Oh, that's terrible! Such an uncomfortable feeling of being violated. My heart goes out to you. Be VERY CAREFUL of those car rental places. They will take you to the cleaners! They have all kinds of hidden charges. A few years ago my mom had one briefly. Even though we cleaned it before taking it back, they found some dog hair and charged an extra $400! Plus other silly charges. She could have bought a good, used car for what they gouged her for. This was on top of what the insurance paid. Enjoy your day!

This is one of the best car life videos I've seen of taking something bad that happens in stride! You were so calm and matter of fact. So you have to change plans, experience a different car/home, and take care of money/insurance/mechanic stuff, and then move on. You weren't scared or discouraged. You weren't cursing humanity ... you were like ... happy to take care of business and then you get to resume the van life. Amazing. I think I'd have been a little more traumatized. And you seem to have a great insurance policy/company taking care of your needs. :) Wanna recommend them? And now you're in an SUV for a while? Cool. Not bad, eh!? (My car home is Ford Explorer.)

My insurance has helped a lot in making me feel better, knowing that it seems to be getting handled is encouraging. I have USAA 😂 I’ve heard good & bad about them, but so far they’ve been good to me.

That was pretty freaking cool finding Nessie hiding on the hatch, October easter eggs! Sad you got your van trashed by wanna be jackers but glad you had good insurance & got into a rental right away, & found a chill place to park, camp & film instead of throwing $ at a crap motel. They're so overpriced now for the quality of service/product given like so much else, not to mention you've got a garage bill coming, hope there's good news on that & you get covered for damages & some $ for a new fridge. Ew, so sorry that happened to you!! I live in Portland and I always worry about this - it’s happened to my boyfriend’s truck twice!! Something I think helps is using a club in the steering wheel - it’s slightly inconvenient, but I really think it deters these jerks from trying - one more obstacle for them to have to get through, you know? And it’s pretty inexpensive, very worth it imo!
Wicked bummer about the break-in. Having your personal space invaded is awful. Losing the fridge has got to be aggravating; it seems like you just got it and it was perfect! I would be losing my mind if this happened to me but you, with your kind spirit, you handle it very well, I hope your'e back on your journey soon! Please be safe!
hola :) so, last Friday (the 13th no less) somehow I switched the drivetrain dial to 4lo on my vehicle (05 Trailblazer) and unknowingly drove it around town on dry pavement in that mode for 4 days 🤦🏻♂️ it's still driveable, buuuut I've probably caused some damage to the axle housing or transfer case. not compared to having your vehicle broken into, but I guess just that I recently had some vehicle issues too. mostly because I'm an idiot, though 😂 anyway, hopefully you can get an anti-theft system on your van?? I have no clue if that would be expensive for your van or not. sweet view, by the way. that PNW stuff is unbelievably beautiful. much love.

Oh, geez, sorry to hear about the break-in. I once owned a classic F250 p/u with a pretty nice sound system installed... it was broken into and they stole the entire system. Some people's kids really suck. You appear to be weathering the situation pretty well (at least what you've shown, HaHa). I hope they can find the parts and get your van back to you soon!

if your planning to live in a vehicle, I would have a "club", just to signal to the would-be thieves that they can't drive into it. It's more protection than nothing, after all, your whole life might just drive away. I have one on my old truck, only because I hate losing it.
