"Dont need a you and I" (UNI), uni is short for university in UK, so skipping lectures. "Dont need a me and u" (menu), cuz a chef doesnt need a menu at his own restaurant. Those bars went over my head first couple times i listened to aswell 😂
was looking for this comment haha those bars are fire Bob needs to know
The force (divorce) like an ex wife
"Bumped into Dave by the SANTANder" cause Santan Dave 😭
@@brenetsssshe got his name from Santander aswel
💀💀💀💀
You gotta listen to "were all alone in this together" now. He is one of the best lyricists in the world.
We gotta give him a minute before we’re all alone in this together
This should be a fun time. Please don’t make us wait for the second album 🙏🏼 grateful for your broad taste
The second album is shit 😂
@@laussethecatwe’re all alone in this together?? you can’t be serious
@@laussethecathorrible take
@@swagcactus3497 out of his discography that album is dead last, twenty to one night be the corniest song he's ever released
@@laussethecatyea and heart attack is his best song
American girl who never heard of Dave until last year. I became obsessed with him, his lyricism, and his life story. Really a top notch artist.
Yeah his life story is incredible and absolutely heartbreaking, you can’t help but route for the guy, especially since he has all the talent in the world
Dave is definitely one of my favourite rappers to ever do it. There are some really clever, and pretty funny punchlines across this album that i love - Screwface Capital is one of my favourite hiphop songs ever. Excited to watch this.
Also explaining the 2 bars in Streatham you skipped over:
“I dont need a You And I like Im in Leicester, skipping my lectures”
“You And I” sounds like “U N I” (university/college). He doesnt need a uni, so hes “skipping his lectures”
And then “Dont need a Me And You like when a chef would eat at his restaurant”
“Me And You” = “ME N U” (Menu). A chef doesnt need a menu when they eat at their own restaurant.
Just a couple of the simpler ones i thought youd appreciate
Thanks
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
You gotta do We’re All Alone In This Together next…. Dave is the next Hov with his pen game but musically evolving every album…. Anyone that says Dave is boring is crazy
Agree
Hes good but the way americans say hes the best from the uk is cringe hes far from that lol
@@lucan9750 who the best then
@@gemmirut6988 kano, skepta, p money, casisdead, slowthai, joe james, stormzy, kwollem are all more interesting not to mention the drill scene (favs are sus, rv, kwengface) has taken over that sound in england anyway
None of these guys are better lyricists or storytellers. Skepta is the most iconic, sure, but you really got to listen to dave bars.
The Uk has an amazing music scene. J Hus, Knucks, Sainte and so many others are among my favorite artists
real UK shit is Loyle Carner, LAUSEE THE CAT, Little Simz, Slowthai, Skepta
@@rbntllybruh shut up💀 “real uk music is🤓” it’s all Uk music.
i agree lol, i’m just saying those artists are better, i still fw the others
@@rbntllylausse the cat is good but he released one album 6 years ago, that’s it. ain’t no way you can put him in any uk rap list
@@bait1s yea i’ve heard that before, but in my opinion his EP is a top 5 UK project and that makes him above the others
The Blacker the Berry is a Kendrick song, yes, but it's actually a reference to a 1920s Harlem Renaissance novel of the same name. It's also more famously/originally referenced by Pac in Keep Ya Head Up.
He should definitely react to 2Pac's Strictly 4 My N'z album, it's surprising how underrated the album is
Dave is the type of rapper that will have a bunch of entendres, word play, UK terms, but you can hear his accent more easily than other uk guys. The beats are always a little subdued, but the way he kinda rides the beat is crazy+paired with some thought-provoking but still unique bars
The first time I listened to Lesley I was in awe, what an amazing storytelling performance
we're all in this together is my fav album of his.. his dense af and goes through emotional and complex topics. one of his best lyrical projects
The merc is a beast and I’m blackin it out, 1.9 on a plan for a house I ain’t got a memory of when dad was around, still a child when I turned man of the house.
tell me what you know about a bag full o bills and your mum cryin out sayin son i can’t take it
@@swagcactus3497and then starin in the mirror for an hour with a tear in your eye like i gotta go make it
Dave was 20 years old when this was released, and he had been big in the scene since he was around 16. Crazy talent
Album is pure heart and introspection. Just for some context, its also named after his brother in the last track, Christopher's, therapy program in jail called psychodramme.
If you looking for more good UK albums id definetly recommend checking out "Big Conspiracy" by J Hus, its got a little bit of hip hop, R&B, afrobeats, uk drill, etc, great project
Growing up on Kanye, Eminem, Jay Z etc, when Dave came along in 2016 it finally felt like we had someone who could become a real superstar from the UK.
