What an epic trip! I used to love fishing for yellowfin but with old age creeping up and a bad back, I couldn't survive another trip for them. Still have plenty of memories though. Great video.

Man I feel ya. Its heart breaking when you lose a big one. Love getting them big tuna. Had a 4 hour fight with a big bronze whaler off the beach and it spat the hook at me!

I'm in New Zealand so don't know where you'd be catching Yellow fin in the winter.... just guessing Florida with the Blue water .... There's a guy Matt Watson does a fishing show here in New Zealand and has one on catching Southern Blue fin tuna .... they can be over 900 lb and nearly 3 metres long... I think Matt had one on for over 12 hours... Maybe you could come down to New Zealand with the fam one day for a holiday and have a crack at one of those 🤩

Been awhile, but I will never forget the fight I had with my first Yellowfin. He was as long as my 180 Qt. Cooler, so I'm guessing around a hundred pounder. You really can't grasp the power that fish has until you experience it. Fantastic video!

I've only caught little yellowfins in Costa Rica but they fought hard. I bagged 26 one day on a commercial trip with my local friends down there, all around 10 lbs. The boat was so full we quit fishin' so we could get through the surf because they don't have a boat ramp or trailer. Just a steep beach and logs to roll the boat. Hard work, good times.
You should go down there for some fishin'. I was there for 9 years and I'd be happy to show you around, yo hablo español. I'm going in February to visit my son and see what we can catch from the beach.
