- We were excited to make the short trip to Nottinghamshire to run the new Vicar Water Country Park parkrun in its fourth event.
This is a one-lap course on mixed terrain with some lovely views across the local area.
Dawn had set herself the target of taking down the FV60 course record, which stood at 24:13.
How would she get on in the wet conditions?

Great video....what a beautiful Park run....I am missing the mud...!!! Well done Dawn.👍
Thanks. Yes, a parkrun with some lovely views and other features. It's worth the visit, but possibly better in dry conditions. 😄
I like the look of this one. I'm always happy to throw on some trail shoes. They're a bit like a comfort blanket to me a lot of the time 😅
Great time, Dawn, well done 👏
I hope the summer weather turns up soon for you, John 😁👍
Having beaten Dawn by nearly 2 mins at Queen's Park last week I honestly think she would have had me in a head to head race on this one!
Looks like a scenic parkrun, definitely one for summer for me too.
I too am like bambi on ice, having had two bad falls on trails before i avoid them like the plague. Well done Dawn 🎉
Thanks. I can see how having falls would put you off!
Well done, guys! I was the one in black on film going up the hill. I saw you but, for some reason, didn’t think it was actually you-just someone wearing one of your vests. Doh!
There are only two of those vests I'm existence 😉
That looked like one of the best routes I’ve seen 🤩 Well done Dawn, you’re collecting a nice little collection of records as you go 🏃🏻
Maybe running spikes next time John? 😂
Thanks Dawn and John - looks an enjoyable course --- one for better weather - I am the original Bambi on Ice
Well done Dawn.
I’m also hopeless on anything which is not tarmac !!
Thanks. Dawn likes MT. 🙂
Another great video guys. Well done Dawn.
John you must get over to Sutton Manor Parkrun (St Helens) - a former colliery site and offers further tricky descents.
Was it Gregg Wallace who said it’s men of a certain age who struggle with downhill runs (maybe not) but avoid Lyme Park too - almost killed me.
Thanks for the tip-offs. I've never done Lyme Park. We've been to Lyme Park to visit the property but I can't see me doing the parkrun there 😉
Oh dear, cameraman dropped downhill :) Pro 3 got very slick outsole so probably not ideal. Well done Dawn.
The feller in 3rd had Pro 3s, but maybe is lighter on feet than I am. Full Send Weymouth winter next week. Not a patch of mud in sight.
@ might be like on a bike. Break too much and almost makes it harder. Adios 9 ought to be better as better connected to ground.
I won't be testing that theory on this course 😉
@@tworunningbrooms does look like be nicer in drier warmer weather. Mind you I say that about nearly everywhere !
Great run, Dawn!
Thanks. 🙂
Hopefully they’ll eventually do an “Alphafly Classic” as I’m very eager to try the 1.
Yes it seemed to be multi purpose. Dawn did 20 miles in another pair this morning and felt great.
That looks a great course.
Yes a bit of everything.
Great video and well done guys. Maybe one to leave until it gets a bit dryer perhaps. 🤔
If you're 99% of runners, no. If you're me yes 😀 Also given your capacity for getting there with 5 mins to spare you might struggle for parking. There were comments on their FB page after yesterday.
@ Tarmac, no tarmac
Ah, not a bad heel click from me at the end there…considering I’d just got up to 5.45min milling on that final stretch 😂 As you could tell from the jacket wearing it was just an easy run this week, trying to keep warm, but…when I got to the top of the hill I love a quick downhill and the renowned VJ trail shoes have super sticky grip!
Yes when I saw your name on the results I wondered if you were the chap who posts on here. Nice finish. If you'd just held back a little bit I'd have got a clearer view 😀
The photo has just been put on their Facebook page and you were in clear view...whereas there was someone directly behind my jump 😮
