well done!!
finally the most anticipated sequel to 2008's Shogun is here 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Literally nothing like Shogun 😂
You been smoking crack dude?
@@nemesis8626 bro ikr, thank god it doesn’t suck 😂
A shogun is not a ninja.
Matt has Japanese heritage so it be a samurai.
Don't read the comments. It's supporters of the sound, then there's the "TrVe KvLt BlAcK mEtAl" gatekeepers. Guess they're done roleplaying as lame warriors in the forest and now choosing to try and roleplay as someone who believe their opinions are important. 😆
Yo... hasn't Matt Heavy been doing this for a long time with Trivium and whatnot? Will that man's brain slow down the creative juices? This is just wow!!! Way to fight and claw your way to the top of Mt. Metal sir!!!! Blessed to listen to your work for years and many more to come!!!!!
Matt, once again you're proving how creative and skillful you are.
This is one of your best records to date, no doubt.
I live in Ibaraki Prefecture.
It is a very scary countryside demon lawless prefecture.
Eat natto, a prefectural food.
The natto devil attacks you every night.
I didn’t know that the Feudal era had bangers! 10/10 dudes
this is hands down the best album and chorus matt has ever done
ISOLATION
This album makes me want to become a samurai. Foresee myself listening to this album on repeat for God knows how long. Great album!
Listen Ikigai from Abiotic 👌
Or Winds.of Plague .
Decimate the Weak
Got the cover Samurai as tattoo on sleeve
Pure Art!! WTF it is getting harder and harder to listen to bands or artists trying to create something different in music, this is EPIC!!
Any Band with an Album entitled RASHOMON deserves utter respect.
People say this sounds like Trivium and I don't see that at all lol. This is something different entirely. It just so happens to feature the front man of Trivium.
Trivium + Dream Theater + Opeth + Japan
wow. just wow
This song sounds just like Opeth in their prime
Matt just can't stop outdoing himself
This album is a true masterpiece
wtf man matt sounds like a screaming 12 year old kid here
@@wesleygeofferson5171 it's his live technique imagine if he finished the whole album back in 2011 when he started writing
@@tfwnoyandere it's a studio recording, why do the live technique here? why cant he just admit that he cant sing or scream
i think these cleans are good still if only he would have kept to singing only and had someone else cover the screaming if it was even a necessary addition
@@tfwnoyandere you should see his twitcvh streams, it's even worse haha he says he does "nasal" screams like wtf just stop singing
KAGUTSUCHI is FIRE GOD🇯🇵
I'm impressed how well shamisen and koto fits the mix, well done!
This album gives me ghost of tsushima vibes, its so epic
That game is a masterpiece, and this is the perfect soundtrack for it.
In another universe Jin Sakai is The Ghost Of Trivium!
@@bensunnyisaac For me Ghost Of Tsushima is still the best game on Playstation so far and For the second place is Spiderman Insomniac.
@@ZERO-X79 you need to play Bloodborne.
@@bensunnyisaac You should try Sekiro
Oh wow, Heafy has been watching a lot of Kurosawa films. I love it! xD
I just listened to this just because it was in my feed and it seemed like a cool name for a band. I listened to the song and it blew me away. I didn't even know it was Matthew from Trivium until after I finished looking at the video. I've never been a fan of Trivium, but I'm a fan of Ibaraki. Nice going Matthew! I have a new found respect for you as a song writer.
I can´t stop my bushi nerd inside and I ´m gonna say that katana grip is wrong. Yeah, who cares I know. But matt´s origins and the name of the band make me to say it. Ha.
The album is a masterpiece, this and Trivium's latest album, the music Matt is creating right now is career defining 🔥🔥🔥
Outstanding album!
WAKE UP SAMURAI. WE HAVE A CITY TO BURN!
Loved so much this album. Just amazing
Thank you Yoda
@@LouisWinthorpe622😂😂😂
Si a todo lo que haga Matt Heafy tremendo señor
Welcome to a new age for metal!!! Awesome!!!
Well done, love the evolution of black metal you have done here
Who performs the drums for this? They sound very Alex Bent-ish (which is perhaps the greatest compliment possible for a drum track)
is Alex himself, beast of a drummer
@@Lv.gtr.exe99 nice!. Seems I would recognize his work anywhere xD
@@ravciozo7517 Alex is a brutal drummer, but also fan of a lot of chill genres like jazz and groove, you can hear in a lot of trivium and ibaraki
@@thebullet437 I didn't know it, but nice to hear it. Just as Syn Gates brings some gypsy jazz inspiration to A7X :D
You are hands down my favourite musician
Parece um Trivium diferente ...
Faço de suas palavras, as minhas.
Solid album! Musically creative, and heavy! This project is a fantastic response to how toxic the black metal community is and metal elitism as a whole. Matt wanted to do this album for more than a decade but didn’t due to the potential backlash from the elitists. You can tell just by listening to this album that he was intent on writing this record. Brilliant post black metal and a fascinating evolution for metal. Much love, Matt!
Now I want to play ghost of Tsushima 😁
ISOLATION FROM THE MANIPULATION
This part is catchy AF
The whole album is a masterpiece
I am blown away by this. You can hear the work in this. It has paid off, because it is excellent! The cleans are so satisfying.
