Empathy is at the very center of design too. I teach empathy, using these videos, to my doctoral students at the U of Miami, Teaching and Learning Department. True learning is more likely when an environment of safety is part of the process. I ask myself all the time, “What are my students feeling? How can I address those perceptions and concerns?” One student said today, “You have freed us up to focus on what we came here for. It’s liberating.” Empathy does that. It liberates all of us to do better than we thought possible. Thank you Cleveland Clinic.
I think having empathy as a Neurologist myself is one of the most important things. I however disagree with Cleveland Clinic not having empathy for parents who don’t want their children put on hormones and are asking for profession help with a child who has gender dysphoria. Instead they are affirming the child and become quickly frustrated with a parent who is not affirming. This is due to many things but one is because those kids will need life time medical care that isn’t cheap and healthcare is a business. I hope they reconsider some of their services and approach as well as show empathy for a parent who doesn’t want professionals affirming a disorder.

As a breast cancer stage 3 survivor, this video gives me hope for others in the fight. This is a model of what healthcare should be
