    This is the process for replacing the parking brake pedal and cable (it's all one assembly) in a 2008-2012 Chevrolet Malibu. You can find this part cheapest from one of these 2 websites below. They take about a week or 2 to ship parts to your door depending on where you live, but they have much better prices than the dealers and are the go-to places for OEM GM parts. Though I mention GM Parts Direct in this video, I also use GM Parts Store from time to time. Some parts are cheaper on GM Parts Direct, and some parts are cheaper on GM Parts Store. Price around for yourself.

    This video also shows you how to remove the driver’s seat and some of the interior trim/carpet. If this video was helpful, leave a like so I know that it helped you, and consider subscribing as I will be doing repair videos on this Malibu as well as my 2018 Silverado and 2017 Jeep Wrangler.

    Great job on the video. Very helpful. I inherited a 2008 Malibu when my son bought a new car and the parking brake has never worked. I bought the lever assembly a couple of years ago, but we never had time to put it in. His problem was that it was stuck in the up position and we were afraid to mess with it for fear of locking the rear brakes. The caliper mechanisms were corroded and sticking, so I replaced both rear calipers and that allowed the pedal to work, but new problem - it wouldn't lock in position, so I replaced the lever assembly also. That third mounting nut was about the hardest thing I've ever had to remove. Thanks GM. I don't think I'll be putting it back.

    Very good video, it was VERY, VERY useful to speak about not to pull the pin until it was bolted down, I own a Chevy Malibu 2006 and I will order the part now, I live in San Andrés island Colombia, and I order the wrong part and now struggling, trying to weld back the nob that was broken from the wire which really never worked, thanks for the video

    Hey man great video, do you know where this part is sold or any places to look because the links you have say they are discontinued. I have looked everywhere and all say discontinued by manufacturer.

    Great video! Can u do the job without taking the seat out?

    • @bandenaccount
      @bandenaccount  ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The carpet goes around where the seat bolts into the floor and you have to get the carpet up since the brake cable lays under that. Plus having the seat out makes it so much easier to get the console and side seatbelt trim off.

    I just put my new ebrake in and the cables are super loose not engaging the ebrake does anyone know how to tighten it

    • @bandenaccount
      @bandenaccount  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Take a look around the 37-38 minute mark. There is a metal loop on the new ebrake pedal that you have to pull that then tensions the entire system.

      Connor. I cant find this part Anywhere, so was looking for a used version of this brake assembly… but you warning not to pull the pin before installation is flagging me that I cant use a cable from the wrecking yard. Am I missing something?
      Great tutorial though!
      Thanks