Samurai Black Metal with a damask Blade. 666 X 🤟. Thanx for this Album
Not black metal at all
@@hugostiglitz5798 Nuclear Blast itself classifies the Band as #BlackMetal, man.Wake up
@@leonardomattarmonteiro2824 LOL because they think it is, then it is? Please...anyone who knows black metal knows this is not black metal
I fucking love this song
I love those features of Japan!
I just love Matthews clean singing. Way more than the typical metal yelling/ growling vocals. The clean vocals are just so much more nuanced.
I'm totally agree! I love him clean vocal! it's so perfect!
Isnt that Ihsahn tho :D
@@jaccob73 no, Ihsahn does the guitar sections along with Matt (I think)
this is the best Matt's clean era
Once again, Sir Matt Heafy outdid himself. The entire record is a work of love, but this video specifically is on point. Great aesthetics, visuals... Reminded me a lot of those Samurai stories and movies.
Thank you Matt for reminding us not to be ashamed of our culture (whatever it is) and teaching us how to properly embrace it. Such a solid start to IBARAKI and a strong AOTY candidacy. All I have to say regarding the album is... Arigato gozaimasu. Thank you for once again redefining the boundaries of Metal. You nailed it!!
those guys just went full Blackwater Park and i automatically love this song, this band, everything
Shogun: "This isn't even my final form"
In another universe Jin Sakai is The Ghost Of Trivium!
Third track I've binged in a row (after the Nergal and Gerard way ones) I think this is a cd for the car .... Damn fine Mr Heafy . Damn fine sir . Shades of Opeth with the cleans .
Great🔥Love the aesthetics🔥🔥
The album is good, but definitely not what I had imagined when I first heard he was doing a black metal album with Ihsahn. Sounds very much like a Trivium album Matt got to experiment on a bit more than normal
Based on this song anyway I wouldn't really call it black metal, yeah. Instrumentally its like experimental black metal. But the vocals are basically metalcore. Its fine though, because the music is pretty damn good.
No way like Trivium....more technical...much better
@@nickreid5939 it does sound like trivium, it literally is trivium, just with different name
Took this album for me to finally wake up 👁️
I will always be a fan of matt heafy.
It's a good song, not sure what about it would be black metal. Seems more prog than anything.
Is he matt heafy?
Yes
Powerful sound!
Certified Gold!!!!!
This is the best song I've ever heard in years. It's a fucking masterpiece
Oh yeah Daddy show me them tattoos 😂
3:26 i'm shocked 😭😭🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘
Best song of the album by far
Nevermore/Jeff Loomis vibes
THe Chorus reminds me of Nevermore in the best ways.
I didn’t think I would like this song but this song sounds good as hell!!!! I have never heard of this band before either?!?!?!????
New solo project by Matthew Heafy of Trivium.
Kind of solo, It’s Matt Heafy + Ishahn of emperor on production and writing
Damn Dwayne Johnson got really introspective in this music video...
great song, lyrics and video
Matt ❤❤🤘
His screams sound a lot like August burns red
I would absolutely love this if it wasn't for the vocals.
4:21 reminds me of sylosis from the edge of the earth alot, really beautiful!
Beautifil
Ok, MAJOR older Opeth vibes from the cleaner part in the middle. Sounds great!
誤認甚だしいが、他国からみればこんなものか。
The chorus remembers me of Nevermore.
Nevermore vibes in chorus :)
wow
Big Opeth vibes, into it!
This song is stuck in my head, which is quite an achievement, considering its complexity and diversity.
Heafy plays $7000 guitars - But flea market sword in the video.
But naw, this is pretty great.
Not black metal. But it is good!
IBARAKI Prefecture is killed by natto every year.😱😱😱
I want to escape early.😭😭
All relatives ran away.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I seriously can't put into words how much I love this album! It's a masterpiece! If you go on tour, please come to Mexico!
This touches me in so many ways! Loving the song, loving the album! What a great piece of art!
3:25 is an interesting combination of elements, and 5:10 reminds me strongly of Damnation-era Opeth.
Very cool stuff! I get a Swano Moontower vibe near the end sections.
;)
I love it. Great mix of cool stuff. Ihsahn makes everything he touches into gold and Matt Heafy is clearly in his prime 🤘
I think"茨城の軻遇突智"T(en-hsien occasional parting wisdom in Ibaraki north Kanto Japan)sorry
Screaming sounds too cringe for me. Should of just stuck with the Trivium scream technique.
These sound like when hes streaming and hasnt warmed up yet.
there are no words for this album. i am just wondering... 👍👍
Music truly touches my soul when it makes me cry. I don't feel sad, just can't handle the flow of emotions that music gives me. I have tears in my eyes everytime I listen to this.
This is incredible, thank you.
3:31 literally In Waves
✨🤟🏾🦊🤟🏾✨ HELL YEAH
That interlude was disappointing. Same riff the whole time. How could you not expand on that?
I wouldn't complain except that this is NOT Black Metal!!!
4:44 ➡️ 6:10 😍
6:13 🔥
La parte limpia me parece muy similar a las hermosas melodías de Tremonti. (Según yo) hermoso
Matt is a sexy beast!!!
🤘🏽😎
🇲🇽
Some Heaven In Her Arms vibes are with this. I like!
Oooo underrated band!
