I do often wonder if he had got baptized years prior to his diagnosis of cancer, would that had made him change his mind on the medical advice that they doctors recommend. Would he had beat this disease. I would even add that if you listen to his catalog after 1976, overtly rastafarian messaging significantly decreased from his song writing until his death. It was almost like he was playing a game. I think he started deconstructing his entire worldview as a response to the assassination attempt and was seemingly slipping in and out of religious consciousness. He was processing Christianity while having to throw Rastafarian bones to secure the credibility of his career as he went forward. I've read the deconstructing might have started from the point Selassie passed away which is before the assassination attempt. Regardless, it is a curious omission when processing the complexity of his full journey.

I would even add that if you listen to his catalog after 1976, overtly rastafarian messaging significantly decreased from his song writing until his death. It was almost like he was playing a game. I think he started deconstructing his entire worldview as a response to the assassination attempt and was seemingly slipping in and out of religious consciousness. He was processing Christianity while having to throw Rastafarian bones to secure the credibility of his career as he went forward. I've read the deconstructing might have started from the point Selassie passed away which is before the assassination attempt. Regardless, it is a curious omission when processing the complexity of his full journey.
