I'm really hoping this spring my redlands produces some fruit to try. It grafts really easily. I grafted a Mary lane tree. Supposed to be a heavy producer of smaller fruit with excellent Carmel flavor. Hope it's a good one.
Some guys in California have tons of varieties. Need to link up with them for scion wood. California Rare Fruit Council. There was a presentation of a guy on TH-cam that had dozens of varieties.
I don't have much experience with White Sapote but I did get some nice sized fruit on my small container grown 'McDill'. I'm in London, UK so not the typical warm climate for White Sapote either.
This tree is where you get the saponin oil from right? How long does it normally take to fruit? Last question lol do you collect the sap or bark for oils? Appreciate any feedback
I think Pauly you need to a bigger block, its seems you have to rip out to many plants. I sorta do the same. I will give away a dwarf mulberry as I purchased a Pakistan mulberry.
I currently have 5 white sapote. 1 cuccio 1 walton and 3 unknown. My biggest ws is currently blooming. It's in a pot so it's ok. I'll just bring it inside this winter. I hope to graft at least 3 or 4 more varieties to the unknowns. I've found sources for 3 of the varieties I'm looking for. If anyone knows anyone that has WS Fairhaven sunset or 4H4 I'd appreciate meeting in the hopes of completing my WS collection.
Ya gotta love Xain! Totally awesome to see a new generation so passionate and so knowledgeable about fruit trees.
I just want to get my hands on a campbell white sapote and I'll be good lol.
Looks like they're more scarce than gold right now!
Xain's World Grafted, Sue Belle, Redlands, U.F., and Bonita Springs all doing well in Jupiter Farms. Saved space for 6 more varieties.
how old are your trees in the ground? Are they fruiting yet?

Fruitful Tree, what is your favourite variety of white sapote? If you could only plant one...
Rootstock could be your problem?