He really has everything as a musician excited to hear what you think of this album.
I would also say, as a next UK artist to go for, I’d love to hear your reaction to Kano.
Made in the Manor or Hoodies All Summer are both amazing albums.
When I saw this pop up in my subscription feed I freaked out!! Dave is my favorite rapper, and he's legitimately one of the best artists in the rap scene PERIOD. Looking forward to more Dave albums
So glad you're tapping into the UK scene. You're in for a treat. Good production, good lyricists. Can't wait for UK album reactions.
Just remember Dave was only 20 years old when he dropped this album. 20!!! Absolutely insane display of his skill and pen game
We're all in this together by Dave is a masterpiece
were all alone in this together is a masterpiece by dave. Best lyricists in the world imo, thats a MUST
you should definitely react to gang Starr- moment of truth it’s one of the most underrated albums of all time
YES! In my opinion Gang Starr and People Under The Stairs amd two artist I most want him to check out. Rap being produced at it's highest level.
Yesss and pleaseeeee
@@civilwarwasaninsidejob7405 Bro I've wanted for Bob to listen to Atmosphere for like 2yrs now and he'd just rather sleep I guess. RIP GURU. RIP DOUBLE K. RIP ZUMBI ❤
this needs to happen. i know he mentioned loving scratches so he’d probably be super into premier’s production
Already on board with Skepta, Stormzy and Giggs. Let’s see what’s the fuss about. 😉
I love your format for these reactions
Absolutely loved this reaction and your take. So excited to hear more
Such a real reaction video, enjoyed every bit and will be subscribing, you are a very intellectual man
So glad you finally got around to this bob!! Please don’t make us wait too long for his second album.
I’m so glad that you finally reacted to Dave. He’s one of my all time favourites. You HAVE to do “We’re All Alone in This Together” next. Keep up the good work Bob 🤘🏼
Damn, this is great to see, this album is incredible
Great video mate, really enjoyed it.
Every tune has a meaning or expression. For example psycho has 3 beat switches showing his mood swings. Remember it’s a therapy session.
I can't believe you reacted to this haha. Insane album, Dave is a genius lyricist.
I've watched plenty of reactions to this album but his tops them all! This made me relive this album all over again and reminded me why it's one of my favourites. I'd highly recommend checking out Dave's following album We're All Alone In This Together. Great video and keep up with these reactions they're awesome!
i just started the vid and im so ready for the lesley reaction
You are real your honesty in your evaluation is real and heartfelt. Dave is real only the true listeners with there hearts open can relate. The is so much music some make us feel good, some bad, some make us feel nothing. Every now and again u need an artist that makes u feel beyond your ears and into your heart even if currently u feel not much value in the life u live one day your life can be a story that others can be inspired by . Include all the flaws as well as the triumphs in your story real people will always celebrate your true worth
Never watch full album reactions usually because they’re long but this is great! Well done, great reaction
Just rewatched this whole reaction, well done once again! His newest album isn’t this emotional or heavy - just psychodrama was.
Dave is on another level, his lyricism is up there..
In purple heart when it lays "numb to pain" then says "learn that love is pain" he is implying that he is now numb to love aswell as pain
amazing reaction brother!
thank god for this ive been waiting so long
IM HERE FOR THIS
lets go bob
hahaha personally, as someone from the uk, ive never really been the biggest fan of dave but understand the appreciation for his writing. as for other uk music to check out, id love to see you venture into the development of grime - really great evolution through different artists and sounds tried and tested from the early 2000s to the present day. i'm sure you'll be bombarded with suggestions though so i wont include any here. thanks for another great video bob love ya
THANK YOU BOB ❤
love reactions to this album from other point of views it shows how dave can get anybody really thinking about life
BOB UR THE GOAT FOR THIS.
Please do his next album ty
ooo im here for this. this album was my shit back when it released
not started watching yet but i know your gonna love this. i have the album on viynl, its such a fucking good album, daves pens on fire throughout
Loved it, do the second album as well. Dave’s different!
GREAT CHOICE BOB, don’t listen to them ! I’m from the US and Dave is probably my favorite rapper for the past few years 💯
Fr
I got a mate who wont listen to dave cause of his accent (we're both british)
I can't wait for We're all alone in this together. Please do it Bob 🙏🏾
W UK Friday
Would love to see you hear J Hus Album "Beautiful and Brutal Yard" never thought about if you need more context to enjoy that but i feel like it's an album you could just listen to and enjoy the music without any deeper knowledge of the UK music scene or life even though it offers some deeper layers if one gets more into it
I really appreciate the reactions and your insights, and one thing to note (as you have already mentioned) is the cultural nuances both in the album, and the reception to it. One I would like to mention in particular is the cultural phenomenon that Location was. It was the anthem of precovid UK pretty much, comparable to smth like God's Plan or In My Feelings.
