Thank you so much for this! This was a masterclas because you demonstrated in situ how it works and what are the solutions. Wish every Recording and Mixing channel was this dedicated and easy to follow. I have never recorded a real amp and now I feel more confident just because of this video. Thank you!
I agree, Euge always provide that no-nonsense approach. And what a sound! 🤩 If you've never miced as speaker, follow the practical approach and get some quick experience first, because there are things you can only learn by doing. For example, record a guitar loop for reference and send it to the amp (use a looper pedal, a reamp box, whatever). Then grab your mic of choice, record it, and with your hand move it around the speaker, dead centre, further away from the edge, from the back, from a distance, at different angles... You also tape yourself on camera while doing this, so you get a visual reference of every sound. Then you listen to it and extract conclusions about those positions you like, those you dislike, how the mic reacts, and so on. This way guides like Euge's will become more useful, because you'll be able to use them to tune whatever you already experienced.
Very cool and helpful video, thanks :) Another little tip i heard Nolly talk about. The area where the two glue blobs are on the cone is always darker than the opposite side. Nolly often prefers that spot with the glue blobs for the sm57, since it takes away the harsh top end a bit. Maybe that’s helpful for someone Rawk on 🤘🏻
Glad to hear! Good tip! haven’t paid that much attention to that but it’s probably true ’cos Nolly knows this stuff. I’ve just used my ears and I’ve noticed that sometimes the sides (of the speaker) sounds a bit different.
Eiks toi teippi blokkaa tota saundia tosta kabinetista? Vai onks se jotain kangasteippiä? Ite laittaisin, emmätiiä, tussilla merkin mikrofonille. Jos sillä siis edes on väliä.

@@riangarianga Thanks man! And great tips! I totally agree.
@@EugeValovirta230V thank you! Channels like yours is the reason I pay my internet bills every month! 😀
@@riangarianga thank you for this tip! Makes total sense. At the end even sometimes experiments lead to great sounds!
This is the best, straight to the point and well demonstrated video on the subject. Great thanks !!!
Thanks! Much appreciated 🙏.
An excellent video of the issue that I would have liked to know better many years ago. Ps. You also direct your videos really well!
Awesome, thank you!
Thanks Euge 👊🏼
You’re welcome 🤟.
This was ultra helpful!!! :)))
Glad it was helpful!
Hey Euge, I would love to see you demo the Friedman IR-J and compare it to your Marshalls, if possible.
As soon as I get my hands on one \m/.
Very cool and helpful video, thanks :)

Very informative thanks. It would be interesting to hear a comparison to your mic set up and some impulse responses.
Glad to hear! Thanks! That’s a pretty good idea for a video 👌.
This information was interesting
Glad to hear!
The ribbon mic sounds so much better
Yeah it’s a really good mic. Better? I don’t think so. Different? Yes. Does it work great with punchy & direct mics like 57 & 421? Absolutely yes.
We need to get you the iic+ reissue pronto…. …so far, all the demos have been laaaaaaaaaame. We need the Euge!!!!
🕺😎🎼🎸

Ei kun ei se ei ole kaapin ja mikin välissä. Ja on kangasteippiä, mutta sillä ei ole merkitystä, koska se ei ole mikin ja kaapin välissä.