I NEVER THOUGHT THIS WOULD COME WWWWW
That last song got me holding back tears😭
THE SECOND ALBUM WILL HIT DIFFERENT
I think Dave is one of the best rappers in the game currently. I do struggle to get into his albums tho because for me personally there’s not too many “catchy” songs for lack of a better word. I do enjoy just listening to him rap about deep shit for 5 minutes straight tho.
wow, wasnt expecting this
Dave also has some great singles that he’s featured on that id recommend highly
I AM SO FUCKING HYPED UR REACTING TO DAVE LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
I can’t believe it’s finally happened 😮
yesss Bob!!! We're All Alone next please! my favourite penman since Cyhi The Prynce
Lets go! Great album.
You HAVE to listen to We’re all alone in this together. Especially Heart Attack and In the fire
In my opinion he’s the greatest of his generation. He can do everything, and do it well
I think his next album after this, we’re all alone in this together just improves on psychodrama in pretty much every way in my opinion. There’s so many great albums from uk artists
Ghetts - Conflict of interest
Best in UK past 20 years. Definitely inspired and paved the way for Dave, Stormzy and uk artist now
Since you're doing artists around the world, you have to listen to Nujabes. YOU HAVE TO. Specifically the luv sic hexology.
Outkast -" Speakerboxx / The Love Below" next forsure
Finally! Hopefully we can see we're all alone in this together soon
You should react to dave his blackbox freestyle, you can hear a lot of emotions is this freestyle!
no way you've never heard burna. you need to listen to his music
I will continue to beg for Saba - Care For Me until we get it
We’re all in this alone together next please Bob! Dave’s 2nd album 🙏🏼
Dave is the best in UK right now. You need to check out Skepta and JME though
You should listen to Tyler’s first (and only) mixtape Bastard, even Earls one too EARL that would be fun
I really liked your perspective on this album. Amazing. Please listen to "We're all alone in this together", his next album.
One of the best rapper out now, you should listen to his next album “We’re all alone in this together” at some point
I just got that : i dont need a me and you (menu), like a chef the eats at his restaurant
I know you get a lot of requests, but you should try to check out the Hip-Hop trio, the Flatbush Zombies. Their first mixtape “Better Off Dead” is a cult classic with grungy instrumentals and graphic lyrics. They mix in old school Hip-Hop, with modern sound, giving it a really fun listening experience. They’re very underrated but have had legendary collaborations since their mixtape days. Their studio albums are much more polished and more for mainstream.
Havent watched yet but he is 100% crying on leslie
Bob Me-N-U like a chef wouldn’t need a menu at their own restaurant because they know the items already
His second album even better
Bob needs to check out Knucks!!!!
In Purple Hearts he says one of my favorite barz ever.
"what comes fast never lasts"
Is one a word play on sex, if you c*m fast u dont last. But a lot of things that come fast won't last forever. Look at all the rappers, movie stars, certain sports players who blow up out of no where and vanish two years later making them not last.
bro this album is art
Technically there are better UK Rappers right now than Dave, but Dave has a unique perspective and wordplay that none of them come close to him in my opinion. I really rate this guy up there with Kendrick Lamar and Lupe Fiasco.
get what you're saying in "Black" about your background but the difference is it's all documented somewhere, paperwork is there for immigration etc if you went to track it down and put the effort in you probably could .. a whole lot of black people living in USA & England to a lesser extent don't have that, their ancestors were forcibly removed and taken to another country & given their slavemaster's name
So sad that you won’t react to Vultures bro. It’s so fucking fire 🔥
Yes finally!!!
Dave is easily the best UK rapper
Are you planning on continuing Tha Carter series still?
Carter III is on the list it'll happen sometime this year I'm sure.
the day you do billy woods or mach-hommy i’ll cry
I saw that you listened to Maps by billy woods and liked it, so you should definitely listen to ”We Buy Diabetic Test Strips” by Armand Hammer from last year also (Armand Hammer is a duo consisting of billy woods and ELUCID, probably the best hip hop duo in recent years)
LOOOOL I feel exactly the same about the Taylor Swift thing, there's just something so funny about seeing those NFL fans get so riled up about it
if feel like if your not from the uk and dont know alot of the lingo and bars, using the annotations in genuis is very useful
if u want to explore UK then do some GRIME like Boy in da Corner or Konnichiwa next time
GRIME is much more interesting than UK Hip Hop and would be refreshing because of the different sounds they use
Defo Boy in da Corner
He is playing the piano in all those tracks
Bob let’s go, reacting to uk music🔥
Masterpiece.
